In the distance. There is always something in the distance. Something new, something old. It can be wonderful, horrible, both or neither. But there is always something there. Even if you can't see it.

You're driving along the road, looking for a gas stop. You would have probably been able to see, maybe you've even passed it, but there's so much fog you can't even tell. It certainly feels wrong. Is it Magic? Demons? Rogue mages? Low clouds? Doesn't matter if it's a small time mage, an imp or percepitation; there are bigger fish to fry, new objective. There report was scattered, a neo-sorcerer channeling through a radio. Something about someone named "Sol", or something. You barely made out the coordinates, and the GPS is running out of power.

On the road, as you try to wipe through the fog, you see a young woman with dark skin and a baseball cap wearing a hoodie. You're going to fast to slow down, and you see on her face she can't get away. What do you do?

Someone Else
2009-06-10, 05:46 PM
Drake's a little out of it as he drives along the road. He's known better times, but he's known worse

Then, he sees her. Young girl out in the middle of the road, his headlights staring down at her....

With a curse, Drake slammed on the brakes, spinning the wheel with a muttered obscenity, trying to get out of the young woman's way... he'd let himself get too distracted, and this...

Otogi
2009-06-11, 06:25 PM
The girl is gone. She's disappeared. There's no trace of her, it's like she vanished.

What do you do?

Someone Else
2009-06-11, 06:58 PM
Drake looks around the area, confused. This is more than a little odd... is Sol, or whatever minor demon here, plaguing him? Was the girl an illusion?

He puts the idea to the back of his mind, and starts to examine the area. Is there truly nowhere she could have gone? Search[roll0]

Otogi
2009-06-11, 08:53 PM
Search: You don't find anything. Not even some kind of magic residue or aura. It's like it was a mirage or something. Maybe even a hallucination...

The fog is getting thick and the trail seems smaller. What do you do?

Someone Else
2009-06-12, 12:38 AM
Curseing, Drake heads back to his car, looking to drive on for a little while now... this seems like some sort of illusion. Like that girl, probably...

Still, he slows up. Just in case. He didn't want to go entirely off road yet

Otogi
2009-06-13, 09:07 AM
As you drive down the road, you notice gas is running low. It seems like is starting to clear up now, but only is small spots. It seems to almost disappear in in front of a bunch of thin, fall trees and a gravel road.

Someone Else
2009-06-13, 09:34 AM
"Damn it...."

Drake will take the car as far as it'll go along the gravel, looking about for any possible service station.... this isn't looking goood.

Otogi
2009-06-14, 07:13 PM
On the gravel road, you notice an odd sight. For one, all the stones are turned upward with their sharpest points at top. The fog seems to get a bit deeper, and strangely, darker, as if in the shade.

Someone Else
2009-06-14, 07:23 PM
"Sol"

Drake whispered the name under his breath has he looked out at the gravel. This wasn't natural, couldn't be natural. And when there was a powerful mage in the area...

He continued whispering under his breath as the car slowed as he started to look around....

"This is your work, isn't it?"

Either trying to use illusions to psych the agent out....

Or else, in the middle of a powerful ritual, with odd...

Drake shook his head, as he slowly resumed the accellerator, keeping his eyes about him now.

"You hear me, bastard? I'm Nathaniel Drake. This isn't the best I've ever seen..."

[roll0] Will save, trying to "disbelieve the illusion", focus on reality.... whatever good it'll do.

[roll1]Notice check. Trying to see if there's anything hidden in the mists...

Otogi
2009-06-16, 05:16 AM
Will: You fail notice any illusion. No, this is all natural, or it's all been changed somehow. It could be a prank and some pretty selective weather, but they are trying really hard to get to you.

Notice: Strangely enough, you do something greenish and red, and while that's not unusual in fall, it seems to be lower than where leaves would be

Someone Else
2009-06-16, 05:50 AM
Hmm...

The sight intrigues Drake... he doesn't adjust the car's speed, not wanting to alert whatever it is, but switches to driving with one hand for a few seconds, whilst withdrawing a slender black oak baton from his pocket, topped with a red gem; the Crimson Wand

Just in case...

Then, placing a second hand on the wheel, and flicking the lights to full beam, Drake continued along the road.

There's got to be some sign of civilization around here... if not a service station, a garage, or someone with the technical skills to transfer petrol from one car to another.

Otogi
2009-06-17, 05:42 AM
In the rear view mirror, you see something coming up. It's also green and reddish, and flailing it's arms. It's getting closer, but it's features aren't getting any clearer. It's not making any noise besides stepping on crumpled leaves.

It's finally up to you. It looks like an emaciated, diseased and shirtless man. His face is hidden by the roof and he still isn't making any sounds. He's not really even doing anything. He's just strafing with your car, matching it's speed but not changing his direction.

Someone Else
2009-06-17, 05:48 AM
What the hell....

Drake tried not to focus on the man.... yet. This thing couldn't be natural, to be keeping up with a car, but it seemed like a distraction... instead, he slowly increased the car's speed... if there was a distraction, it heralded a trap... and he didn't want to be caught in it.

Otogi
2009-06-18, 08:34 PM
The man moves as the car moves. Your car begins to die out and starts to lock up. Your halted to a stop, with the man still outside the window. He still isn't moving, and still not making any sounds. Now that you can get a good look at him, something about his flesh looks wrong. Very wrong.

Someone Else
2009-06-19, 12:33 AM
Oh. Not good.....

Drake breaths deeply, just sitting there, as he tries to think of a plan...

Ok. There's not another way out of here. That.... thing, is alone for now. It's not attacking.... might be waiting for back up

Get out, and back away. If it attacks, blast and run.

Slowly, he got out of the car, going through his door, clutching the wand a little more tightly than he needed....

Otogi
2009-06-19, 07:53 AM
The man walks, almost striding, to the trees. He ruffles into the bushes and is gone in a second.

Someone Else
2009-06-19, 03:38 PM
"****!"

Drake doesn't fire first, that's not his way... but this was a bad situation. The worst.; Stuck, in the middle of nowhere, with no car, a possible hostile he can't see, and a master mage behind the scenes somewhere.

He twirled the wand a little as he, looked around, into the foggy night, in the direction he was heading. Could he make anything out?

Otogi
2009-06-21, 03:38 PM
Short of small, declining hill, you can't see anything. The mist is starting to stick to your clothes and face. It also sticks to your wand, but instead of leaving water, it leaves a red-brown residue that feels like oil as it drips down.

Make an Ego save

Someone Else
2009-06-21, 03:55 PM
Err... sorry to sound stupid, but what is an Ego save? I don't recall that one....

Otogi
2009-06-21, 05:30 PM
It's a variant save measures against horrors or social stress. It was on the front page. I'm not sure if I should scrap the idea and just make it a Will save now

EDIT: Nevermind, just roll a Will save

Someone Else
2009-06-22, 08:42 AM
Drake mutters at the effect of the rain upon the wand, trying to wipe it off as he slowly starts to walk towards the hill in the distance... that provided something to focus on... something better than the possibility that Sol could be meddling with his main method of defending himself

[dice]1d20+5[/roll] Will Save

Otogi
2009-06-22, 06:40 PM
You feel you're heart beat faster and a mix of sweat and precipitation covers your face, but it passes and you feel better. The red-brown oil-like substance is still on your wand and it's beginning to stray towards your hand, but it's melting to the ground quicker and quicker, leaving puddles that seem to fade away instead being absorbed.

Someone Else
2009-06-22, 06:42 PM
Drake shakes the wand a little as he goes, a little faster now, trying to dislodge any of the substance still there... he wasn't sure what it was, but would prefer not to touch it.

Is the wand showing any signs of damage from this?

Otogi
2009-06-22, 07:40 PM
Perhaps. Maybe it will damage it, maybe it will boost it. You'll just have to throw a hail marry and hope that the dark influences are very easy to shake off.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 08:00 AM
Drake sighed, cursing as he sped his pace to an outright brisk walk. He hasn't the ability or time to perform an in-depth examination out here...

Does he really wish to rely on something like this... leave it free for the darkness to corrupt?

With a sigh, he placed it inside his Jacket pocket, Hopefully that would keep it safe from these mists, whatever they be, at least for now.

Otogi
2009-06-23, 02:49 PM
In the far off edge of the trees, you see a building, a few vestiges of buildings after that. It might just be the fog, but you swear you see a few of them them almost, kind of warp.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 02:53 PM
Well, brilliant. This is probably where Mr. Sol has set up shop.

Drake was a little worried, this wasn't something he'd experienced before... but still, he had to try. Buildings might mean shelter from this mist, enough to check more completely on the want. And if Sol was there, and it was Sol that was meddling with everything here, he needed to be taken down. Then, with a little luck, the damn mission would be over...

With a slightly grim smile, he heads toward the buildings, at a brisk walk

Otogi
2009-06-23, 03:31 PM
When you finally meet the streets into the urban town, you see a sign.

"Welcome to Silent Hill"

The town is bare, a ghost town. The lights are on, and you swear you can hear a revving.

When actually step onto the streets, the first section of lights turn off, and flicker back on. Another section does the same, and keeps doing it as far as the eye can see.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 03:35 PM
Something is affecting this place... It's either haunted, or the sight of some sort of... ritual...

Drake theorizes as he goes, looking about as he walks into the town's streets (though the light flickering doesn't quite make him flinch) The mist is arcane in nature... did it stop at the town boundaries?

Otogi
2009-06-23, 03:37 PM
Something, something like a laundry cart getting knocked over, echos in the distance.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 03:40 PM
Drake immediately turns to look in the direction of the noise

"Well, this place isn't deserted."

With a grim smile, he walks towards the sound of the clattering steel.... keeping his eyes active. Anything could happen here...

Otogi
2009-06-23, 03:45 PM
That sound comes again, but you're not really sure where, except that it sounds like it's in a building.

Somewhere near.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 03:50 PM
Drake looks about him, at the buildings in this small time

Don't know what that is, but can't be good....

[roll0] Notice, to try and find it

Otogi
2009-06-23, 03:59 PM
You can't hear or see anything. Anything you haven't already seen.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 04:02 PM
Drake curses. He heads towards the building closest to the one he thought that metal sound had come from, a little brisk, but also nervous... he hesitates at the door, before slowly opening it....

Otogi
2009-06-23, 04:17 PM
Through the cracks, you see a broken down store with the bare minimum in supplies. There is dust and debris everywhere, and the glass doors that used to hold drinks is empty with the windows shattered and all but one light out.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 04:21 PM
Drake tries to enter... is the door locked?

Otogi
2009-06-23, 04:23 PM
The glass door swings open, rustily but still holding on.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 04:26 PM
I meant the front door.... :) Though that kind of answers it.

Drake keeps his ears as open as possible, as he looks around... any other rooms that the noise might have come from?

Otogi
2009-06-23, 04:41 PM
There's a sign next to the freezer doors that says "Bathrooms" with a paper sign taped below saying "Out of Order". Everything else to dark and dusty to really see.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 04:44 PM
Drake curses, looking about this small room. Would a torch really be too much to ask for? This was supposed to be a shop of some kind....

Hey, this is the longest run we've had in ages of posting together. :) And congrats, I've got the hairs on the back of my neck rising at this point.

Otogi
2009-06-23, 04:51 PM
The light of the only working freezer flickers, and with a single reddish object in front of it.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 04:55 PM
Drake heads towards it, hoping against hope....

Otogi
2009-06-23, 04:59 PM
Against the flicking lights, with the cooled air brushing against your hands, coat and the bare skin of your neck, is a red bottle with some advertising imagery.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 05:03 PM
Drake sighs Why did this thing stand out..?

Well, it was about as useful as anything else. If a counterspell requires fluids...

He smiled a little, remembering his training, as he pockets the pottle. That calmed him somewhat. He was being irrational here. This place might be mostly deserted, but there was someone around here. Still that was no reason to crouch in fear of shadows...

What are light conditions like right now, in general

Otogi
2009-06-23, 05:15 PM
As you pocket the bottle, you hear the sound of etching, like someone is closing a door or moving some furniture. It seems to be happening above you.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 05:19 PM
Drake twitches at that

Company....

With a movement, he withdrew the Crimson Wand and channelled a little power through it... just the most minuscule amount he could manage, as he looked the thing over

[roll0]Arcane Lore, on trying to see how the wand's been affected by it's brush with the mists Drake's not the sort to appreciate a combat tool he can't rely on

Otogi
2009-06-23, 05:26 PM
Sorry, forgot about the light. It's a gray, daytime outside and the freezer light is bright enough to barely illuminate the room except for behind the counter and the hallway to the bathroom. With the wand channeled, though, you can see behind the counter.

You know that the wand is somewhat tainted. If you use it, there is a chance that it will hurt you, or worse. It looks like it could shake off in a while though.

You see a safe behind the counter, and, more interestingly, a door.

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 05:30 PM
Will the wand's taint leave it quicker or more slowly if Drake keeps it channelled?

Drake heads behind the counter, wand providing some light as he opens the door....

Otogi
2009-06-23, 05:40 PM
Neither. Perhaps...

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 05:45 PM
[roll0] Arcane Lore on that question. :p And the door is now open. ;)

Otogi
2009-06-23, 05:54 PM
It depends on the channeling. The stronger you do so, the faster the taint gathers. But that's just a fundament on how cursed objects work. This is...strange, maybe an anomaly

Which door, again?

Someone Else
2009-06-23, 05:59 PM
Not the vault, the normal door. And Drake isn't sure if he should channel it more, leave it off (and thus potentially subject to more of whatever it is) or leave it at it's current level. But he needs a light, so for now, he'll keep it up, until he's worked out what's upstairs.

Otogi
2009-06-23, 06:14 PM
Okay, door position status confirmed!

Well, I hope you made the right choice, Drake. It's not always easy.

You hear a loud thump from up the stairs.

Right after that, a small white ball with a blue spot on falls down from the stairs.

Someone Else
2009-06-24, 12:58 AM
Err.... :smalleek: I don't know what worries me more, whatever's going on

Or the fact that Drake just resolved enough of his fear to do something stupid.

Yeah. :( Either my absense of experiance with SH is going to haunt me... or you're trying to make me paranoid

Well.... your selling point for this game was "Silent Hill; Superheroes." So Physical harm isn't that likely yet, right?

With a growl, Drake charged, jumping over the banister to avoid the ball, and heading up the stairs

Otogi
2009-06-24, 05:56 PM
What's the difference between the physical and mental, other than the bruises and blood?

Your dash upstairs in halted by a waist-high dresser at the top. It hides anything behind it, but you can see that dim lights illuminate the upper floor.

Someone Else
2009-06-25, 01:49 PM
Drake doesn't pause, trying to vault over the blasted dresser.... it was only waste high, it should be doable...

I'm not sure on your phrasing here.... if this is simply impossible, or close to it, say OOC.

Otogi
2009-06-25, 07:17 PM
As you hop over the dresser, you see that the upstairs is something like an apartment complex with dirty, tiled floors and beige, chipped paint.. There are six doors across the hall, and a window right right next to you. The light apparently came from a flickering bulb up above a bulky mailbox.

Through the window, you see another, lower window opening. There are some boxes, but that's all you can see.

Someone Else
2009-06-26, 12:44 AM
Drake... blinks. An appartment complex above a small shop? In a small town like this?

Still, he looked about, not moving forward yet. Are any of the doors open?

Otogi
2009-06-26, 12:00 PM
The locks are different than the ones you're familiar with, so it's hard to tell.

Most of the doors are marked with numbers, except one that's marked with the letter b.

Someone Else
2009-06-27, 05:51 PM
Drake is methodical. He walks along to the doors, listening, and taking in the individual numbers... where does the b come into this sequence?

[roll0] Notice, for anything behind the doors...

Otogi
2009-06-28, 05:24 PM
Everything seems normal, but for a few seconds everything seems to get blurry. Everything looks like it's covered with a clouded window. You can't hear anything but a strange ring that sounds like a fire alarm.

You swear you see a dark blotch coming from corner that's been closed off. The ring beings to soften, with a pattering of footsteps taking it's place. The botch passes you and goes out of your vision.

Another few seconds goes by. Your vision clears, the ringing stops. Everything is back to the way it was.

With no blotch in sight.

Someone Else
2009-06-28, 05:29 PM
Drake twirls around, half expecting an ambush... he'd staggered as the blotch enveloped him.... he looks at the closed off area, staring, looking for anything.

What. The. Hell

He turns around. Which door is he standing next to?

Wow... the Silent Hill way to fumble....

Otogi
2009-06-28, 06:36 PM
I thought it needed a bit more pinach than something silly or just a "you fail, that's it" kinda thing ;)

You're standing next to a door marked "1". It looks pretty normal. The dark green paint is beginning to chip, but it looks up to date.

Someone Else
2009-06-28, 06:58 PM
Drake tenses a little... this was.... wrong....

Then, hand on his want now, he opens the door.

Otogi
2009-06-29, 05:23 PM
The door is locked. You can't even budge the knob more than a slight tip.

Someone Else
2009-06-29, 05:26 PM
Frowning, Drake moved to the door next to this, trying the lock, but not pushing it fully open yet.

Something odd's going on in this place. Probably something to do with Sol, and I'll be damned it I don't find out what.

Otogi
2009-06-29, 09:17 PM
The lock doesn't even move with this one. There isn't any crumbling rust, or even a sound. It just stays.

Someone Else
2009-06-30, 07:44 AM
Drake smiles at that. He's starting to sense a patten here. With a movement, he sets to trying the remaining locks. Anyone'd do... there's something odd going on here...

Otogi
2009-06-30, 02:40 PM
All the locks keep. And they only get harder to budge as you try each one.

Someone Else
2009-06-30, 02:49 PM
Well someone's trying to channel me

Drake stops then, trying to think

I'm frustrated enough to want to bust down a door. Whoever's doing this intended as much. I'm on edge enough to want to find what's hidden. The obvious place to hide something is behind the toughest door.

So...

With a frown, he focuses. Not the rod... the blast that hits the "weakest" lock is from his own personal power, and glows sky blue

Dunno what you want me to roll here....

Otogi
2009-06-30, 09:37 PM
A melee attack roll, I guess.

Someone Else
2009-07-01, 05:34 PM
[roll0] Attack

Otogi
2009-07-02, 01:34 PM
The energy begins to melt away at the lock, and finally blasts open. A hole is left of the knob.

Someone Else
2009-07-02, 01:36 PM
With a slight rush, Drake pushed the handle, as he opened the door, as quickly as he could manage. He wasn't sure on what was behind it.... but if there was some sort of hostile....

Otogi
2009-07-03, 11:58 AM
The door only swings forward for a second before it stops again. In the crease of the opening, there is a rusted chain. The rest is obscure, unseen. It looks kind of like black paint, but smells...strange.

Someone Else
2009-07-04, 05:06 PM
Drake... isn't sure cutting that chain is a good idea. He tries to push the door further in, gently, and ready to pull it straight back, if anything begins to leak.

Otogi
2009-07-06, 10:34 AM
The door doesn't open any further, and all you can see when you push against it is more strange smelling black.

Someone Else
2009-07-06, 10:41 AM
Ok... Well....

Drake was not overfod of the idea of attacking this... whatever it was. But how else could he get through? He could attack another door, of course, but if this thing was a ward, then it was trying to keep him out

There's no way this is a normal town. Probably some sort of mental construct on Sol's part

With a frown, mystic energy begins to spring around Drake's hands....

Ok, if this is impossible (I can't figure out a way to do this with gamestats, short of "Drake's attacking the air") Then Drake's attacking the inky blackness. If not, he's trying to channel as little mystic power as possible through his hands, and seeing how the Blackness reacts to it.

Otogi
2009-07-06, 02:18 PM
The jolt of magical force hits the wall, and burns through. There's a circle of ember on the wall now, and some of the black, inky substance falls to the ground and near your shoe.

It's normal tar.

Someone Else
2009-07-06, 02:22 PM
Sighing, whilst smiling a little, Drake stands back, and to one side, before blasting the door with all his power

Not using the wand. Drake's own power [roll0]

Otogi
2009-07-06, 02:38 PM
The door now has a large dent in it, but is otherwise unaffected. The hinge rattles, and seemed to move further than it should.

Someone Else
2009-07-06, 02:40 PM
Drake frowned

Oh dear... this could end badly

He takes another two steps back, hoping to be out of range of anything coming through, and fires again

[roll0]

Otogi
2009-07-07, 04:57 PM
The door is blasted through, making a large puncture in center. The chain snaps and falls to the floor.

Someone Else
2009-07-07, 04:59 PM
Drake, slowly, carefully, steps towards it, looking through the hole to ensure there was nothing immediately threatening within before opening the door.

Otogi
2009-07-07, 05:33 PM
Except for the some dying force embers, you can't see anything inside. It's to dark.

Someone Else
2009-07-07, 05:41 PM
Drake, sighing, tries to consider. If he could create a little light through channeling magic through his wand, could he, perhaps, do the same with his own, personal power?

Otogi
2009-07-09, 04:54 PM
Your fingers flicker with light and then goes out.

Someone Else
2009-07-09, 04:56 PM
Well, that's that then. I need to find something to light this up. Wandering in with no source of light could eb a bad idea.

Drake, sighing, tries to think.... was there anywhere obvious he saw, such as an electronics shop, that might provide him with a torch? Or any form of light...

I'm not sure what you want to roll here, so feel free to roll it yourself. :) For the sake of pace, if nothing else

Otogi
2009-07-10, 12:47 PM
You remember that the convenient store below had some electronics, batteries and maybe a light.

Someone Else
2009-07-10, 01:04 PM
A light... but wasn't that in a vending machine?

Drake, with a sigh, descended below, looking about for the thing. He didn't know much about electronics, but if he could separate it somehow.

Otogi
2009-07-10, 01:21 PM
The convenient store is still illuminated only by the freezer light. The safe is still open, and the counter is only half picked.

What do you do?

Someone Else
2009-07-10, 01:26 PM
Drake, slowly, starts to take a closer look around the counter, hoping to find a torch... there wasn't much of a stock here, but if he was lucky....

[roll]1d20+5[roll]Search

Otogi
2009-07-11, 11:40 AM
In the safe, you find a small radio-walkie talkie. You also find a flashlight and two battery packs.

Someone Else
2009-07-11, 11:51 AM
Drake smiles as he pockets the battery packs, and the walkie talkie Best to make these count

With that, he heads upstairs, and, taking care to conserve power by only turning it on when directly there, shines the torch through the hole into the room, trying to make out what was inside....

Otogi
2009-07-13, 09:25 AM
You see the walls covered in more black tar. You also see light shining through from some opening.

Someone Else
2009-07-13, 09:26 AM
Drake, sighing, opens the door, turning off the tourch. There seemed to be light within after all....

Otogi
2009-07-13, 02:35 PM
In the distance of the room, you see a frame with some large words painted in brown.

[roll0] Notice.... Though I don't like the fact that I can't take 10 or 20 here. Worrying....

Drake squints to try and make it out....

You can still barely see the words, see much of anything at all really.

Something slams you in the back.

Make a Toughness save

Oh ****.... [roll0]

Drake tried to spin, reaching limply for the Crimson Wand....

Otogi
2009-07-15, 03:13 PM
You see the girl you saw on the highway before, pipe in hands.

EDIT: Forgot to say that you made the save :smalltongue:

Someone Else
2009-07-15, 03:16 PM
Drake blinks, in sheer surprise, before scowling "Hey! What're you doing?"" He holds the Crimson Rod, but doesn't activate it yet.

Otogi
2009-07-16, 01:32 PM
The girl takes a step back, suprised. "I-I thought you were one of them" She says, loosening her grip on the pipe.

Someone Else
2009-07-16, 01:41 PM
"One of who?"

Drake couldn't help the question. He relaxes a little though, placing the Crimson Wand back in his pocket (though he doesn't quite untense fully yet.)

"Never mind that. Who are you? Are you all right? What're you doing here?"

Otogi
2009-07-20, 05:39 PM
"One of them..." she says, turned away. "One of them, Jennifer, I'm fine, I'm stacking up". She looks at you, glowering. "Does that satisfy your curiosity?". She drops the pipe and starts rummaging through a waste basket vigorously. She slows down in time. "I'm sorry" she tells you. "Things are just...tough".

Someone Else
2009-07-20, 05:49 PM
Drake was... unnerved by this, to put it mildly. Still, he tries to manage a sympathetic smile as he looked across at the girl

"Don't worry. It's fine now. I'm sorry for asking"

The agent tries to think... this kid didn't seem well, but there was no way to get her out, and she might know something... Perhaps best to take this one step at a time for now. "What's your name?""

Otogi
2009-07-24, 10:53 PM
She turns her head slightly to the right, continuing the rummaging. Jenifer. It's Jenifer. Who are you, though?

Someone Else
2009-07-24, 11:25 PM
"Nathaniel. Nathaniel Drake,"

Drake tries his level best to seem cool, calm and in control of the situation. Needless to say, he didn't fell any of them. Still, he bent down, to talk on her level

"What are you doing here, Jennifer?"

Otogi
2009-07-27, 08:19 PM
"Just surviving. You know, like most people do". She picks up a few bits of metal and some sort of small machine.

"I don't know why you're here, though. Why you'd even wanna be here doesn't even begin to make sense. Share to care?"

Someone Else
2009-07-27, 10:49 PM
Drake blinked at that.... but the child didn't seem to be joking "Well, I haven't had a lot of choice in the matter. After almost hitting you, my car broke down...."

Drake turns on his detect magic power before responding to this one in any more depth.

He looked at the machine with some interest "What's that?"

Otogi
2009-08-01, 08:56 PM
"Part of an air conditioner, I think. I have a fridge that needs a replacement part, and I guess I make this one work." She says, analyzing the piece.

Jennifer looks baffled at what you just said. "Wait, hitting me? I haven't even been out of this block for at least a few days." She stumbles back a few steps. "Are you okay?"

There isn't any magical about her, at least not arcanely, as one of you're older colleges would say.

Someone Else
2009-08-02, 04:21 AM
"I thought I was..."

Drake blinked, his stomach feeling a little queezy... had he even seen an apartment block in this little, deserted town?

Otogi
2009-08-03, 01:41 PM
Actually, block is a term they use in urban parts to describe a section; they can be pretty common in small towns.

Jennifer steps back a little further. "Look, I have to go back . Good luck with everything" she says, walking away, while occasionally looking back before disappearing around the corner.

Someone Else
2009-08-03, 01:47 PM
"No, wait!"

Drake is seriously unnerved by this... but as Jennifer turns to go he creis out... not too loud, but raising his voice, and following, trying to talk to her.... He doesn't know what's going on here, but he doesn't want to leave a civilian alone in it....

Yeah... Sorry, argot problem. :) The term never cought on in England.

Otogi
2009-08-04, 10:49 PM
By the time you reach back to the staircase, Jennifer is gone.

Someone Else
2009-08-05, 04:36 PM
Drake blinks at that, looking around... Any sign of her? Even a direction to start looking in?

[roll0] Notice

Otogi

There are some foot prints left in the dust, but they to end at hallway. There's a half-print near the window, but it doesn't lead anywhere else.

Someone Else
2009-08-06, 10:55 PM
Drake heads over to the window. Could it have been opened? Any sign of magic?

Otogi
2009-08-08, 12:23 PM
The window has been opened. Any traces of magic are scant, but strangely growing.

Someone Else
2009-08-08, 12:30 PM
Drake quickly heads over to the window. If it's on the ground floor, he'll try to head through it. If on the second floor, he'll take a look outside, over the town, from this vantage point.

Otogi
2009-08-09, 02:36 PM
The window only shows hardwood floor and part of another window.

Someone Else
2009-08-09, 02:48 PM
Odd....

Drake steps back, trying to get his bearings... was there another building that should connect to this? He'd thought this a shop, not some kind of.... well, labyrinth? Even if it was another building, connecting through windows?

Still, he needed to investigate this. Almost as much as the doors back there a way. With a frown, trying to keep a mental picture of everything in his mind, Drake steped through the window, and proceeded to look around the new area

Otogi
2009-08-11, 04:06 PM
Stepping onto the window ledge, you see that your view of the building remains unchanged. There's a sort of ally in between the two, plastic garbage and litter abound. The buildings around you are smaller than this one, but not by much. It's hard to tell, however, as the fog has gotten denser.

Below you, there's a ruffle coming from the alleyway.

Someone Else
2009-08-11, 04:10 PM
Drake looked down, trying to make out what was going on in the darkness....

[roll0]Notice

Otogi
2009-08-12, 06:51 PM
It's really hard to tell. It's gone now.

Someone Else
2009-08-13, 05:58 PM
Drake didn't curse. He simply looked about, trying to see if it would be easy to cross into this secod building...

Otogi
2009-08-15, 05:57 PM
The building is that far off, you could probably make the jump.

Make an acrobatics check.

Someone Else
2009-08-16, 12:28 PM
Drake blinked a little... but this seemed more promising than those doors were. Gritting his teeth, he spent a few seconds gauging the distance, before jumping....

[roll0] Acrobatics

Otogi
2009-08-16, 07:00 PM
You jump to the window, but don't quite make the ledge. You slide to the wall and hit a trash can.

Make a toughness save.

Someone Else

Err....

Sorry for the delay. :( Laptop crashed.

And took my Open Office copy of Drake's sheet with it. :( Lost it I'm afraid....

Otogi
2009-08-28, 08:55 PM
I'm sorry to hear that :smallfrown: Check the OCC thread, though - I think I can make it all better :smallwink:

Someone Else
2009-09-08, 08:51 AM
Drake, hurredly, tried to raise a force field....

I'm back! :) Not sure if he can or not, but worth a shot... if he can, it's an invulnerable one, courtasy of the Crimson Rod. :) No damage with a bonus less than five gets through

[roll0]

Otogi
2009-09-09, 10:58 PM
The field surrounds you in it's red aura, but isn't enough for you to break your fall. You lay on the ground, unable to move. The field fades as the only crimson you can make out is the liquid leaking out of your leg.

You gain 1 bruise point and are stunned. Good to have you back by the way :smallwink:

Someone Else
2009-09-11, 10:45 AM
Thanks :) I know you don't want this game to die :)

Drake, for once, resists the urge to close as he lies there, clutching the wand close, slowly trying to staunch the flow of blood

Otogi
2009-09-12, 05:06 PM
As you clutch your bleeding and probably broken leg, you see that there's something at the corner of the ally. It hard to make out, but it appears to be a man. He stumbles into the ally, going toward you. You see that his hand is placed vertically onto his face, still stunbling toward, no sound made.
