Having problems with my mouse.

Ok so for some reason, my computer mouse randomly thinks I'm holding the mouse button down even when by fingers are nowhere near the buttons. Its a fairly new optical mouse so it couldn't be wear. Any ideas on what may be wrong and how I can fix it? Anybody? I'm stumped.

You probably have already, but try cleaning the connectors, and if it's a USB mouse, try plugging it into a different port. You'd be surprised how many problems that fixes.

Try holding down the relevant button and using alt-tab to switch your active windows.
That worked for me in the past when it appeared that a keyboard key was being held down when it wasn't, and I can only assume it would also work with a similar problem with a mouse.

Ok... This is a basic question but I will ask it anyway... Have you tried with other mouse? Are you sure it's a software problem?

seconding the "try a different slot" option. there is a reason they give you a million usb's.

try googling the mouse, maybe someone had a similar problem.
