The green guys in #300?

In the splash page of 300 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0300.html), there are green undead with fangs. May sound like a stupid question, but what are they?

What, exactly is the difference between ghouls and ghasts, other than elves are immune to one and not the other?

Ghasts are advanced Ghouls with a Stench ability and better stats.

Ghasts are created when a character with more than 4 HD dies of ghoul fever. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/ghoul.htm#ghast) Basically, the idea is that a stronger victim creates a stronger creature. Same thing happens with vampires and vampire spawn.

I don't know, but they can combine themselves toghather into one giant green Miko zoid.

Also - what happened to the Undead Celestials between 300 and the invasion of Sapphire City, I dont recall them making any appearance on the battlefield.

They're in a couple of bonus strips in War and XPs.

Not too surprising we've not seen much of them, though--they didn't have many to start with (just the ones they cleaned out of Xykon's tower), and in a battle with thousands of hobgoblins and hundreds of assorted undead, missing what a few spare undead are doing isn't that amazing.
