okay i know what your gonna say they already have and 40k based rpg, well i have one thing to say... its extremely unbalanced and dnd has been proven to work

what im looking at doing is taking the full rules of dnd with new classes and weapons and armor

if anyone knows 40k i would like help

i'm looking at leaving out spacemarines and chaos and classes purily because they would be severly God-like in the game.

i don't know how to go about with making classes but i have stats for possible weapons

some example weapons:

__________ S____M_____Critical_____Range_____Damage type
Las-gun* ---- d6 X2 100 Piercing

Characters take a -1 penalty for attack roles for every 20ft beyond the range.
Also this weapon has rapid fire, can take an extra shot per turn for free, if so ad one to the ac of the target, also lose also bonus to damage.

____________S___M____Critical___Range____Damage type
Chain-sword --- 2d10 18-20/x2 ---- Slashing

I'd use D20 Modern and Future for this. It has laser weapons, plasma weapons, spacecraft etc. I don't remember anything like a bolter, but it can't be too difficult to make.

Lasweapons from the SRD:
Weapon1 Damage Critical Damage Type Range Increment Rate of Fire Magazine Size Weight Purchase DC Restriction
Laser pistol 2d8 20 Fire 40 feet S 50 box Medium 3 lb. 17 Lic (+1)
Laser rifle 3d8 20 Fire 80 feet S, A 50 box Large 8 lb. 19 Res (+2)
Laser sniper rifle 3d8 20 Fire 120 feet S 50 box Large 14 lb. 21 Res (+2)

Edit: That didn't come out too well, but I'm sure you could get the gist. If you want, I mgiht be able to link you to the SRD.

They aren't exactly the same, but they're very close. The same system with some minor differences in the details.

If you want advice on classes, I'd recommened Soldier, Gunslinger, maybe Investigator (for Inquisitors) and Telepath from the main book, and omst of the ones form Future. Dreadnought and Helix Warrior look custom made for Space Marines.

Apparently, there's a Warhammer 40k the Roleplaying Game in production.

To get an Idea for classes for your d20 40k conversion I would DL the rule set for Inquisitor, which is free by the way...

you will also need to use psionics....I was actually thinking of using the d20 SW ruleset for 40k

thats the thing though, see im trying to stay away from GW's RPG rules seeing as how it would make it very easy for my conversion to become a mirror of it. And we all know how much they pump up spacemarines and unbalance the game. but its otherwise a great idea. my conversion class will be around the fluff other then GW's current crop of RPG's

i have been having some diffuculty making the classes to were they seem to actually be balanced.

although i did make stats for the armor and weapons.

My friends came up with a 40k based d20 RPG - Warhammer 2d20k. ;D Yeah, we're corny. I'll see if I can find the files. We played it up to fifth level, I believe. I was playing one of those soulless thingamajigs with the big anti-psyker focusing helmets. (I'm not a 40k fan, myself.)
