View Full Version : Master Wizardly Type

I was building a Wizard with the idea of mastering multiple types of magic paradigms.

I am aiming to have access to Spellpools and Circle Magic in particular.
He is to be a pure Wizard with full spellcasting progression.

I also would rather him be of good alignment, and as suggested male and Human.
I also wish to use a feat slot for Collegiate Wizard (suits him) and gain access at some point to ultimate magus. (using Spellmastery + Signature Spell)
This has posed some strange problems for me.
In order to access circle magic at all it seems that I either need to be an evil specialist or be a female multi class caster.

Does anyone know of a feat or any sort of tricksy method to gain access to circle magic?

Also other things I would like to be able to include are: Rune Magic or rune styled magic for an arcane caster. Any odd magics or something perculiar only to a prestige class or odd-ball society.

No restrictions on the books. Just needs to be some moderately official that I could convince a DM about.

I have included Guild Mage of Waterdeep as my favourite class for spellpools, but I am only aware of the GMoW and MotAO. If there are more I would like to have a look.

At some point I am looking at wanting to include Drift Magic and Snowcasting and any other environmental based casting as such as well.
Any method of easily adding Druid and/or ranger spells to his spell list would be very cool as well.

But remember, Wizard Class only and always keeping full casting progression.

Much apreciated. :)

EDIT: Using RAW

Ask your DM to rewrite Red Wizard. There's certainly nothing inherently evil about their class abilities.

No, I agree.

But I am aiming for somethign RAW so it cannot be complained about and I am not as subject to the whims of strange idiocies. lol.

EDIT:
Actually another Question as well.
Say I have both the prestige classes that give access to spell pool. Does the spellpool level stack?
Or do I just get two chances to get a spell?
Say I have Spellpool I from two classes. Does it stack to make Spellpool II (which I doubt) or just make one huge spellpool I (in which case it is probably pointless). lol.

Their fluff however...

Ok. This is the best I can do from 1-22:

Human
Lawful Neutral
Region: Thay

Level 1: Wizard 1
Wizard: Scribe Scroll
Level 1: Collegiate Wizard
Human: Spell Mastery
Flaw: Signature spell
Flaw: Mind over Body
Level 2: Wizard 2
Level 3: Wizard 3
Level 3: Named Spell[METAMAGIC]
Level 4: Wizard 4
Level 5: Ultimate Magus 1
Level 6: Incantrix 1 - Abjurer Specialist. Barred: Necromancy
Incantrix: Named spell, Greater[METAMAGIC]
Level 6: Spell Focus (Abjuration)
Level 7: Master Specialist 1
MSpec: Skill Focus (spellcraft)
Level 8: Guild Wizard of Waterdeep 1
Level 9: Red Wizard 1 - Barred: Illusion
Level 9: Tattoo Focus
Level 10: Guild Wizard of Waterdeep 2
Level 11: Red Wizard 2
Level 12: Guild Wizard of Waterdeep 3
GWoW: Craft Rune Circle[ITEM]
Level 12: Drift Magic
Level 13: Red Wizard 3
Level 14: Guild Wizard of Waterdeep 4
Level 15: Red Wizard 4
Level 15: Storm Magic
Level 16: Guild Wizard of Waterdeep 5
GWoW: Improved Counterspell
Level 17: Red Wizard 5
Red Wizard: Tattoo Magic[ITEM]
Level 18: Guild Wizard of Waterdeep 6
Level 18: Snowcasting
Level 19: Guild Wizard of Waterdeep 7
Level 20: Guild Wizard of Waterdeep 8
Level 21: Guild Wizard of Waterdeep 9
Level 21: Epic Spellcasting
Level 22: Guild Wizard of Waterdeep 10

Without gaining any more prestige classes I have Ultimate Magus, Incantrix and Master Specialist to advance in beyond level 22, all of which are very cool classes. Though Ultimate Magus is the better I think. If I gain one more school of spell focus I could move into Archmage which would suit as well.

So can anyone offer ideas to optimise this or answer my questions above?
lol.

Fluff wise if your playing in FR, I don't belive the wizards of water deap would accept you if your a red wizard?

You have enough magic at your disposal by then to make sure they never find out.

Also he is neutral.
Doesnt have to be some giant overlord. lol.
He could even be an exil from Thay, so I could ajust to have his red wizard levels first.

I was thinking that MotAO is slightly better now though looking at it.
I get Spell Pool III at level 7 instead of 10. So I only need 12 levels used on Red Wizard and MotAO to Get Circle Leader and Spell Pool III.
Gives me more levels of UM. :)

Solves the fluff problem.
Though I don't get Improved Counterspelling for free. :(
