This prestige class is made for an E10 campaign (like E6, just with 10 levels), that only uses slightly modified core base classes and a small number of 3-level prestige classes. All the prestige classes grant only new abilities, but don't advance the abilities of the base classes.

The class uses the wild shape rules for druids from pathfinder. The Alternate Form does not stack in any way with the Wild Shape ability, but the druid can still use it to change into other forms, he does not know as Alternate Forms.
The class is primarily intended for barbarians and Rangers. As the Alternate Form can be used at will, a character can take even just a single level, and having all the fun. If he takes more levels, he gains more forms, but loses more from his other classes.
Skill Prerequisites are pretty steep, but I think they should really be no problem for charactrs of these classes, who probably have these skills anyway.

Prerequisites
Skills: Handle Animal 4 Ranks, Knowledge (nature) 4 Ranks, Knowledge (spirits) 4 Ranks, Survival 8 Ranks.
Feats: Great Fortitude.
Special I have not decided yet.

Shapeshifter
Hit Dice: d10
Skill Points: 6 + Int-Modifier. (All classes get 2 more skill points per level.)
Class Skills: Pretty much like barbarian and ranger.

{table=head]Level | Base Attack Bonus | Fort Save | Ref Save | Will Save | Special
1st | +1 | +2 | +2 | +0 | Alternate Form (1st), Wild Empathy
2nd | +2 | +3 | +3 | +0 | Alternate Form (2nd and 3rd), Speak with animals
3rd | +3 | +3 | +3 | +1 | Alternate Form (4th, 5th, and 6th), Magic Fang[/table]
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A shapechanger gains no additional weapon or armor proficiencies.
Alternate Form (Su): A shapechanger has a number of alternate forms, into which he can change and change back as a standard action at will. At 1st level, the shapechanger knows one form from the Alternate Forms I list. At 2nd level, he gains a second form from the Alternate Forms I list, and one from the Alternate Forms II list. At 3rd level, he gains one new form from the Lists I, II, and III each. (For a final total of 6 forms.) When in an alternate form, individual traits like scars and birthmarks are retained as much as possible. Coloration of fur or feathers matches the characters skin and hair color as close as it is possible for the natural coloration of the animal. Very tall characters will also be noticeably big animals, while very old characters also have the appearance of a very old animal.
In an alternate form, the character can not speak and cast spells (Natural Spell is disallowed), but use all feats for which he still meets all the prerequisites. All items that provide a constant bonus just by being worn continue to be effective, except for armor and shields. Items that have to be activated to function, can't be activated while in an Alternate Form (but changing shape does not end effects that have been activated before.

Alternate Forms I
Small Animal: The shapeshifters size becomes Small (no adjustment to ability scores). His Dexterity score improves by +2 and his Natural Armor Bonus by +1. He also gains a climb, fly, or swim speed of up to 30 ft., darkvision 60 ft., low-light vision and scent, if the animal he has chosen has such abilities.
Medium Animal: The shapeshifters size becomes Medium (no adjustment to ability scores). His Strength score improves by +2 and his Natural Armor Bonus by +2. He also gains a climb, fly, or swim speed of up to 30 ft., darkvision 60 ft., low-light vision and scent, if the animal he has chosen has such abilities.

Alternate Forms II
Tiny Animal: The shapeshifters size becomes Tiny (no adjustment to ability scores). His Dexterity score improves by +4, his Strength score is reduced by -2, and his Natural Armor Bonus improves by +1. He also gains a climb, fly, or swim speed of up to 60 ft., darkvision 60 ft., low-light vision, scent, improved grab, pounce, and trip if the animal he has chosen has such abilities.
Large Animal: The shapeshifters size becomes Large (no adjustment to ability scores). His Strength score imroves by +4 and his Dexterity score is reduced by -2, and his Natural Armor Bonus improves by +4. He also gains a climb, fly, or swim speed of up to 60 ft., darkvision 60 ft., low-light vision, scent, improved grab, pounce, and trip if the animal he has chosen has such abilities.

Alternate Forms III
Small Magical Beast: The shapeshifters size becomes Small (no adjustment to ability scores). His Dexterity score improves by +4 and his Natural Armor Bonus by +2. He also gains a climb, fly, or swim speed of up to 90 ft., a burrow speed of up to 30 ft., darkvision 60 ft., low-light vision, scent, blindsense 30 ft., improved grab, pounce, trip, constrict, rake, trample, poison, and web if the animal he has chosen has such abilities.
Medium Magical Beast: The shapeshifters size becomes Medium (no adjustment to ability scores). His Strength score improves by +4 and his Natural Armor Bonus by +4.

Wild Empathy (Ex): The character gains Wild Empathy as the druids class ability. Levels in druid, ranger, and shapeshifter all stack for using this ability.
Speak with animals (Su): At 2nd level, a shapeshifter can speak with other animals of the same kind as his current form, as by the speak with animals spell.
Magic Fang (Su): At 3rd level, a shapeshifters natural attacks and unarmed attacks are always under the effect of the magic fang spell.
Thoughts? This is probably much too weak for a 20 level or epic campaign, but as said, it's intended for an E10-like game.
I'm not too hapy about the prerequisites. Maybe someone has some ideas there.
