Where might I find one of these? And how much?

Gem of Seeing: This finely cut and polished stone is indistinguishable from an ordinary jewel in appearance. When it is gazed through, a gem of seeing enables the user to see as though she were affected by the true seeing spell. A gem of seeing can be used for as much as 30 minutes a day, divided up into periods of minutes or rounds as the user sees fit.

Moderate divination; CL 10th; Craft Wondrous Item, true seeing; Price 75,000 gp.

I don't think you could make a permanant version short of epic.

Use-activated or continuous Spell level × caster level × 2,000 gp2

5 X 9 X 2,000 = 90,000

The only continuous True Seeing item I know of for 3.5e is the Hathran Mask of True Seeing from Unapproachable East. Costs 75000 and takes the face slot. Yes, this makes the core Gem of Seeing pretty much worthless and obsolete.

There are several much cheaper items that give True Seeing for a limited time each day, mostly in the Magic Item Compendium.

Actually, that's...

5 x 9 x 2 x 2,000 = 180,000 gp; continuous spell effects of a 1 minute/level duration spell have double cost. And that's a pre-epic item.

For a wizard, it's 6 x 11 x 2 x 2,000 = 264,000 gp; that's an epic item, so the price gets increased tenfold, to 2,640,000 gp.

Doesn't mean it's a good idea, though; continuous anything is usually a bad idea, and usually shouldn't be allowed. Stick with the gem of seeing.

Only epic bonuses trigger that multiplier. Just having a price above 200,000 does make an item epic but does not increase the price further.

You really don't need continuous True Seeing. At most, you'll need it for 4-6 minutes per day, spread out over 4-6 combats (and maybe 6 seconds a day whenever you meet a new NPC and need to check if he's really something else masquerading as a humanoid). And in most cases, you'll only need it for a minute per day, since most DMs won't throw in effects that need True Seeing every combat.

But if you want a close equivalent to continuous True Seeing, you can take the Pierce Magical Concealment feat (Complete Arcane) which lets you ignore the miss chance from ANY magic effect. Then get See Invisibility, Temorsense, Blindsight, or Blindsense (which are quite easy to get as continuous effects) so that you always know which square to target. Then pump your Spot (in case your enemy has Darkstalker, which works against True Seeing and everything else) and Sense Motive (in case your enemy is using Polymorph or Alter Self or an Alternate Form). And you're set.

You assume you only need true seeing for combat? You must not have played many good dungeons... sure, there's a miss chance to worry about, but illusory terrain, traps, etc are much more irritating.

D'oh!

The DMG and the SRD? It's one of the footnotes for Table: ESTIMATING MAGIC ITEM GOLD PIECE VALUES:

2 If a continuous item has an effect based on a spell with a duration measured in rounds, multiply the cost by 4. If the duration of the spell is 1 minute/level, multiply the cost by 2, and if the duration is 10 minutes/level, multiply the cost by 1.5. If the spell has a 24-hour duration or greater, divide the cost in half.

I wonder how they get the new itens with greater power and reduced cost.
Well, the book do say that some itens in the DMG could be "wrong" considering most recent calculations. Changing an item from "google" to "face" slot shouldn't reduce the cost so much to allow 24/7 continuous use.

Lol, it is "estimating" costs. Some things DMs need to say 'NO!' to. Like continous true strike bracers: ignore less than full concealment, +20 to attack. Cost: 2000.
