Just curious if you're allowed to do this, and if so what the costs would be?

Nope, the bracers are providing an AC bonus they aren't an armour enchantment. You'd have to add a continuous spell effect on top of the bracer bonus to get the effect.

How much would it cost then to add a continual Death Ward onto them?

Arms and Equipment Guide (3.0).

I think a item of continual death ward is priced at 4(spell level)x7(minimum caster level)x2000x2(for 1 min/CL duration of the spell)=112,000gp. IMO that is a bit too much, so lets look at items that provide a similar effect. A ring of freedom of movement costs 40,000 gp. So I would price a item that gives a continual death ward effect at 60,000 gp (due that the spell has a lower duration then freedom of movement).

64,000(for bracers of armor +8) + 1.5(adding a function to a existing item)x 60,000=154,000 gp for bracers of armor +8 with a continual deathward effect. That sounds about right to me.

The Arms and Equipment Guide says Bracers of Armor can have armor special abilities added to them, and it costs the same as if the bracers were armor and their armor bonus were their enhancement bonus instead. Non-epic maximum +13 after special abilities, +8 pure armor.

The problem you run into is that Soul Fire is either a +4 or +5 adder to armor. IMO it's worth it, since it makes you immune to negative energy effects and death effects.

Soulfire is a +4 cost enhancement (Book of Exalted Deeds, page 112). The minimum cost, adding to Bracers of Armor +1, would be 25,000 gp. No special multipliers are used, per the rules in the 3.5 Dungeon Master's Guide, Arms and Equipment Guide, and BoED.

Question about that: How does stacking effects work? I can foresee a problem with someone putting that on bracers, enchanting armor, and then enchanting a shield.

i cant see any stacking problems, besides you not getting the +1 armor bonus from your braces because your armor gives a bigger bonus.

I meant on effects. You put soulfire on bracers (+4). You put medium fortification on your armor (+3). You put some other +1 ability on your shield. Now, the Ac from the bracers and armor doesn't stack, but do the abilities? Using your example, you'd spend 25,000 for the bracers, 16,000 for the armor, and 4,000 for the shield, for a total of 45,000. If the abilities don't stack, you're looking at 64,000 for the armor and 4,000 for the shield, for a total of 68,000.

Yes, you still get all the abilities. You don't lose Moderate Fortification's benefit just because the wraith ignores the armor bonus of your +1 Mod Fort Breastplate.

The armor bonus from the bracers doesn't stack with the armor bonus from you physical armor, but all the abilities should still work. And you would get the armor bonus from the bracers if attacked by an incorporeal creature as an extra bonus.

Yes, the effects would stack in exactly the same way they stack between standard armor and a shield. Not really any more abusable than Magic Vestment'd +1 Armor/Shield of (Lots of Enhancements) already is, IMO.

Iku Rex noted it was in Arms and Equipment. I will add it is on page 130.

Thanks. I'll have to see if we can get a hold of that book.
