Ok guys, I am making my wizard have a wand as his weapon. How do you figure the price of a wand, and what wand should I wield?

W/o knowing more...

DMG, Table 7-26, page 246.

Depending on your level, you might not even be able to have a wand.

GOLD: caster level × the spell level × 750 gp / 2
XP: caster level × the spell level × 750 gp / 25

So a 1st level spell, at caster level 1, is 375 Gold and 30 XP to make.
A 3rd level spell, at caster level 5, is 5625 Gold and 450 XP to make.

To just buy a wand, it's caster level × the spell level × 750 gp flat.

Spell level x caster level x 750gp to buy one. Caster level must be at least the minimum required to know the spell. They are always crafted with 50 charges, but you might find a used one with less. Crafting one yourself with the craft wand feat is half that price but you also pay 1/25th that price in xp. You may make the caster level equal to or lower than your own, as long as it meets the minimum required caster level.

And if your DM is cool, you can create wands with fewer charges for proportionally reduced gold cost. :smallwink:

Check the local Magic Mart, they always have a couple partially charged ones of the type you need.
