I thought I'd just stop in and actually post a little happy birthday on the Happy Birthday Bor thread on his actual birthday instead of being a few days late like I normally am on birthday threads and.... WHAT!? There's no thread yet? How can this be? I never start birthday threads (Ok, so I almost never start ANY thread).

Now I need to actually figure out something vaguely sentimental or something. I suppose that's probably why there isn't a thread yet. Who want's to try to start this off appropriately?

Thank you, my friends. Parts of this blog post (http://sometimeswrite.blogspot.com/2009/07/42again.html) contain how I feel about many of you. I didn't get to name everyone, and didn't because you folks are not made of money...

Still, I was on the phone with a friend yesterday...He's a truck driver, and wanted to know if I'd be willing to have a drink or two if, when he came home, we had a little belated birthday party for me. I declined, which upset him a tad. He thinks it would be nice if I loosened up and partied at my party. But I told him that the most I'd do is have a sip of something alcoholic, and that it was the company that was more important. It's the importance of friends that makes the occasion, and friends have an infinitely greater value than any gift they can give.

So, again, you folks have my sincere thanks...and don't worry about the timing. The thread appeared late in the day, and I'm not picky. Of necessary, my birthday can extend another day or two, just to make sure everyone remains on time. :smallwink:

Oh...and Trog. The cake doesn't taste like lies. It was made of things that came from "unwashed ear." :smalltongue:
