I've got a friend who wants to try and do a Final Fantasy style campaign. What we're really trying to work out right now isn't a whole new system, but FF classes (Black Mage, Red Mage, etc) changed to fit the DnD rules. I was just wondering if this has already been done, and where, for simplicity's sake. Thanks.

It'd be fairly simple to refluff these.

Bard = Red Mage
Warmage = Black Mage (shooty blasties, a few debuffs)
Thief = Rogue
Black Belt = Swordsage (Use mostly diamond mind and tiger claw)
Fighter = Warblade

I've seen a Final Fantasy Tactics d20 somewhere, check google.

Isn't there a whole system for this in Homebrew?

I have several of them in PDF format, if I could figure out how to attach them, I would. Just search for: Final Fantasy d20, Final Fantasy 3.5 by Raidzou, A Final Fantasy Player's Instruction Manual, or Zeta Kai's Final Fantasy X d20. All are very good.

Random encounters every 100 feet.

Random encounters every 100 feet.

Random encounters every d20 squares At least when playing the earlier games, that's how it seemed to work out.
Not sure about anything from FF7 and up.

Thanks guys, I'll go google that. As to random encounters, I think he's thinking more along the lines of a FF7+ game... we'll figure something out. Dankeschein.

Yeah I think there are at least 3 different FF homebrews out there already.

If you just want to do any easy switch over though, most FF classes really can be mapped over to some D&D equivalent. i.e. FF5 knight could be a mix between crusader/paladin/PHB2 knight.

you just have to workout a build that fits it. It all really depends which FF setting are you using.

anything from FF6 and before I think you can pretty easily do with the current rule set. After that you start getting into the realm of d20 modern and d20 future.

Here's a link to Final Fantasy X d20 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4260468#post4260468), along with a shameless plug. It has just about anything you could possibly need. :smallbiggrin:

I am constantly amazed at how industrious Zeta Kai is. Seriously, while I don't care much for FFX, I am always impressed by how well he puts his work together.
