From the SMBG there came the gladiatorial fight. After the fight there came the Town...

_____________

Originally this was produced by Wukei in a hand drawn comic about three years ago, I picked it up shortly after this (suggested by her) and did an oots style version of it. I've carried on with this (on and off at times) to this day, and hope to, touch wood, continue to produce it for some time to come. Now onto the content, yes it's Town but old Town, like three years old, when it was still part of the SMBG forum. This is Town as it began and grew, much different to the Town that now exists. It's like comparing Star Trek to Voyager.

Most of the characters in the comic existed then (a few aren't or they've brought back from near present day when I was short of characters) and are used with their owners permission (I think so anyway, just shout at me in a PM if I haven't asked). I try to stay true to the events (and the posts) as they happened, but I tend to stray off course and do my own thing lately when I deem it's necessary. The artstyle sucks early on and the 'plot' is confusing as hell through most of it, but trust me, it gets better towards the end of the first hundred.

And yes it's in a different web site (yuck), but cramming over a hundred comics into one thread is slightly cumbersome. It may get it's own personal site if enough people follow it and I can find a decent provider for it. Well, time will tell if that's it's fate.

I hope you enjoy it, it's fun making it when I can fit it around work.

End meaningless dialogue, onto comic:

First comic here (http://www.orderofthetown.com/comics/114857/the-emperor-the-werewolf-and-the-halfdragon/).

Latest comic here. (http://www.orderofthetown.com/)

Updated at the weekends at the moment, it may get changed to bi-weekly updates if I get time in my free time to do it.

Comments, suggestions or criticisms welcome.

Yay, posts ^.^.

Anyway, I've gone way off the scripts that I meant to stay on. I wanted to set things up rather than have them spontaneously and randomly appear, but I think I've gone rather to deep, much longer and to far off the beaten track than I initially intended. So I'm going to go back to the already written scripts for a while, probably to the milk bar for the most part, before going back to that storyline that just refuses to die because I keep on thinking of new things to add to it. And hopefully in the future I will learn to write scripts better, because at the moment I suck at it.

If you shift the facial features further towards the direction they're looking, it will look more like they're looking over there rather than straight at the reader. It's a habit that seems to stem from people learning Burlewan style from making avatars I think.

Hawkeye

Yeah, I was making avatars for a while before I started this. I'll try to fix that in the future.

And comic update. (http://oott.smackjeeves.com/comics/)

Yeah, that was fun to draw and I was very pleased with how it turned out

Now...surprising new comic out already, although rather short and dis-functional. To go with the slight move to a new domain name :smallcool: The site still needs a few bits of tweaking, but it should be up and running now.

*facepalm* I knew there was something wrong with that panel. Oh well, I'll get round to changing it sometime soon.

I thought about putting the comic up on this forum sooner, but I wanted to get back in the rhythm of making them regularly before doing that. And thanks for voting  the comic needs more of that. And speaking of that...

*NEW* Incentives on offer for votes on the top webcomic site, coming directly from the comic. Vote today to receive your yummy image*. One or two on offer every week, depending on how many I can do per week.

*Figurative meaning only, images may or may not be yummy depending on the substance they're printed on.

Hey, those sneak peaks are what make me vote for Goblins(when I occasionaly check for updates)!

I recommend doing sneak peaks of stuff which isn't too far away, and no outside panel talk. This gives:
1. Less to do in coming up comics, thus making Sneak Peak panels/shots not actually drain away your time from making the comic!
2. The reader will be more interested and it's coming up soon so he's gonna stick around!
3. Won't forget it because it's all far, far away in the future.

:smallwink:

Hawkeye
2009-08-20, 01:56 PM
Ah, but that requires me to complete the comics ahead of time :smallwink:

At the moment, most of my comic making time is done at the end of the week, although I suppose I could shuffle that around slightly

I said said most, I know you're still around you silly old cat :smallamused:

Onto other news now. Due to unfortunate circumstances, mostly the estate agents screwing me over royally, I have to find a new place to live by mid next month. So much worrying and stressing on my part. And packing. As a result I haven't worked on the comic yet, I'd hopefully start tomorrow and have it completed by monday, but no promises. Sorry guys.

Interesting fact: you don't know how much crap you've got until you try to pack it.

*resurrects thread*

I think it's time for an explanation about my two month disappearance. I've had a really crappy last two months, combining of (in no particular order) family death, housing problems, over-working, job worries, health issues and computer problems. Needless to say, all of these (well, except for the computer problems to be fair) have taken priority over the comic so it's been put on the back burner. It's a hobby I enjoy doing, but it's just a hobby and personal problems have to be dealt with over it all the time, and the last two months have spewed up a lot of those.

Now that those are all sorted (more or less) I can start thinking about the comic again and hopefully I'll start getting back into the swing of things but due to my absence and problems I'm pretty much stumped for where I want to take things from here. Going into metaphor (or simile? I'm not too clever on those sort of meanings) I know what direction to go, but don't know the road. Well, I've got idea's about the next few comics at least, I've got to put that into script so I'll put those into motion now. I hope to have the next one up soon, but no promises.

All in all, watch this space.

Hawkeye.

Well I've gone way beyond the expected date to get the next one up, but it's taking a while to do. I've decided to stop kicking the long dead horse and wrap up this mini-plotarc in this comic, which is one or two extra rows on top of the normal sized comic. After this there will be another up at the weekend, with a further one hopefully up by the following weekend. Past that date I'm on holiday, so expect a short interval while I enjoy a break from everything here.

I've put up what I've done completely so far in the comic up in the incentives, so if you want to take a look go there ;)
