Welcome to the 22nd ABR Discussion Thread!
Now go make comics!
Because we used to burn through new ABR threads so quickly, we created the Discussion thread. All banter goes here, and all comics and non-canon kills go in the main thread. (see line below)
No, this one doesn't count. I meant the non-white text line.
Avatar Battle Royale: We All Live in A Yellow Citadel (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88925) is the current thread. Post artwork there.
It's the line above this one.
The ABR backup thread (http://z15.invisionfree.com/Remember/index.php?showtopic=161), used in the event of Giantitp becoming untenable due to server issues or otherwise.
Hopefully GiantitP will remain stable for the time being though.
Trailer for the Fat Fish Fury plot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uqh4cOewDNg) by Kpenguin
Which is quite good, although it could have used some more images.
Trailer for ABR (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMSlrT_9Goc) by Omicroncubed
Which was meant to have music, but didn't. :(
Future Imperfect Trailer (http://s185.photobucket.com/albums/x203/tomshaer/?action=view&current=ABRFITrailer.flv) by Nameless
It's very short.
The Amazing ABR Wiki (http://abr.wetpaint.com/)
Yes, I know there are better Wiki sites out there. Live with it.
The world map of Avbaroy (http://abr.wetpaint.com/page/Avbaroy)
And no matter what Rand says, the Eternal Ruins are because of the Cataclysm.
Backstory Comics
Because people want the focus to be on them.

No, I have not started making such, so you can go right ahead, skimmy...Though I did make something else. ABR demotivators! I took the liberty of using panel art from various artists, and I have mentioned the artists in each case, but if you feel like I should not use your art, you can just say here or send PM and I will take it down.

Well, I just google'd 'Sarcasm' and the only link was to here... Very strange.

So it's either just a really obscure word or another of Nameless' misspellings.

Why reupload them? All the other archives just use the same image that was posted in the thread.

Also, I suppose your filing system could work. I'd prefer just having the episode names bolded, and all the comics in that episode underneath it, but that's just me.

While you are at it, old friend, I have an idea you might use...

The heroes are congratulating themselves on the recent victory, but then GR and TnD come out of the inferno and GR remarks something along the lines of "not a chance, though you did ruin my cloak. How coincidental! I mean what are the odds! 365 to 1 I guess.
That you and the_Q have the same birthday? Assuming an equal distribution of birthdays throughout the year, 2.74×10−3.
The odds that you have the same birthday as any ABRer is substantially higher.
And the odds that any two ABRers have the same birthday is higher still.

IT'S XARTY'S BIRTHDAY!!! Congrats

No, Xartyve2's birthday is on the 24th of June. This was heavily implied on the previous page.

Kitties have been proven to feel no attachment to their owner, other than the enjoyment of getting fed and being pet/played with. It's not a social pleasure; it's physical. So if you died, and someone else came to feed it and pet it, your kitty wouldn't care at all.

Plus they scratch stuff up, eat your food on counters, are antisocial, and cause allergic reactions with a great number of people in nations with good healthcare.

Cats suck.

Also: Yes, dogs do do none of that. Sure, they do need to be potty trained, but that's about it. Dogs feel attachment to owners. Dogs will actually play with you (not just petting and scratching), and, although they're slightly obnoxious when they bark, it's hilarious; mine is 15 pounds, and she always tries to pick fights with dogs ten times her size.

Q: I have a dog, and I've never had a cat, and I've been bitten by cats at least ten times as much as I've been bitten by dogs. Plus, unless you pick them up off the street, there's no chance they have rabies; if you do, there's a very slim chance.

Dogs can ask for food or to go outside; cats will instead go ahead and steal food from your cupboards/counters, as they can climb on stuff.

Vampire: My dog is much cuter than that. Her ears are at least four times as big, her eyes are twice as big, her snout is a more baby-like proportion (as opposed to scrunched), and she's almost nine years old. That kitty looks ugly. I feel sorry for it.

Rand: I approve.

Also, trump card: dogs are fun to be licked by. When cats lick you, it feels like gravel is being scratched across your hand or face.

While I like cats, if I had the choice between either a dog or a cat as a pet. I'd take the dog. Probably a Great Dane, maybe a German Shepherd. Because they're awesome. A cat may be fun when it's a kitten, but they tend to become too.. unpredictable when they grow up. You might have a cat that'll want to spend every waking moment with you. Or you'll get a little beast that'll claw you to shreds if you come within 10 feet of it. If you put the same amount of effort into raising a dog, and you don't do any stupid things. Then you'll invariably have a loyal friend. Such is my experience anyways.*

In terms of practicality, a dog will protect it's home and "family" should it have to. A cat is going to sit in a corner, and hiss a bit. Maybe it'll go look for some food afterwards.
http://www.buypepperspray.ws/files/1680823/uploaded/angry_dog.jpg

*Just my opinion though, for the record I've had 2 cats and 5 dogs. The folks used to run a kennel ya know. :smalltongue:

Cats play with you too. A feather or fake mouse on a string can be great fun with a cat. And the 15 pound dog is hilarious. But the main thing is, dogs are normally pack animals while cats are solitary. So, dogs do make for a bit better pet. Some poeple (like me) just like cats better.

Dogs can ask for food or to go outside; cats will instead go ahead and steal food from your cupboards/counters, as they can climb on stuff.

Cats can ask to go outside by scratching on the screen. And they can ask for food to, they just get it themselves because they know how and they're more independant than dogs.

Also, trump card: dogs are fun to be licked by. When cats lick you, it feels like gravel is being scratched across your hand or face.

Yes. Dog licks are much less scratchy. But lots of people find the incredible amount of dog saliva in one lick repulsive. It really is a matter of your personal preferences.

Dogs don't always do it for your enjoyment, but they do like to play with their owners simply to form a bond with them, much in the same way children would rather play together than go to some drifter on the street. Cats don't mind, as long as they have fun. Dogs like the attachment in addition to the fun.

Plus, dogs can tell when you're upset, and come walk up to you, lick your hand, and show you how cute they are to make you happy again. I doubt cats ever do that, as they don't give a rat's ass about your condition.

See, but here's the reality: Dogs don't do anything for you at all. We all might like to think they do, but they don't. Not intentionally.

They suck up to you not because they like you or anything, but because it benefits them. They don't form a bond with their owners, they just know that their owners won't kill them and will feed them. If you die and are replaced, dogs will notice, but worry about themselves rather then you and worry that the new guy might not feed them the same way.

Cats might not care as well, but at least they admit it. Sort of.

And yes, my cats have cheered me up in the past. A lot more then my past dogs have. *&^%#ing mutts. :smallsigh:

:smallsigh:...Q, did you remember to take your medication this morning?

WTF are you talking about...? :smallconfused:

I'm sure you're going to continue and say that World War II never really happened, and it was all a conspiracy to try to get people to hate Germany and Japan for no reason... I have decided this dog vs. cat war must end. These are my points:

Both puppies and kittens are extremely cute. Neither is cuter than the other, as it really depends on the individual animals appearances.

Both dogs and cats, due to their wild ancestry, are badass.

Both dogs and cats make excellent pets. Which one is better depends on the individual animals personalities and behaviors, and the owner's preferences.

Both dogs and cats are insignificant compared to the complete awesomeness that is...

We all know everything is worse with bears (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ptitleeyyr8ln8spjv). :smalltongue:

Now, first of all, that has nothing to do with anything. Second of all, I've lived my life. I have retired. The fact I spend my days on the computer means nothing.

And that's because I don't like to debate. I like to have conversations. Friendly conversations.

And no, I don't beleive that. I just don't believe dogs love you so much they would donate all of their organs to you for no reason, like you say. They are animals. They are survivors. They don't care about humans.

Basically, dogs like humans like humans like their bosses at work. We only pretend to like them because they help us survive, even though they basically own us.

They don't think like that at all. They feel a need for social interaction, as do we. You've been married, right? Did you only actually get married so you could have part of your wife's assets and have her do work for you? I highly doubt it. oh, and that zombie army that the sock-stealing wombat created (which was your fault BTW) will only help the OCTO-CORGY in its feindish plans.

Um, did you guys all get high while I was eating dinner? :smallconfused::smalleek:

Anyway, while I was having dinner, I had a chance to reflect upon my arguement with Tried & Drowzy, and my whole experience tip-toeing into the internet with this forum in general. I asked myself this question: "What the heck do we humans WANT in a social interaction?!"

I thought long and hard about this question. Quite puzzling indeed.

We don't want people to diagree with us, as I have learned many, many times. If we are given reasons as to why our opinions are flawed and stupid, we feel bad, don't we?

But we don't want people to agree with our ideas either! Then it's over way too easy with no closure! You didn't win the arguement!

Then I thought about this: Do we want people to just not say anything at all? Obviously not. Nobody likes to be ignored.

Aso I ask you all, great minds of your generation, to think for one moment and be philosophical. Help me come to the conclusion to my question.

...After you all come down from your high, of course. :smallsigh:

Then again, I've always felt uneasy when somebody agrees with me. Is that just me?
