What does ability actually give the beguiler that he doesn't get anyway? According to the test you can feint in combat to make your target flat footed against your next attack which is what a feint does anyway.

I believe the phrase is:
Diddly-boodle under normal circumstances.

I've been wrong before though.
I know that a lot of people I really respect use beguilers extensively, so it seems there must be something tasty about them.

The class is great. It's just that one ability that seems to be a misfire.

I guess it's there to specify that the enemy is flat-footed against your spells too (and thus your Cloaked Casting works), as the original wording of Feint mentions only melee attacks.

You can't feint with spells. Surprise Casting changes that.
