584.

Probability really is a harlot, I once saw a roulette wheel land on 19 four times in a row. It cost me $500.

^ Ouch.

Difficult between 583 and 582 this time, but I liked the tree illusions and the Olympics joke.

Gotta be 584, though 581 isn't bad either.

Lien is awesome.

A really good collection today. I keep going back and forth between 584 and 582 but Therka's description of how hot Elan is really cracks me up, along with how Elan asks her out at the end.

Some good lines in several of them, but 581 has several good lines.

These five strips are all of a very good quality... well I'm voting for 585, for these two reasons:

"I had three kings showing"
"I thought you were bluffing really well".
(I love big dumb demons)

...long Vaarsuvius' speech...
WHOMP
(I love big dumb demons smashing puny little loquacious wizards)

584. XD The giant devil appearing with a tiny pop and Elan and V's comments, not to mention the interaction between Therkla and the paladins, are just classic.

Elan is hillarious and I really liked Therkla. For a half orc, she's very cute.

582, 583 and 584 are all really good. I'll go with 583, because:
:elan: Just 'cause you can't be my girlfriend doesn't mean you have to kill me.
:durkon: See? Tha's what I been tryin' ta say all along!

583. Durkon was right and it removed the cliffhanger from the previous comic, which many people were freaking out about for different reasons.

584 for the great line about probability and drama. But I also like 585 with V presenting his Common Sense as a rare commodity

I pick 584.

This is a very though call. All of them have at least one great joke. I love Elan's reaction in 582 and Durkon's in 583. However, 584 and 585 had more than one jokes. A very tough call. Aaaaah! 585. No, wait. 584. No, 585. 584... sold once, sold twice... 584 it is...

Oof. Another poor crop, just before it starts getting really good again. I'm going for 584, pretty much on the strength of Elan's last line.

Anyone ever notice that comic 585 still says 584 at the top (though it's covered by the big devil's speech balloon)?

I was dead set on 583, but 584 had to have the L&O reference. Followed by a strong finish, so 584 gets my vote.

well, I'll vote 582. It's got good exposition.

584.

582 would have had my vote if Durkon waited to talk until the NEXT strip, so it wouldn't have given it away.

583. At the time I remember thinking the story was about to head in a direction I didn't want it to go. This strip flipped everything and lead into an incredibly exciting little arc. Also, the trees are funny.

Aaaaaand 584 looks to win in a landslide, suggesting it should be at least a dark horse at BotQ. Certainly it would be a strong contender in most other quarters. 582 WAS only a personal favorite (only strip I didn't count six votes for) and was too utilitarian to collect any votes, but I'm surprised a strip with, really, only one joke (well, one and a half) edged 581 for second. That may reflect skewing of the vote further back in the pack by the magnitude of 584's victory.

Onward to the three rounds that will produce some epic contenders at BotQ and some of 542's biggest competition at BotH. 586 is more foreboding than anything, 587 is a major highlight with pregger-Kazumi's rampage, 588 may suffer by being a diversion from the main Therkla subplot (it does have the gag at the end but it's really the runt), 589 has some appeal for the abuse Daigo takes and Elan's dramatic chops, and 590 might be the strongest non-587 strip for the role reversal and the constant planning. Were it not for 590 587 would win by an even larger margin than 584, with 589 being the major dark horse. (In most quarters 587 would run away with the quarter as well.) I don't know if 588 or even 586 will receive more than one or two votes if that.
