That's right, it's time to start up my old "Leliel's Battle Theme Ideas" .

This particular one is for a tragic hero who became a villain after falling to his fatal flaw, and now serves as the final boss of the campaign.

I give you...Dirge of The Fourteenth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eoLj9R5vKo)! Which is really appropriate since its the battle music of a downright pitable villain if there ever was one.

Potential Mass Effect Spoilers:
I'd Say Saren's Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhrbK254yRE) is a good fit, as is The Music Relating to him (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQwmYXoTbe4&feature=related).

Depends rather on thier fatal flaw, now don't it?
Someone whose pride got the better of them who forgot the rule of not to consume any energy field bigger than their head, might have a theme that sounds more boastful sounding. One who sacrificed all, including their morality and humanity, for love, and still failed, ala Mr. Freeze, would have a different theme altogether, bitter and tragic perhaps. One who defeated the monster and in so doing became them, would have a different theme yet again.

I'm sure you can find a few dozen metal songs about fallen angels.

But yeah, it would help to have a more specific hamartia.

Mozarts Requiem Mass in D minor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d88xIIRDI9U) would be perfect for the tragic hero who goes to fight an impossible foe, in my opinion.

i always find music from the game "Planescape: Torment" to be quite good. atmospheric, foreboding, but not too distracting from the game.

Its completely overused but requim for a dream i think is good music for rising action.(heh couldnt think of any for falling action/climax)

oh and i dont mean to play while doing a game, its far too loud of a song for that i just meant in general :)

I'd always though Dead Boy's Poem (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e-AeRiDEBw) by Nightwish would be a good choice.

The music from Valkyrie Profile (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVghBd7Ihco&feature=PlayList&p=F276543BACAF716A&index=5)'s pretty good. Mostly atmospheric though.

If it's specifically music for the final showdown, then this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qakWAS8ixtU) would be great. Personally i think it would suit for a fight between former friends.

I second music from Planescape:Torment.

Just listen to i.e. Deionarra's Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZOuy4YM0AI) (here in a loop, the song is about 1:28 long).

Edit: Maybe that one doesn't fit as battle music, but there are other, more fitting songs on the soundtrack.

The theme Leliel chose works pretty well, I think. As usual, I had a good SRW theme for this occassion... except that I can't find it anywhere on youtube. So have some Persona instead.

Half the music from Chrono Trigger would work great.

Half the music from Chrono Trigger would work great.
Seconded. That game has a great soundtrack for just this. Probably something to do with Lavos or Magus being some of the important tracks for you, L.

More seriously, it's hard to beat Chrono Trigger or Nightwish.

Duel of the Fates always works, even the Episode II non-choral version.

Theme from the 70s Incredible Hulk television series...seriously, how much more tragic can you get?
