Any picture what it would be like? Giant goblin trying to hide behind a hill and rolls a natural 20, what would be the ruling? I'd say he's pratically invisible ESPECIALLY to the ranger with maxed out spot and favored enemy goblinoid.

There are no natural 20s on skill checks.

Well... they don't auto-succeed, that is.

Natural 20's and 1's do not affect skill checks.

Is the DM using variant rules?

And why would they be giant? They progress by character class, not by racial HD.

What about a Goblin Fighter level 20 with the Paragon template? That's fairly epic. I imagine he would look like a normal goblin, but his markings will have dulled with age and years of combat, while his eyes have deepened with wisdom.

Also he would be decked out in magic items.

Lvl 20 fighter is as epic as a lvl 20 commoner...

Yeah, 'cause neither is epic. Remember, a character isn't epic until lvl. 21 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0532.html).

I think I've seen an epic goblin. He's missing an eye right now, and he's lived way past his natural life expectancy, and he's missing his main holy symbol, but he's still pretty powerful.

I see what you did there!

RC isn't epic.

Well there was a pretty badass goblin in the last session called Snig the Axe. He wielded a demon in axe form, and he was in a nightmare world created by a demon in sword form.

Good times.

I made one. Stealth character, had a +60 or so to hide. Noone saw him.

Noone was particularly sure about what he looked like.

Sounds like my Whisper Gnome Factotum build ... but he hates goblins.

The only one I can think of is Maglubiyet. But he's a god, so meh.

We'll have to wait and see if Tarol's Goblins (http://goblins.keenspot.com/) get to epic levels. Though, in terms of raw, undiluted awesomeness, THAC0 is already at that level.

Though, IMHO, I really want Big Ears to reach epic. If only to prove that goblin Paladins can kick ass.

It was mere speculation... I was wondering if there was someone who had seen a HDadvanced goblin rather than class lvled

I think this is the thing. There are no epic goblins because nobody will ever see them.

I don't think it's possible. Unless you homebrew it.

It doesn't need homebrew, just houserule. Many creatures already advance by HD, allowing something that doesn't isn't a far enough stretch for creating something completely new.

Just gotta look at some other vaguely humanoid creatures which advance by HD and extrapolate from there the size increases.

Or possibly just look at small and medium creatures and what HD ranges they hulk up at.

Very few classes (mainly NPCs) are worse than monstrous humanoid HD.

If you just want because you can then go for it (if you are a dm.) If you are a pc you might as well go monk. Or CW samarai, etc.

It seems a bit jarring to me to take a humanoid and advance it by hit die until it's larger. I mean, don't we already have a type to represent these "giant" humanoids?
