Welcome to the 23nd ABR Discussion Thread!
Now go make comics!
Because we used to burn through new ABR threads so quickly, we created the Discussion thread. All banter goes here, and all comics and non-canon kills go in the main thread. (see line below)

Avatar Battle Royale: We All Live in A Yellow Citadel (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88925) is the current thread. Post artwork there.
Even though it seems to be holding together nicely;
The ABR backup thread (http://z15.invisionfree.com/Remember/index.php?showtopic=161), is used in the event of Giantitp becoming untenable due to server issues or otherwise.
The next link is quite good, although it could have used some more images.

It's free. It works. What else do you want?

Backstory Comics

Updated a bunch of info on the Sovice gods in the wiki, names especially are now a lot more accurate to the Jannic language (which is an actual constructed language) and include a number of alternative names that they are often referred to in shorthand (though "hanging lantern of dusk" isn't too short, I realise).

A good point for how bad 4chan is would be that, on UStream, in the chat, if you say the word "4chan", the chat autobans you.

But some good things come of it. I sometimes frequent /tg/, which both (occasionally) Gets Sh*t Done (homebrew 40K stuff mainly) and has resident artists, who sometimes produce works of wonder.

Meh, I'm not gonna argue that, at this stage I don't think there's anything I could say to convince you otherwise.

The C'tan are "gods" to the Necron race, although they are not true gods (i.e. Warp Creatures), but immortal beings in shells of living metal, which is fluid and malleable by the C'tan. The C'tan choose their own form.

The Sovice gods are not traditional gods (i.e. Incarnum beings), but effectively immortal consciousnesses in liquid metal bodies. They choose their own form.

Of the four known C'tan, three correspond to the Sovice Gods.

The Nightbringer. "Death incarnate", he takes the form of a hooded figure with a scythe, and is terrifying to behold. He is the most destructive of C'tan.
Contrast: Bringer of Death, aka the Nightbringer. He takes the form of a cloaked and hooded figure, carrying a weapon resembling a scythe. He is the Sovice god of destruction, and is feared.
The Deceiver. A trickster, he one of the most intelligent C'tan, and takes the form of a golden figure, with four horns flowing back from his head and a large mark on his forehead.
Contrast: Avian Deceiver, aka the Great Deceiver. He is the god of knowledge and trickery, and takes the form of a figure with four horns and a enlarged third eye on his forehead.
The Void Dragon. Not much is known for sure about him, so you weren't able to find anything to copy here.
Contrast: The Void Dragon. The leader of your pantheon, as far as I know his fluff is original.

There's a reason it's an 18+ site. Not that it stops many people, but according to the rules "if you are under the age of 18, or it is illegal for you to view the materials contained on this website, discontinue browsing immediately". It has work-safe sections, but it's still a 18+ site.

So, Crimson... do you want to be one of the people I hunt in the starting parts of FI? I see some interesting battle scenes ahead if you do

Also Fin, would you like to hear an idea I would have for FI... it would involve a bit of as-of-yet secret stuff (mostly some basic ideas) that would give our characters good way to know each other... I can send you a PM if you are interested (and no, this does not mean I am defecting from UNA payroll :smalltongue:)

Totaly, bring it on, but chris will never die! The rest might though.

Monsters and Metal would feature guitars that amplified magic waves to do awesome things in combat. Basically, you could literally play the song that ends the earth at epic level.

Well, I don't quite understand the joke now.
Also: just spent like 3 hours in bed. It took me like 2 hours just to be able to get my head off the bed. I read for a little while, and slept for a lot. I still feel sick, but the nauseousness is more or less gone.

How many discussion threads have we had? Compare that to the number of art threads we've had. Also, everyone online at the time were just talking about a new thread instead of trying to make one.

There's a reason it's an 18+ site. Not that it stops many people, but according to the rules "if you are under the age of 18, or it is illegal for you to view the materials contained on this website, discontinue browsing immediately". It has work-safe sections, but it's still a 18+ site.

As a matter of fact it's legal for me to go there, I just don't because just hearing about it scares me :smalleek:. It would be an act of insanity though (those silly laws)

Of course it's odd, because Q behaviour is actually that of a teenager/young adult, not that of an old man. Furthermore, octogenarians are rarely capable of handling computers (even sexagenarians have some problems), which leads me to believe that Q is not 84.

I guess so, but I've heard recently that those CNN guys are using Twitter, and it sounds like old guys using the internet is an inevitable trend. I couldhelp speed it along, though. It would be very amusing to see a commercial that says "Studies show that chating on the Giant In The Playground Forums at old will lower blood pressure...etc."

Ugh. I just tried to post a new fancomic series. Now I have to wait for it to get approved.

I'm dying of anticipation. There is a pit in my stomach, hoping it's approved. I added a little swear in the first page, and I can't help but wonder if that will cause it not to get approved! Or not approve it because I already have a comic in progess or something!

It doesn't help that, once you press the "Submit New Thread" button, there is a little message, they give you, but you get redirected too fast for you to read it. It's a little worrying.

There has to be a better system for approving new fancomics. One that doesn't require the writer to be "tortured" before it finally gets approved. :sigh:

Yeah, I know. But still, I keep checking back to see if they've approved it yet and it's just frustrating, I suppose. I can't wait to see what people think of this.

And unfortunetely not. There are still some technical issues to be solved before Smooth Moves (unless you're all willing to settle for the crappy art again. I'm trying to get my art at least decent before I start Smooth Moves).

This new series is another stand-alone series, like SSB-List. And with sprite art. And with a lot less plot and (hopefully) more humour. And more silly. Really, it's just something to work on when I don't feel like working on plot-based comics or have writers block.

Re: Michael Jackson. Never listened to his music, really only noticed him when something showed up in the news.

Garfield was good. Once upon a time. No longer.
Hardly any comic strips are any good anymore, except Marmaduke (somewhat, though I haven't read it in ages 'cause we get the wrong newspaper), Pearls Before Swine, Get Fuzzy, Dilbert, Foxtrot (though really it kinda sucks since it stopped doing dailies), Classic Peanuts (honestly, though, they need to get rid of it, Charles is dead), Cul de Sac (only barely, though), Non Sequitar, Doonesbury, Bizarro, Pickles, Elderberries, Adam's Apples, and Adam @ Home.
Okay, that seems long, but compare it with all the comic strips in the paper. In The Oregonian, that's a pretty small number.
