View Full Version : The Shopping Trip From Hades (ACRO Plot)

The Bushranger
2009-06-02, 11:44 PM
The Mall of Acronymia.

It has every store known to mankind. The inside is bigger than the outside.
Some of the wings are bigger still.

And, in one, small hallway, leading to the women's restrooms, there's a shopping bag, a pool of blood, and a corpse...

And a couple of security guards, standing around looking nervous.

FireFox

Sam strides in, flanked by two men with submachine guns, and two people that look like lab techs, with large bags of equipment. They make their way to the restrooms.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 04:12 PM
The security guard sees them approaching, and stands to attention, saluting.
"Security Lieutenant Ford, ma'am. We kept the scene intact for you, ma'am."

Indeed, there's a pool of blood - two kinds of blood - and an overstuffed shopping bag laying on its side.

And a corpse.
Looks like a shadar-kai.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 04:17 PM
Sam salutes back, then wordlessly indicates for his men to leave the area. Her two, Prometheus Security, men take up positions while the techies start scanning blood, fingerprints, and DNA. And yes, they have Dani's on file.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 04:21 PM
Lt. Ford's team leaves the area.

There's a fair bit of her DNA there. Mostly in a good part of the blood.
There's blood from another human, male, there, too, as well as from several shadar-kai.
Her fingerprints are all over the bag, which has items spilling out of it...

Oh, and the dead shadar-kai died from a close-range Crystalstorm to the crotch.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 04:23 PM
Sam smiles humourlessly at the dead body, then watches as a begloved techie slowly takes items out of the bag and checks them over.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 04:42 PM
The items will be catalogued as follows...

A couple of books, that fall into the category of how to build a household together.

A very skimpy nightgown and an even skimpier swimsuit.
Neither in Dani's size - for a rather taller woman. One Sam's size, in fact...

A Taurus Judge .45/.410 revolver in a crystal case.

And a small, plain box. A ring box, big enough for two rings...

FireFox
2009-06-03, 04:48 PM
The techies give each other a look, then put the rest of the stuff in the bag, after fingerprinting them, and sealing that in a larger bag.
Sam, her expression worsening after every revealed item, finally breaks down at the last and leaves the room sobbing.
The Forensics team takes as much time as needed to canvass the area, trying to find every little "clue" that may remain there, and then go question clerks after checking the receipts to build up a picture of where Dani was at different times; a simulation over her trip to the mall. They also ask for assistance from the security cameras.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 04:58 PM
The security cameras show Dani's progress through the mall, going from store to store, then heading to the restrooms...where she's confronted by a dark-haired man and three shadar-kai.

A fight ensues after only a few words, Dani's first blast taking down one of the shadowy creatures and wounding the others, before she's taken in a headlock by the man, who shouts something in a strange language...and then transport rings descend, whisking them away.

It seems this was VERY well planned, right down to the second.

Witnesses, it seems, saw nothing.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 05:01 PM
They run the image of the man, and all of the fingerprints, through Prometheus Securities' very extensive database. Of course, it's doubtful that they're in there. :smallwink:

After a few hours of work, the techies go back to their lab, somewhere, and Sam returns to the bathroom to take another look around.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 05:11 PM
The fingerprints come up with a match. Dani's. :smalltongue:
The ones from the man actually come up as being...almost like two sets of prints overlaid into one...

There's not much new to see. However Sam might notice, laying on the floor, a note...

How'd they miss that?

FireFox
2009-06-03, 05:13 PM
Sam, barely able to even see the note through her tears, bends down to pick it up. ... Really, guys?

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 05:22 PM
The note is very simple.

"Thank you for coming. We have something you want, and now are about to get something we want. Keep looking up! M."

FireFox
2009-06-03, 05:23 PM
The first thing Sam does is go for her gun, and then she stands and looks, well, up.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 05:28 PM
As Sam looks up, the ceiling irises open...

And transport rings descend around her!

FireFox
2009-06-03, 05:34 PM
Sam doesn't have time to do anything other than prepare, while the soldiers outside start panicking.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 05:37 PM
And vroom - she's gone!

...

...

Rematerialising in what seems like an abandoned warehouse, or something of the sort. Wide open space, concrete walls, dead center in a 25,000-square-foot floor illuminated by flourescent lights.

The rings here, for the record, come out of the floor.

There's a door, one door, in one corner of the room, and that's it.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 05:39 PM
Sam looks and listens as she silently approaches the door, trusting her heightened senses to possibly pick up on the sounds of people.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 05:44 PM
There's a faint hum of machinery, that seems to be a little louder behind the door.

But otherwise, the room is as quiet as a graveyard.

The door has an electronic lock, and it sure looks like it's trapped, too.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 05:46 PM
Sam paces around the entire room, making sure she didn't miss anything. Then she stays by the door, gun ready. She waits, and she listens.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 05:54 PM
Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Not even omminous humming, either. Just machinery, muffled.

The pacing reveals concrete. Lots and lots of concrete. And the control panel for the rings, of course.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 05:56 PM
Sam's pissed, but she knows somebody wants her there, so she waits.
...
She can go a long time, seething rage and depression notwithstanding.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 05:59 PM
...

...

...

...

Two hours later...

click! from the lock on the door.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 06:01 PM
Sam silently brings her gun to bear, standing to the side of the door.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 06:05 PM
The door slides open.

The machinery noise gets really, REALLY LOUD now that it's open.

Nothing else happens.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 06:08 PM
Sam waits. You never know how impatient they may get. Also, she hasn't made a sound since she got here, so if they don't have cameras, they make think she's gone.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 06:13 PM
Cameras with X-ray vision!

...

...

...

...

Two more hours pass...

Suddenly, the machinery powers down.

The sudden lack of noise may be painful.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 06:17 PM
Sam expected a fight; she has special earplugs.
And annoying amounts of patience.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 06:20 PM
And lo, 30 minutes later, footsteps can be heard approaching down the hallway.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 06:23 PM
She gets ready to hold the gun on anyone who steps through.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 06:29 PM
And a figure does, in fact, step through the door.

In the faint light, the hooded robe isn't just melodramatic, it also completely hides its face.

As it turns to look directly at Sam immediately.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 06:31 PM
It'll find itself looking down the barrel of her Glock. Give me a reason to not blow your brains out.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 06:38 PM
"Because then you would never get that what you wish?" the man under the hood says in a surprisingly cultured voice. And one that's also...oily. "Come now, Samantha. Follow me and all shall be revealed."
And he turns to start back up the hallway...

FireFox
2009-06-03, 06:39 PM
What I wish, is your death. She tries to grab him by the shoulder and point the gun at the back of his neck before following. One funny thing, and you die.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 06:47 PM
The man chuckles under the hood.
"You'll have to take a number, dear Samantha. Your new boyfriend would be among the first in line."
He doesn't put up any resistance to grabbing and pointing, actually seeming rather more amused by it than anything else, as they head down a long, long, long hallway...

FireFox
2009-06-03, 06:48 PM
What is it you want from me? She keeps following him.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 06:54 PM
"What do we want from you? That's quite simple, dear Samantha."

Finally they enter what seems to be an observation room.

On the other side of the glass is Dani, unconsious, unclothed, and strapped to a table.

"Yourself."

FireFox
2009-06-03, 06:56 PM
How so? She looks at Dani, then at the back of his neck again.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 07:01 PM
"It's who you are, my dear...or should I say what you are." He chuckles. "Your DNA is a very unique mixture of traits. A human breeding with a werefox? Their offspring would have remarkable ablities and powers. Finding out how those powers work...the medical benifits to the galaxy would be enormous."

FireFox
2009-06-03, 07:04 PM
Oh, is that it? How about I can have my people call your people and share notes? I've been medically studied since birth. You won't get better information on your own, at least, not for awhile.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 07:12 PM
Another dark chuckle emerges from the hood. "Oh, we considered that. However we then thought, why should we rely on the, potentially, biased, reports of someone else when we could find out for ourselves? In the most exquisite detail, too..."
And suddenly, he goes to slip out of Sam's grasp, almost like a shadow....

FireFox
2009-06-03, 07:13 PM
He's liable to get shot in the back of his neck for his trouble.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 07:16 PM
And the robe collapses to the floor.
Empty.

A dark chuckling starts, seeming to come from everywhere....

It might be noted, there don't seem to be any guards...

FireFox
2009-06-03, 07:19 PM
Sam sighs sadly, disappointed. And then raises the gun to her head. Well, looks like my only option is to deny you the... special knowledge about my brain.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 07:28 PM
"Too late, dear Samantha. I already have what I need. If you kill yourself now, I lose nothing except some cleaning fluid." More chuckling from the shadows. "And what would sweet Danielle think? After all, she is right there, waiting to be rescued..."

FireFox
2009-06-03, 07:29 PM
Swearing violently, Sam cautiously goes to Dani.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 07:34 PM
What, she isn't going to go crashing through the glass? :smalltongue:

There's nothing to stop her, surprisingly enough.

Dani looks...rather brusised, from resisting her abduction.. And unconsious. But otherwise alright.

There's a pile of her stuff in the corner.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 07:37 PM
Sam attempts to break through the glass and go get both Dani's stuff and the woman herself.
If it's any consolation, her paranoia is literally almost giving her a heart attack.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 07:40 PM
It shatters!

And there's once more nothing at all to stop Sam from doing...well, pretty much anything she wants to, in fact.

Dani, as mentioned, is out cold.

FireFox
2009-06-03, 07:41 PM
Then Sam starts tapping the emergency recall button on her teleport, frantically looking around the room.

The Bushranger
2009-06-03, 07:47 PM
And the emergency recall...works!

Poof!
