How does a 5-foot step provoke an AoO?

Bastian is getting attack of oppurtunity'd by Chrono, because he's using a ranged weapon (Alchemist's fire) In melee.

As in, Chrono gets to smack him in the face. Bastian is at 0 HP, which means only one standard action a turn. Or one move action. So he's using his last action before he's unconscious to throw the alchemist's fire, in melee range.

The +1 wouldn't happen on his AoO. Because he attacks, then I do. So he hasn't taken the damage yet. Regardless, Bastian collapses at -1 HP. Entirely helpless. Of course, the same will happen in two rounds to Chrono, but in this time he can Coup de Grace.

That isn't necessarily true. If Chrono can land one attack, he'll be sitting at 2 HP, thus the stance. Otherwise unless Chrono makes nothing more than one standard or one move action a round he'll be fine.

I'm still trying to get used to the nuances of the Crusader, but call knock it up to a win for the Crusader?

Considering that Bastian's on the ground, It should be too hard to hit him with a vanguard :smallwink:

And yes. I believe the crusader has won, unless this is a "who can get killed in one hit" competition.
