...minor typos?

Comic #617 (dunno the title since they don't show up on the comic page), third to last panel. "May the gods of forgive me..."

I seem to recall The Giant making tiny edits in strips to clean up typos and suchlike. Figured this might qualify.

I think it qualifies. I just hope that none of those people that get really angry when anyone points out a supposed mistake start ranting here.

The Giant has stated he likes to be appraised of typos, so that he can fix the strips in question before the books go to print. So scan away.

That's an interesting case because it could be "May the gods forgive me" or "May the gods of my people forgive me." Good spot.

The titles Power Meeting, you can see them by going to the archive page.

Yeah, I remember being about to post about that when it first came out, and seeing someone had already posted it. I hadn't actually gone back to check whether it was fixed or not, but I'd have to assume the Giant missed the memo. :)

I suggest you should make the thread title more clear, else the giant may miss it again. He don't read all threads.

I wouldn't worry about that; the mods would likely pick up the errors and report to him. (And "where do we report..." is probably a thread a mod would read :smallwink:)

Cool. There's two in 654 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0654.html). "Suburst" and "Than what am I?"

I know they're all listed on the archive page, but that's needless clicking back and forth when you're trying to just read the comics straight through.

While we're at it, there's a typo in #377 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0377.html). Nale says, "Oh, Sabine, is it nice to see a familiar face."

Well, perhaps it's not a typo, but if so the tone really doesn't come through at all.

This thread should probably be re-named and stickied.

This is true, but if you're going to start a thread about a particular strip, it's not such a big investment in time. In fact I'll bet it takes about the same amount of time as typing "(dunno the title since they don't show up on the comic page)". :smallwink:

What about errors in the titles of the news posts? "In Memorium" should really be "In Memoriam", unless my Latin eludes me.

#389 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0389.html). Something strikes me as strange about the phrase "renown ladies' man", although I'm not sure how to correct it.

It should be "renowned ladies man" I believe.

Also noticed that the word "Discrete" in comic 574 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0574.html) should be "Discreet," unless the Giant is making a deliberate error for humor's sake.

147 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0147.html), Redcloak's first line, "phylacetry".

412 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0412.html), 4th panel, "seredipitious" should be "serendipitous".

#659 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0659.html): 3rd panel. It should be cojones (http://buscon.rae.es/draeI/SrvltGUIBusUsual?LEMA=coj%C3%B3n), not cajones (http://www.wordreference.com/es/en/translation.asp?spen=caj%C3%B3n).

Cajones is an euphemism for cojones, it's also the name of a piece of furniture (drawers), making it perhaps a reference to Fighter's Armoire of Invincibility from 8bit Theatre, and a double pun on drawers (underwear), the only thing O'Chul has that could be possibly enchanted.

edit: also, last panel in 331, Oracle tells blackwing to use "ginkgo bilboa" (the plant's name is g. biloba). Someone pointed out before that it could be a pun on the hobbit Bilbo's name, but I found it so unfunny that for me it's still a typo. :smalltongue:

This is an important thread to be brought to the attention of the Giant or someone who knows him in person. I would recommend changing the title to something like TYPOS TO BE FIXED BEFORE BOOK PUBLICATION

That would probably get someone's attention

Oots is filled with typos, but we need to have a sticky official thread to report them in. Even better, that thread should have its first post kept up to date with all typos recorded so far, so that we wouldn't be reporting continuously the same typos.

Comic 657, panel 13:

Xykon says "phlanges" when he probably means "phalanges."

Uhhhhh.....
So why don't we make things faster? I mean, we could open a new thread named something like: "Rich: Typing Errors" with a list of all the problems and typos, and that would be much faster and easier than just waiting for Rich to look here.

Oh, and Enh, change the title already, it doesn't make Rich enter the thread. And it's an important one, too.

Oh, found one.

giantitp.com/comics/oots0495.html (Comic 495), Sara's mate/friend asks her: "Sara, your shower, it is out of shampoo?"
I'm not sure if it's a typo, but it probably is.

I'm not sure if it's a typo, but it probably is.

And that's worse than "Excusing me, do you remember to where you were the flinging my codpiece?" XD I'm pretty sure that's intentional.

Done. It's not the first post, but the original poster can always edit it to quote this one.

377 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0377.html): "Oh, Sabine, is it nice to see a familiar face."
435 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0435.html): "Can I say 'yes' stongly enough?"
484 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0484.html): "He's no match for my two of my ninjas alone."
486 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0486.html): "But she's marrying his nemesis, Phillippe, tommorrow!"
495 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0495.html): "I know you don't understand, but there was a time when him and I were happy together."
530 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0530.html): "I can't take the euphamisms anymore!"
574 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0574.html): "Discrete" (though it probably should be "discreet")
617 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0617.html): "May the gods of forgive me..."
639 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0639.html): "Telekinisis."

That's not a typo, I think. The "his" refers to Juan, not the person marrying.

Yes, but the word is "tomorrow." :smalltongue:

Also, on the news page, "Memoriam" is spelled incorrectly.

Shouldn't we add the typos mentioned in the thread "Typo/grammar error in comic 484?"

They're:

484: "He's no match for my two of my ninjas alone."
495: "I know you don't understand, but there was a time when him and I were happy together."
97: it's not a typo error, but there are no goblin feet to the goblin in panel 7.
435: It was fixed in the book, but...not here.("can I say yes stongly enough?")
530: "euphemisms" is spelled "euphamisms"
597: I'm not sure, but shouldn't Belkar say "elf buddy", not "self buddy"? it just sounds better.

Hope it helped.

597: I'm not sure, but shouldn't Belkar say "elf buddy", not "self buddy"? it just sounds better.

With that one, I think it's supposed to be that way. V says that at least with Belkar around they got things done, and Belkar agrees and says "Way to go, self buddy!". He's praising himself there and highlighting the fact that low-level illusions can't really say an awful lot of things, so he can kind of only use the speech he's already been programmed to use.
