new oots books?

is there any news or hints of a new oots book? anyone?

This should probably go in the OOTS forum, but I'm also not sure.
All I know about the next OOTS book is that it will contain all of the strips after 484 until the party is reunited (including Roy's resurrection, I think that's supposed to be the last strip or something.) I could be mistaken, but I think that's something like what it says in War & XPs.

but is there no out of main story line books anymore? like the origin of pcs & start of darkness?

Okay, so War & XPs ran from 300-484, presumably with some extra pages for commentary, "deleted scenes" and such. Assuming a similar length for the next book ("Let's Split Up, Gang"? "Broken Stick Rule"?), the final pages should be sometime around now, likely after Vaarsuvius' plight has been resolved or at least stabilised, and Roy resurrected.

So following the 4th Book we've still got a definite 5th, and likely a 6th book before the story ends (somewhere around strip 1000). Before that, I'd be unsurprised to see one or two more "side" books, dealing with the Order of the Scribble and the Linear Guild.

The new book should have a similar number of strips, but will end up shorter than War and XPs. The previous book had many multiple page pages, while this one was mostly one and two page updates. Even with the ""Unreasonably Complicated ("http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0645.html)" arc added in, this book will end up thinner than War and XPs and possibly thinner than No Cure for the Paladin Blues. But it should be thicker than Dungeon Crawlin' Fools.

I'm hoping Rich is working on something on the side, like he did with Start of Darkness, but writing that, and the main strip, and some stuff for WotC ended up messing up his health even more than usual. :smallfrown:
