That does look like it'd hurt. But I'm pretty sure the body gets regenerated first, then the soul is put back in.

Surely by the time a body part has the nerve endings to feel the pain, that section is whole and therefore doesn't feel any pain? Or something like that, I'd imagine the magical regrowth doesn't set of pain receptors either, so although you'd have no feeling in parts that haven't regrown yet, it'd be a bit freaky, but not actually painful.

At least, that's my opinion anyhow.

Last night during our weekly D&D session my character got brutalized by an Ogre. Went from 43 hp to 5, then -23 in two attacks. It was described as having him hacked into thirds.

Well they got me back to the nearest metropolis. Took my share of the loot purchased 3 diamonds for a resurrection and two restorations (we play by Pathfinder rules). While describing the reviving I'm looking over the spell and read, "any missing parts are still missing when revived." Everyone stops, looks at me and bursts out laughing. So we figured there was about 12 seconds of horrific screaming while the restorations put things back in place.
