Dungeon Raid

[Quinsar]

The three strangers were lying on the ground, heads touching and feet out. They had no equipment. All were wearing brown rags that covered them decently. They were surrounded by horribly thick forest. The elf, the magic race connected supernaturally to nature, could sense nothing of the trees, the dead forest surrounding them was impassible, except for a small dirt path leading away through the forest.

[Mee]

"Holy Muffins, Batman!"
Says the elf, trying to get up.

[Bergett]

The human gets up with a fright.
What in the gods?!
Where the heck am I?!

[Recaiden]

Middle of the woods, answers the second man absently.
Then he sits bolt upright.
Ah! How did I get here? Who are you?

[Bergett]

Better question is who are you?!

[Recaiden]

No, you're answering me first. I know who I am.

Well, as no one has talked to him yet, Nibor doesn't answer.
He just walks around, looking at his surroundings, more worried about where he is then who he's with.

He asks, suspiciously.

Would I be asking if I did? I've got no idea. I went to sleep, and woke up here next to you two.
He stands up and looks around him.

[Quinsar]

Night is fast approaching!
The shadows of tree's starting getting much longer, and the air colder.

[Mee]

"IT'S GETTING DARK! I'M SCARED!"
He runs around screaming.
He's terrified of the dark.
Poor guy.

[Bergett]

It's just the dark.
Really not anythig to be afraid of.
Besides elf you're surrounded by trees, what more could you ask for?
He Wraps his rags a little tighter around him.

He starts chasing the elf around.

[Mee]

Seeing that everyone else in the party is male, and I figured that at least one of them was female, and to stick to my sig, and since this hasn't really gotten too far into the adventure, and and and and. :smalltongue:

So, she stops, and turns to the chaser.
"Please! I'm scared! I need a hug!"

Liek stops and hugs her. It'll be alright elf. Just sit down for a second, we'll figure out what to do.

She grins evilly. Not that Liek can tell, as he's hugging her. See, she's not really afraid of the dark. Just wanting a hug.

Korith rolls his eyes a bit and stands off at the edge of the clearing his arms folded.

[Recaiden]

Good to meet you Nibar. I think you probably heard that I'm Liek.
He smiles, but not evilly.

[Quinsar]

The night has come. It is dark, but the group can still see with relative ease.

[Mee]

She keeps grinning.
"So anyway, where are we going?"

He keeps smiling.
Not sure. Back at home I have...a grand total of nothing I can't replace easily. How about somewhere a bit warmer? He shivers a little.

Well, they just woke up about an hour ago, and are surrounded by trees.
It also appears that the only way out if here is that dirt parth.

[Mee]

"So, onwards to adventure? Glory? Hugs?"

Korith starts to move for the path.

[Recaiden]

Liek steps away.

Why not? Those things are always nice to have. Sure, but how about we try climbing a tree to see where we are?

[Mee]

She shrugs.
"I'm all for looking around, then going along the path."

[Quinsar]

It's getting a bit darker as it gets later.

[Mee]

"So, who wants to climb up the rickety, dangerous, swaying tree?
I'm all for it not being me."
She says, finally letting go of the hug.

[Recaiden]

Liek lets go as well.
I'll go. I love trees.
And might we want to start exploring really in the morning, when it's not dark?
Then again, we could find something.
He walks over to a likely looking tree and tries to climb it.

[Quinsar]

The trees have almost branches, and are covered in a thick, greasy liquid.
It would be really hard, but he could try.

[Recaiden]

He tries. Perhaps he covers his hand in a rag?

[Quinsar]

He'll be able to get up about fifteen feet, any higher and he'll start to slide towards the ground. All he'll be able to see is a lot more trees, and he'll be able to see down the path. It drags on in a straight line for about a mile, then drops off a short cliff, into a clearing, which is obscured by the darkness.

[Recaiden]

Huh. He comes back down. Okay, so there's a clearing up ahead, maybe a mile, mile and a half. I couldn't see any more than that.
He looks over at the other two questioningly.

[Bergett]

Korith shrugs.
Sounds reasonable, lets go for it.

[Recaiden]

Liek starts walking slowly. You coming Nibar?

[Mee]

"Obviously. I need hugs."
She follows.

[Recaiden]

Eh, there are much worse reasons to have people along.

[Bergett]

Korith starts down the path not saying anything.

[Mee]

"We need a leader.
I nominate me.
I'm obviously the prettiest one here."
She says, walking down the path as well.

[Bergett]

How about someone who will keep a logical mind, an isn't constantly set o getting a hug?
He says this kinda rudely.

[Quinsar]

The path goes on for about a mile. They'll be at the clearing in three posts.

Yeah, that's true. Liek smiles and keeps walking.
But that's not a leadership quality. Neither is insulting your followers. So clearly I'm the best choice.

He grins at her.

She yells at him, then, sighing, continues down the path.
((Oooo, she's in a bad mood now.))

They come to the ledge, it's about a twenty foot drop into the clearing. In the clearing is a masouleum, and a treasure chest.

[Recaiden]

Could we have a little more detail on how they appear to us, or is it too dark to tell?

The mausoleum is just a large, square building made of lumpy gray bricks. There is a large gate made of iron bars facing the party.
The chest is set in front of the gate.

[Bergett]

You don't see this every day.
Korith scratches his head.

[Recaiden]

You don't? He honestly sounds surprised. I see this all the time. Now, what are the odds that there's something dangerous in that box?
((How about we wait until Mee gets back tomorrow?))

[Mee]

"Probably very high.
I'll go check it out, as you two are probably too incompetent to open it."
She sighs, and tries to get over to the chest, then open it, if she makes it.

[Bergett]

Korith does not do anything yet.

As she approaches the chest a light flares! And a figure, probably female appears. It is letting off a very bright light, hiding its features. It is in front of the chest, and waves the others over.

Korith with one arm shielding his eyes slowly walks over.
What the...?

[Mee]

"Hi. I totally wasn't stealing what is in that chest. Totally not. It was threatening me, so I was coming over here to um . . . punish it.
Yeah."
She tries to look innocent.

[Recaiden]

Well, looks like I was right.
And would it kill you to be a little friendlier?
He walks up to it.

Welcome to Nerviwa forest.
Anyone who knows lore will know this place is a cursed forest, haunted by all manner of undeath/

THe forces of evil have brought you here in an attempt to stop your rise.
It has been thousands of years since you last woke. Everyone you knew, or loved, is gone.
Through this mausoleum lies the path to the normal world, and in this chest lies the equipment you need to vanquish the threats in the mausoleum.

At the mention of "All the loved ones you know are gone"

Now, glowing person, excuse me for being suspicious. He says, something and the chest should break into pieces.

[Mee]

"Hmm, everyone I loved dead.
Well, that's fine, nobody then. :smallsmile::smalltongue:

So, the chest does have stuff in it?"
She asks, her eyes brightening.

[Quinsar]

The being sighs.
All your possesions, your home, your clothes, your gold...
They're all gone.

[Bergett]

He kneels down with his face in his hands.

[Recaiden]

That gets his attention.

He steps toward the broken chest.
How did they do this? Why us?

[Mee]

Nibor shrugs, and moves towards the chest.
"But, then chest. Has. Stuff. In. It?"
She says, saying each word slowly.

[Quinsar]

It has what you need to pass through the dungeon, yes.
Look, you three must be stron, you are the world's hope . . .

[Recaiden]

Poor world then. He grins shakily, upset but trying not to show it. Liek continues to look in the broken chest. What does he see?

[Bergett]

The world's last hope? Against WHAT?!
He says in a rage.

[Recaiden]

Well, we're at a mausoleum, so I give you 1 guess.
Now, please tell me this box doesn't contain, say, "The Power of Teamwork" or something.

[Mee]

Nibor gladly tries to open the chest. Or look into it, or . . . whatever.
"Yeah yeah yeah, whatever."

[Quinsar]

The being is suddenly holding the chest.
Yes, it contains the power of love.
No you idiot, I'm not a fool!
In this box is weapons, weapons and dungeon crawling tools.
You'll need them to get out of the prison, and to free the other prisoners of good.
For the mighty warrior, a sword, and shield.
An older looking bronze longsword, and a wooden buckler appears at Korith's feet.
For the thief, a blade and a set of thief's tools.
A bronze shortsword and the tools neccesary to pikck locks and disarm traps appear at Nibor's feet.
And for the powerful warlock, a mace, and the components to cast spells!
At his feet appears a bronze morning star, and three days worth of spell components, in a bag.
The chest also contains two hundred gold, and three days food rations.
The gold is added to the part's till, so it can be split up at the end of the adventure, alond with any treasure. And each person has three days worth of food.
Hurry now.
You haven't long!
Amd the being disappears, taking the chest with her.

This is ridiculous...
Someone else be leader, I'm not emotionally stable right now.
More to the fact I also want to kill every last freakin monster in that dungeon right now.
He puts on the shield and sword.

[Recaiden]

Liek picks up the morningstar and swings it experimentally. Not bad.
He looks at the spell component pouch and sighs. How did it know what I was and at the same time not know that I don't need these?
He puts on the pouch anyway.

Anyways, I volunteer Nibor as leader. I think she's got the right attitude about this.
He tries to look encouraging, but isn't too good at it.

[Mee]

"Certainly. I'll lead.
First plan of action, kill everything inside.
Everyone okay with that?"
She asks, belting on the tools, and swinging the short-sword around a little bit.

[Quinsar]

It's a house rule, all spells need components! All spells. They come in days.

Guttural voices can be heard from the masoleum.

[Recaiden]

Well, I vote we interrogate before killing if they surrender. But yeah, sounds good. Liek steps towards the entrance, then waits for the others to go first.

[Mee]

"Of course.
I'll go first."
She tries to sneak in and look around.
Hopefully without getting caught.

[Bergett]

I will not negotiate or interrogate.
Just tell me and I will attack to kill.
He says without emotion.

[Quinsar]

Nibor is unlucky!
A goblin guard is directly behind the heavy door, staring at her face when she opens it.
It hisses then pounces at her with it's small hatchet.

[Mee]

Nibor stifles an, 'Eep', and tries to jump back, and out of the way.

[Recaiden]

Liek raises his arm, pulls out some components with his other hands and tries to blast the goblin.

[Bergett]

Korith will move to get in front of Nibar, to play wall.

[Quinsar]

Luckilly Nibor just manages to dodge, the blade almost slicing into her leg.
Since it hit nothing, the goblin face plants. It gets easily blasted, but isn't killed. When Korith moves in front of it, it's just getting up, and shouts.
Greldines!

[Bergett]

Korith grimaces a bit and while he's down he tries to give it a good stab to finish it off.
EDIT: That doesn't sound good...

[Recaiden]

Liek pulls out his mace and steps up to swing at the goblin.

[Mee]

Nibor, seeing that those two are finishing off the goblin, stands, and looks around, trying to see if anyone answers that call.

[Quinsar]

The goblin is killed.
The hallway goes straight for a bit, the turns sharply.
Footsteps can be heard around the corner.

[Bergett]

Korith moves to wait on their side of the corner.

[Recaiden]

Liek walks up beside him.

[Mee]

"Hold here, I'll be right back."
She goes off to scout the hallway, and find the foot-step-makers.

[Quinsar]

Around the corner the hall continues a bit then twist into a door way, beyond it is darkness.

[Bergett]

Korith waits for word from Nibor.

[Mee]

She comes back and tells them what she found.
"So, what do you guys think we should do?"

[Recaiden]

Liek shrugs. It's the only way in, right? Let's go. He steps up and turns the corner.

[Mee]

"Fighters and blasters first."
She says, making room for them to get in past her.

[Bergett]

But of course.
He says walking past her for the stairs.

[Recaiden]

Nuh - ladies first. Plus you're the one who can find any traps and thing.

[Quinsar]

Yet.

[Bergett]

[Recaiden]

She leads the way, checking down the hall.

[Quinsar]

No traps down the hallway.

She keeps going down the hallway, still looking.

Korith follows along silent.

A pity we couldn't keep that glowing figure with us. I can't see a thing.

Nibor asks, keeping looking.
