Question: Campaign Cartography

Is there a simple mapmaking program out there that allows conversion of created maps to images such as .jpg files?

I need one for uploading images for a campaign. Also, my scanner doesn't work and my pencil skills are terrible.

You could always draw a map and then take a photo of it. Or create it in GIMP, which is a free competitor to photoshop: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP

I recommend AutoREALM. It's a very "CAD"-like map maker but it exports into JPG, BMP, and a lot of other web-friendly forms.
