You start in Cliffport central park. You have heard that Dorukan, Lirian, Soon, Girard and Serini are off at other other planes trying to stop a pit fiend overlord from accessing the gates, they have charged you to touch all of the gate symbols, seeling them from being opened. This is your goal, as well as stopping the evil Linear guild from accessing the gates and getting revenge from you past victory.
I'm waiting for: -Monk(Jack of all trades)(Altaria)
-Druid (Divine spellcaster)(FalconKnight)
-Wizard/Rogue/Mindbender/Unseen seer(Arcane spellcaster)(Olentu)
-Fighter(Melee specialist)(E.L Salvador)
-Cleric (Divine spellcaster 2)(Ra_Va)
-Rogue(Stealth specialist)(Lyndworm)

"So then, team, what's the plan?" Serph asks to the Order as a whole

Crator (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=137601)

"Hm..." Crator rubs his chin and looks very pensive. A mighty warrior about to give a mighty answer. "I don't know."

Okay, so is anyone gonna claim leader, cause Crator would be a pretty lousy, though no less funny. I'm fine with whoever.

Does anyone even know where the first gate is? Rastol asks, his cheetah, Speedy, lying at his feet.

Crator

"Ha, I've got a map! Paid top buck for it too. Check it out." Crator pulls out a big tube, and it's unopened. He breaks the seal, and a piece of paper falls out. It's an old piece of paper, and it's got a few marks you can see. "The goblin who sold this to me said none like it in the world."

Oh yeah, I also changed my mind slightly as to Dorukan's gate. Though the Linear Guild had already stolen the amber necessary to tap into Snarl's power,
but they failed to kill you and you activated the sigil.

Crator

"Okay, it's fine." He sniffles a bit, and looks up. "Okay, lets go to- which gate's the closest?"

waterpenguin43
2009-07-06, 11:24 PM
Kraagor's gate and Lirian's gate are about equally close (Lirian's is at the start of the eastern continent in the elven forests, Kraagor's is far up north on the frozen mountains).

When you are ready, if you go by forced march, then here is what you see: After leaving Cliffport, it is sunny and daylight, but as you dwell further, it becomes a tricky and very thick forest with huge banks of fog roiling about, you hear the sounnd of croaking frogs around you.

Speaking up for the first time Fred says I agree.

OOC: Rather busy yesterday but here I am.

Edit: Ok so we are in the forest. In the event of an encounter please keep in mind that I pinpoint to within a 5 foot square and know the Int score and creature type of any creature with an Int score 1 or greater that is within 100 ft of me and so I should be able to tell if something is approaching or trying to sneak up on us by comparing mindsight and normal vision. Also for now I will be activating the blurring property of my armor every 10 min. to keep up constant concealment from the blur effect.

Falconknight06

To tell you the truth my friend, I don't know Rastol says entirely straight faced, it did not seem like I would forget, so I didn't think about it. Without a connection, I forgot. I'm sorry if that is not the answer you wanted.

waterpenguin43
2009-07-08, 06:59 PM
Anyway, nearby in the mist you see a deck in a harbor near you, and suddenly you see a large boat come into the harbor, you see an bralini eladrin materialize before you and say: Welcome to our port, one of you shall be chosen for the journey to be rewarded for your holy deeds, which of you shall join us? Asks the eladrin.

Using his telepathy so that the eladrin can not hear him make this statement Fred says to the group This change makes me rather suspicious. How did he know our names. Previously he asked which of us would join and now he is choosing. This all seems fishy but if you all want to go ahead then I would suggest that you be very careful.

OOC: Since I would like to see if the eledrin has any friends that might be a problem could I have an accounting of the number and location of all humanoids or other non-animal creatures within 100ft of me. My mindsight should be able to locate them regardless of them being invisible, hiding, mindblanked, or something of the like unless they have an Int score of 0.

waterpenguin43

I was saying it telepathically to the group so unless he was able to break through my nondetection and is reading my mind or something like that he should have not heard that. If he still heard that telepathic communication then I know he is doing something like reading my mind and that makes him loose my trust completely.

waterpenguin43

Whatever, as the ghosts move closer, you become terrified, they grow very close and you can almost feel your end coming, but then, you see a very bright light 20 ft away and hear: Begone vile spectres!Come from the source, they look terrified of the light and flee, you hear the one that pretended to be an eladrin say:You'll pay for this!! while they run away. A figure with silver hair and glowing white eyes and two floating balls of light approach you. Greetings he says.

Do not worry, I am an actual eladrin, and here are my lantern archon companions. You may even discern this telepatically if you wish, why not stay in my cottage in the trees for the night, it is comfortable and I have plentiful harvest? Says the eladrin. That spectre and his ghastly crew are from a faraway place called the island of storms, a mostly happy place except for the ruins they inhabit, they capture good folk and use them as slaves on their teleporting ghost ship. As you can see, they are departing with it already. He gestures towards the ship, now fading into the fog.

It is nearly dusk, I would hurry in before nightfall, dangerous things prowl the forest during the night He says darkly. waterpenguin43
2009-07-09, 07:05 PM
My celestial commander told me you were on a mission to seal the gates, so I decided to assist you in passing through the forest, for as you have seen, it is dangerous, now we must hurry inside, or the forest haunts may bring their rage on losing their dryad companions over here.

olentu
2009-07-09, 07:05 PM

While I do thank you for your compliment I would say it is perhaps giving me a bit much credit. If the specter had not gotten greedy I would not have become suspicious. Though the promise of revenge does bode ill. Then to the group frank says If we are going to sleep in the cottage instead of in the woods or in an extradimensional shelter we may want to be on our way.

Falconknight06
2009-07-09, 07:13 PM
OK Rastor says quietly.

waterpenguin43
2009-07-09, 07:14 PM
You follow him to about 90 ft away to 6 trees, they have bridges interconnecting them, you see him knock five times on the tree and you see a gnome on a ledge 70 ft up drop down a ladder, when you climb up, you come through a door mage from the tree, and inside you see several silky beds and a counter with delicious looking fruits, desserts and a grand roasted dire boar on a table, 2 other gnomes are already sitting down, looking very hungry, they all encourage you to try some of everything. I hope you like it. Says the eladrin, smiling.

olentu
2009-07-09, 07:22 PM

Hmm gnomes this could be dangerous. I don't really trust their tastes if food ever since that voyage with the gnome cook where we all got dysentery and half the crew died. But I have risked my life for food in the past so I see no reason to change now. Frank pauses for a second and then says Also what dryads.

waterpenguin43
2009-07-09, 07:28 PM
Dryads used to live here, but they died and we never learned why, but a dyad can create a forest haunt with the tree it is bound to as a curse with it's last breath, basically a ghost tree that uses the forest to harm it's foes, driven insane by the loss of it's dryad. But Don't bother with that, the dryad died hundreds of years back. He says.

"What a weird turn of events. I don't understand it, though that doesn't say much."

waterpenguin43
2009-07-10, 12:13 AM
Essentially, you sleep then wake up, he then brings you through the rest of the forest, and when you reach a hot clearing with a bridge, he bids you farewell and leaves. You see one very string looking human on the bridge, with two very annoyed looking wizards at the beggining. You see a mountain beyond the bridge. The water flows very fast and has several pointy looking rocks in the water.

Jesse Drake

Crator flies down by the river, checking the rocks to see if there's anything interesting. If there's anything particularly shiny, he'll snatch it.

waterpenguin43
2009-07-10, 12:38 AM
You see nothing out of the ordinary, the man on the bridge shouts to you however:Hey you, you don't need this bridge, but you look like a good guy, O.K here: I have a challenge for you, if you win: I give you a valuable onyx some guy gave to me worth 2'000gp and a powerful belt that makes you stronger, I also let your friends pass. Lose, you don't win anything from me, and I don't let your friends on the bridge. O.K? Because it is supposed to be closed right now, but you look like a good guy. I call it, the challenge of strength. There is three parts to the the challenge: -One we have to be able to hold up as many stone blocks as possible, another we go out fist and cuff until one of us falls unconcious, and the other is a wrestling match. Got it? If you want to take the test, choose which one you want first. First one to win two wins, O.K?
Says the man on the bridge. I got this from Monster Manual V.
P.S: I would never take this challenge in real life, but you are playing in a D and D world, so your a lot stronger then me (I also am an intellectual rather then a physical person). Goodnight.
P.P.S: Feel free to post your first challenge while I am in bed.

(The rock holding one.)

waterpenguin43
2009-07-10, 08:55 PM
Anyway, you move to a fenced zone with 7 stone blocks on both sides, the man explains: These rocks have magic on them so they lift themselves innto your hands then drop, each time one rises up, if you could hold it, it joins the pile you are holding. The first one to put them down looses. As you go in, the first stone drops into you and the mans hands, make a strength check. His strength check: [roll0]

Crator

(ooc=Armor? Who wears armor, Crator is 99% Self Sufficient, so he's got scales on, which he's not shaking off right now, it would take a long moment.)

Crator smiles. "Okay, Let's Get it On!" he shouts in an announcer voice. He lunges forward and attempts to counter the grab. [roll0]

waterpenguin43

Crator seems to have the advantage over the man as they struggle holding each other.

Crator

Now Crator decides he wants to lift his foe upwards, flying high. Opposing roll [roll0], then throw him down from a high point [roll1]. "Can you hear what The Crator is Cooking?" He exclaims full of an idiots power (ie I know it's a misquote)

Okay, so I matched him, and we've got equal modifiers, so what now?

Jesse Drake
2009-07-11, 01:33 PM
Crator tries to break loose. [roll0] And fly upwards. Then, his next plan is to slam into him with a MIGHTY downward bullrush. [roll1]

waterpenguin43
2009-07-11, 01:53 PM
You fail to break loose, he then tries to pin you down:[roll0]
Warning!!: If he succeeds then maintains it next round, you lose.
Edit: Screw the warning (Natural 1)
So I guess if you try to break out now you have a 97.5% chance of success. What do you do, Crator?

Jesse Drake
2009-07-11, 04:10 PM
[roll0] For a daring breakout attempt!

waterpenguin43
2009-07-11, 04:26 PM
Obvious success, now he tries to grab you again (this DOES seem to go in circles, no?) [roll0]
Now try and retaliate.

Jesse Drake
2009-07-11, 04:33 PM
(Wrestling is a game of going in circles... It adds flavor and takes up time, sure in real life it'd be alot less time, but it's still fun.)

[roll0] Strength check, to try and do the fly into the air idea, followed by a flying bullrush downward again (Not a typical move, but I assume such a move would effectively knock him down and allow me to get a better grip on him for a pin)

Now Crator is starting to like this. He smiles as he does so. (If he does get to flight...) Crator looks around and flexes his elbows. He looks at his 'crowd' and yells out "Should I do it?"

waterpenguin43
2009-07-11, 04:35 PM
The majority of the crowd responds with: Sigh!!

His dodge attempt:[roll0]
P.S: HAH! He dodges pathetically.
You smash him down, succeed a grapple now and you have an automatic pin, just succeed two grapples and you win.

Fred

Fred whispers back well if you insist I think I have a plan assuming that I can activate this thing. Fred then communicates the following with the group telepathically so this wizard seems sure that this guy will not let us cross so I am going to take the wand of the custom spell he is trying to give to me. The best plan I can think of at the moment is that if the guy blocks us from crossing then we all look like we are leaving and I will try to sneak over and get off a surprise attack then you guys can charge in. The spell does seem a bit high to be made into a wand so I assume that there are some limitations on the custom spell that would not be on the regular one and I will only have about a 75% chance of it activating so if the wand works we will need to finish up quickly.

Fred then takes the wand and assuming that it is not a focus for a trap the soul or something like that whispers are you going to want this back when this is all over.

Ah but this is the mysterious golden chalice that might even be from a palace. Legend tells that it was given to the hero Fred by the blue wizard who even though he needed to protect his family badly risked their death to thwart the specter mage of the island of storms and its dark master. It is said that among other things it has the ability to preform the powerful atone for something you did not do ritual and is able to banish all manner of spooks, spirits, and undead so long as they are shadows coming across a bridge.

This sounds like just what we need if the legends are true.

I would think those shadows would probably make things even worse then they are now though if you wish to fight off said shadows I can walk slowly while getting on with atoning for something I did not do. Though you should probably use some way of getting an enhancement bonus on your attacks if you have not already.

The spectre image vanishes as you attack it. The spectre also screams when he sees the chalice.

Fred

Is the screaming really necessary it is not like the chalice is full of poison that will kill you.

Fred still takes the chalice and if all goes well will make his way towards the bridge. Fred will tumble if there is anything that threatens.

The spectre seems to shoot a cone of pure blackness out from its wing-thingies, and you feel fear washing over you. Make a will save

The bridge guy comes back to normal, fuming with anger but not attacking, and another mage is destoryed, just then, an enourmous rumbling comes from the mountain nearby and with a flash of bright light, the shadows seem to melt away, back to the mountain's center.

Sorry for him, but it was, you feel fear wash over you, and though Fred seems to shrug most of it off (he is shaken), Crator runs or/and flies in terror (he is frightened). Oh yeah, it affected Serph too, but if you succeed you're save, another spectre image vanishes when you strike it.

Serph (I think it's my turn, we need an initiative order)

Now thouroughly annoyed his allies had fled Serph:
[If the Spectre that did the fear thing is within 5 feet]
Takes a quick step towards the thing that had instilled fear in his allies, then unleashes a flurry into him. First doing a knife hand down the middle of it's form, then hooking his leg into it's side, following up with a kick to the head, then finally pulling back and hitting it with his palm at full force.

Yeah we need a map as well as initiative order.
Also can the DM answer my question about being familiar with the Linear Guild for purpouses of Scrying?

Fred

You just can't trust people not to melt away into a mountain these days.

Fred will then say to the guardian do you mind if I put this chalice on this bridge.

Then if there are no objections Fred will continue the task of putting the chalice on the bridge.

With the object of his fear gone, Rastol returns to the group as a person, blushing fairly profusely. I can't believe I failed a will save. I'm a wisdom caster for neutral good's sake

Serph looks up
"Oooh, Kaaaay." He says in a cynical voice, while wathcing the goings-on closely, ready to spring to action if an enemy appears.
"Gemini, get over here, I want to discuss something I thought of during the battle."

Unless someone happens to have a 100gp font of holy water the druid is going to have to be the one for this. Though you bring up a good point. Do you actually personally know any living allies up north. We could try a scry on them and teleport our way up there if it works.

Altaria87
2009-07-30, 02:48 PM
"Ah yes, I forgot about the Material Components... And as far as living allies go I'm pretty sure my mentors back at the Temple of Tyr should all still be alive, as should all the Clerics."

Falconknight06

True, with a good nights sleep, I could attempt to scry on our rivals Rastol says to the group.

Altaria87

"Incidentally, shouldn't we be crossing the bridge, it would be good to make some progress before we have to get that sleep."

OOC:
-Incidentally next Friday I am going on holiday, so depending on circumstances I will have sporadic to no internet access, I'll put it in my sig just before I go, but in that time I may have to be DMPC'd, just warning you, also you can be assured it won't happen again, I'm getting my own laptop for my birthday at the end of the month, so I should have at least sporadic internet access forevermore.

Well I am still waiting on the go ahead for putting that chalice on the bridge but after that I would think we would be fine. Well assuming the guardian is not chaotic and angry.

That your allies should be alive is quite good but the fact that they are clerics is somewhat less good as they will be more likely to save. If we could send them a message that could convince one of them to fail a will save at a predetermined time we would have what we need for the scrying but getting someone to voluntarily fail a save requires a lot of trust.

I still think it might be reasonable to give scrying on your allies a shot as teleporting there might save us some time depending on how far away they are. If it is not so far it might be better to just walk.

Oh and by the way the next time we fight the guild try to steal some of their body parts.

OoC: Well I would be ready to continue but in any case.

Fred slowly walks towards the bridge with rather exaggerated movements. While doing this Fred says to the guardian "Well... then I... think... that I... will just... put this... chalice... on the... bridge... unless... you happen... to have... any... objections... since... I... would... like to... atone... for that... thing I... did not do."
