When at the Gate when the Fiends possess V Belkar sacrifices himself albeit most likely accidentily to stop V killing the both BUT only Belkar is killed by the Snarl and thus cannot be raised even if the Party wanted to which by now I think they are willing to do.

But V will still be raised.

#302?? Are you serious? We passed 302 back around strip 120 when the character who would be known as Miko was introduced.

Or :vaarsuvius: just "misses (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0041.html)" with a few more area spells in :belkar:'s vicinity.

[spoiler]Ah, V was mostly picking on Belkar to prevent him from trying to kiss him/her again, and later lamented the waste of time (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0504.html) so I doubt Belkar's death would be directly or indirectly V's fault.

The snarl actually seems like a much more logical cause of death. We know for a fact it causes irreversible ending of life, and would explain why the oracle never said "die" or "death" in regards to Belkar. An unintentional heroic sacrifice would be an interesting cap to his fake character development, thought I still hold out hope that Belkar will find himself actually not minding being a better person while he pretends to be a better person. Cognitive dissonance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance), you know?

I've seen this theory before, pretty much right when Belkar was predicted to die.
