I was hoping you guys on these boards could help me with my custom Mothman race.

Here is what I have so far:

+2 Con -2 Cha

Medium
Base Land Speed: 30 feet

Compound Eyes: -2 on spot checks, but cannont be caught flat-footed by things it can see.

Wings: +4 to Jump checks acts as if under the Feather Fall spell
The mothman looses both bonuses if he either looses his wings or wears unmodified armor (Modification 1d6x50)

Exoskeletal Plating: +1 to AC

Edit: LA: 1

Are you inventing an original race of anthropomorphic moths, or basing them on the actual urban legend? If the latter, I'd suggest some natural affinity for divination spells.

Umm... Whats the level adjustment you were going for, also with wings you should beable to glide in a direction i think isntead of having feather fall, or perhaps both.

LA +1 or +2 i think. Constant feather fall, +4 to a skill, +1 AC

but has to wear modified armor? LA +1 I think.

Wings: +10 to Jump checks, gliding(20 ft per 10 feet down, and no fall damage.)
The mothman loses both bonuses if he either looses his wings or wears heavy armor or carries a medium or heavy load.

Exoskeletal Plating: +1 nat. armor bonus to AC



How do you like the mods?

The WotC Mothfolk:

+2 Str and Dex, +4 Wis
2 racial Outsider Hit Dice
+2 Natural Armour
Fear Aura (Su): All within 20 feet must take a Will save (DC 10+1/2 hit dice + Cha mod) or be affected as by a fear spell.
Large
Fly speed 300ft (good)
60ft darkvision
+4 to Balance, Climb, Listen and Move Silently

What's the LA on that sucker?

Technically, LA is +1, but that's because it uses Modern rules. In D&D, maybe +2?

+2 at least, maybe even +3 to compensate for the fly speed.

Perhaps if you take this, and change the wis from +4 to say -2 you would have LA+0 or would you have to take away the strengh bonus to get it down to 0

To get it to +0 LA you'd have to reduce it to medium size, so -2 Str +2 Dex. -2 Wis, No fear aura, fly speed down to about 50 ft..
Even then, you still have the Racial Hit Die to deal with.

That fly speed seems way too brokenly fast.

Well since it's not intended to be a PC race, that's not really a problem.

So i stummbled onto this a few days ago but have no memory of posting it. When i went to school the next day and talked to a friend of mine he told me i forgot to log off and he posted it and forgot to tell me.

It looks to me as if he was trying to make a new pc race. The other race shouldn't be played as a pc race.

Bah. They'd be terrible in a dungeon. You can't use a torch without singeng them.
