Star Wars: Battlefront II Mod Problems - Help me playgrounders, you're my only hope

So I wanted to get the Conversion Pack. The instructions said to first download patch 1.1. And so I did. Now the game won't recognize my CD. Help?

Update:

I found some advice that said the only was was to re-install the game, and so I did, and it's working, but I don't think the Conversion Pack is working as it should (there are only 20 stages, and they have weird names). Do I need to have the patch installed anyway? If so, how should I go on without making the game crash again?

Clarification: I did not reinstall the CP, the files were there after I reinstalled the game. Should I remove those files and install it again? And do I need the patch?
