Not every reader is a D&D geek. So what other spell has been set up, what other spell can the average reader expect at this point?

explosive runes the way V uses always begins with "I cast" so it saying "guess what spell I cast before giving this to the bird." meanns it is DEFINITELY explosive runes. Rich tries to appeal to people who haven't played D&D before so why would he use a completely obscure spell no matter how useful it would be? even core spells a lot of readers wouldn't get which kind of detracts from the funny.
