Boots of Blazing Speed

These boots, when activated by a command word, cause a speed increase of 30ft and you leave a trail of fire behind you 3 times per day. This trail is treated as a wall of fire. Each use lasts 7 minutes for the speed. You can only make one wall of fire during the first move action you make while under the effect which lasts for 7 rounds, after which you retain only the speed bonus. You must be in contact with the ground for a wall of fire to apear.

Weak Transmutation and Moderate Evocation; CL 7; Craft Wonderous Item, Expeditious Retreat, Wall of Fire; 38700 gp; weight 1lb

EDIT: Fixed a cost problem

I assume the Wall of Fire effect is optional? Not everyone wants to try setting off a firestorm in whatever city or forest they happen to be in.

nope, part of the item ;D

You could make Boots of Expeditious Retreat for a mere 4000 gp AND have it be a continuous though

What happens if you jump and trigger the command word in midair?

As soon as you move across the ground the wall would spring up. If you were to jump while running, the wall would break for the distance jumped.

Is it me, or are these rocket skates? ;)

How do you envision these boots being used?

Are you going to have this Wall of Fire set fire to nearby flamables such as houses and trees? If so this item is not usable unless you want the PCs creating mayhem whenever this is used...

If said mayhem were to have consequences for the PC the Wall of Fire becomes more of a liability than an asset. (If I were responsible for a city being torched my DM would send something really nasty after my party...)

Well it was realy designed to encircle your enemies or make an unfolowable exit. Same reason you would normaly cast wall of fire.
