i was bored and needed a distraction from my trivial endeavors that occupy my waking moments so i decided to do the most logical thing. attempt to fold one thousand cranes! i started folding paper cranes from some leftover sheets of origami paper, and scraps of magazines. twentyish hours of pointlessly tedious meditation later i was done.

now this isn't the first time i've engaged in this act. this most recent string brings my totally to 10000.

Man, that's cool. I always had a small aesthetic fascination with said paper cranes.

that's supposed to make your wish come true or something.

i do origami, but there is no way i could do that a thousand times, i think i would go crazy.

I believe so. I read it in a book way back in elementary school about it. Some chick got cancer or something, and tried to fold 1000 cranes and wish to be better.

... As I remember, this didn't turn out well for her.

That aside, I think it's cool that you can fold those so quickly. That's roughly one crane every 1.2 minutes. I can't even make one.

Oh my God. O.O

Now all that is left to do is to animate them somehow (I suggest lightning), and then you have an invincible origami army.

Well, invincible if the enemy hasn't got any scissors, or fire, or water, or...

OK, not so invincible. But it'd look cool.

What have you done with them so far?

...I favor the idea of ...firestorm myself...:smallamused:

Actually, that could be awesome.

Step 1: Apply gasoline, petrol, etc.

Step 2: Apply fire.

Step 3: Drop from a high place.

Step 4: Get 10,000,000 YouTube hits.

You forgot Steps 5 and 6.

Step 5: ???

Step 6: PROFIT!!!

You, my good sir, are far too patient for your own good. I believe I can channel that patience somewhere more productive if you will become my vassal?

Call me harsh but I feel there are more productive things to do with one's time...:smalltongue:

You're inspiring me to do kusudama. Although I can't remember most of the folds so I'd need to pull out my old book.... if I can find it.... and find the time...

That's amazing. I barely remember how to make cranes, much less have the patience to make 10,000 of them.

currently, they're obstructing an emergency exit. is that sinister enough?

maybe.

But something involving a stick of butter a car and 20 pounds of pudding would be better.

also if you do that somehow film it.

Well done, reorith! I suck at Origami, but you have the skillz. Out of curiosity, do you keep them?

Now that IS awesome. I just imagined a hillarious horror flick involving your cranes. They're animated, have the urge to kill, and there's OVER NINE THOUSAND of them (10,000 you said? Good gravy).

*raises hand* I want a flower or an animal! :D hehehe

Origami is cool. It also makes nice, cheap decorations.

... As I remember, this didn't turn out well for her.

She made it to 644 before she became too weak to fold paper. They say that her classmates folded the other 356 after her death.

At my high school, kindergarteners folded paper cranes, made them into strings, and then gave them to graduating seniors. Mine are still hanging in my room.

I find origami an interesting art. It seems like it should have some significance, but at the same time, it seems like a sort of throw-away art form. I don't know.

Anyway, congrats reorith, that's really cool even if I do think it's "throw-away art."

there is some significance with feng shui in the use of the four animal spirits, the tortoise, the tiger, the dragon and the phoenix in regard to color selection and placement within a house.

:smallfurious: just kidding, the fact that i have a box of tiny crane confetti that i'll toss from a high place somewhere goes to support your claim.

This is so cool. ^_^ I fold origami compulsively so I figure I must have hit a thousand cranes by now. But I never got around to stringing them all together. And yes, you get a wish. Make it a good one.
