Hi everyone~

Im new to the forums and addicted to this comic. Hopefully I have this thread in the right place, but I was wondering if the OOTS Creators visit cons? I was wondering since Otakon is around the corner and I would love to meet them in artist alley!

Thanks!

He used to. Now he won't, I think. Health problem I think? His last convention was even cancelled.

Made me wonder... Is 'this' Rich is really Rich Burlew, or he's been replaced by his cyborg counterpart from the future?

As heartless as it sounds, if the comics keep coming very few people will care.

If he was replaced with his cyborg counterpart from the future, it would still be Rich. Cyborg means mechanically enhanced human. People with prosthetic limbs or hearing aids are cyborgs.

Also, I'd be a bit more concerned about the prospect of time travel than who's updating the comic.

The time travel hypothesis gains credence when you think about the fact that Rich has been known to state that he knows exactly how the strip is going to end.

Cyborg-self from the future is the most likely interpretation, imo.

Shockingly, most professional writers don't just spew words onto a page without having an outline of the story done first.

It's a good thing there was no humor in my post, else I might be puzzled by this response.

It's a doubly good thing that there's no sarcasm in this one.

So does this mean that Rich is Xykon (http://www.giantitp.com/Images/fanart/ootslate1.gif) or Lord Shojo (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0266.html)?

Or BOTH! And Miko was right all along about everything! http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tinfoilsmall.gif

Thanks for the major lol's in this thread. I totally think that if Rich was not human, it wouldnt be cyborg, but a highly intelligent robot like Gir from Invader Zim.

I can see it, can you?

BTW: *sadface that he doesnt have the health to go* Health comes first, but it would be nice to see him in person and have a book autographed. <3

If he had been replaced by a robot from the future, the appearance of the comic would have changed subtly at some point, as the robot would be using comics in it's database that had been refurbished and digitally remastered over time (and would follow the schedule of posts recorded in its archive to avoid suspicion). Fortunately for us, we know that this isn't the case because no event like that has ever happened in the comic. Really. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0198.html)

Right, it's not as if old pages look outdated & the characters drawn look deformed compared to the present where they are drawn with technological accuracy....hey, hold the phone! :smalleek:

We don't know that. That was a problem with a convention a while ago. For all we know now, it could be a money issue. Going to a convention is expensive and time consuming. He might just not have time or the finances to do them anymore.
