Felucia is cool, but like everything there can kill you,
Personally I like Naboo, it seems less likely to kill you so long as you don't go in the water.

Which is why you stay out of the woods and stick to the five star resorts set-up everywhere. Or if you want to be really safe become an imperial officer and hide in one of their armored bunkers.

Bakura (without the Imperials, perhaps) wouldn't be such a bad place to live, either. There's this native plant that is processed into various candies and syrups that are basically a metric ton of PLEASURE (all caps) compressed into edible form.

Alternatively, Dac (home of the "IT'S A TRAP" Mon Calamari) might not be such a bad place to live, either, if you don't mind the Mon Calamari, the Quarren, and the occasional sea predator.

There's also Corellia, if you want what's basically New York, and the floating cities above Ithor (before it got firebombed) for a nice view.

Hm, decent question.

Coruscant seems like a good one, providing you could get a place open to the sky, rather than stuck on a lower level where you may as well be living in a cave (though that could be interesting I suppose...).

I liked Manaan from KotOR. If they had permanent housing on the surface of that planet - or I was lucky enough to be born of a species able to live underwater - I wouldn't mind living there.

Hmm.... I'm drawing a blank on other options. Alderaan and Naboo seem nice enough, but they're kinda generic choices. And the others coming to mind don't seem like a very good idea... Tatooine... Ry'loth... Mandalore... Hoth... Kashyyk... Nal Hutta... no, nothing that sounds like a good idea is coming to mind.

Alderaan was awesome, until it was destroyed.

Corellia isn't too bad, if you can find a period of history when the government isn't in a state of chaos.

Commonor is likewise a nice place by most descriptions, until it gets hit by a bunch of city-buster asteroids.

Kashyyyk isn't bad, if you stick to the upper levels of the forests, until it gets firebombed.

Yavin IV, (a moon) was ok until it got flattened by the Yuuzhan- oh forget it, I don't want to live in that galaxy. All the good planets have horrible things happen to them eventually. Mon Calamari and Commenor are your best bets, because total catastrophe has already befallen them, so it probably won't again for a while.

as far as I know the only predator there are the ogre-ish things that attack the ewoks.
The gorax? Nah, they're just the start. Giant spiders, condor-dragons, temptors...Endor could only be more insanely predatory if it was a sapient carnivorous planet like that one from Galaxy of Fear whose name eludes me...

Anyway, as for me, I'd say Naboo as well. It's biologically exciting, and as long as you ignore the Trade Federation invasion and Palpatine making it his "luxury pad" during the Empire, it's a pretty nice place to live.

ahh that explains it.

Anyway thinking a bit more, I think Bespin would be pretty neat, as long as your not afraid of heights. (but that goes for the upper layers of Coruscant, Nar Shadda and a variety of other planet wide cities as well.)

are you talking about the planet with the resort that the native species used to lure unsuspecting travelers to be eaten/absorbed by the planet so that the planet could in turn feed them?

Taris is a good place, as long as you're human, which I am. I think. This of course ignoring the Sith Occupation and eventual bombing. And as long as you're heartless enough to ignore all the poor people being crushed underfoot.

Also, Dantooine, as long as you don't mind being the only person for several kilometers.

Overall though, I think post-Restoration Telos takes the cake for being beautiful, wealthy, and just generally an awesome place. At least, until several millenia later when the whole place was ruined.

What is it with awesome planets and getting destroyed? :smallconfused:

Actually, yes, now that you mention it. It's called Zonama Sekot, which made a rather large number of appearances in the NJO books for an "unfindable planet." Nonetheless, the whole planet is sentient and enjoys having people live in peace and relative prosperity on its surface, occasionally creating an avatar to go talk to them about the weather or the answer to life, the universe, and everything. The planet is also force sensitive, and as such has the best orbital defenses (and produces the best ships, should the need arise) of anything in the galaxy. On top of that, it likes to hide in the weird anti-hyperspace, force-distorting storms in the unkown regions. Most importantly, it's passed outside of plot significance and gone into hiding again after NJO, so chances are that whatever bad guy Fate of the Jedi will come up with won't end up sterilizing it. Finally, the entire planet is hyperspace capable (not making this up), so if someone does show up with a planetbuster gun, you can rest easy knowing that the planet will probably leave before it gets blown to bits - possibly tearing up the enemy in the process. The only problem is that geological catastrophe begins whenever it does decide to move, but that's about as close as you're going to get.

Apparently dac is the mon-calamarian/quarren name for it.

It was originally called Dac in movie promotion stuff about Admiral Ackbar, but the guys who wrote the EU didn't know that so they called it Mon Calamari. Eventually, someone read that it was originally called Dac and retconed it.

Which makes sense since a planet with two antagonistic sentient species would not be named after only one of those species.

Yavin IV was a Sith world where the ghosts of one of the most powerful Sith Lords was still present. I'd stay as far away from that place as I could.

Forget about Rancors, worry about the Witches of Dathomir.:smalleek:

Since Witches of Dathomir have been known to ride Rancors, I don't see how that's a relevant seperation.

I'll have to be boring and say Naboo. Sure, they were briefly invaded by a Trade Federation army, and then occupied by the Empire, but nothing of that played a great part in the life of an everyday (human) citizen, I think. As long as I can avoid getting into the army/royal guard...

There's also the little problem of the Yuuzhan Vong making it their new homeworld since they discovered it was actually the "child" of their original homeworld. Most humans would probably not be very comfortable living among them, to say the least.

Well, yes. But the Yuuzhan Vong uber-biotech was neutralized and they live on a separate continent (so you wouldn't be living among them), watched over by a pair of Vong-Expert Jedi (Tekli and Dr. Quee, I think) and Zonama Sekot itself. I don't see it becoming a problem.

Yeah, Dac was the original name for the planet; I think the idea that the planet was known as Mon Calamari either came from The Glove of Darth Vader or Dark Empire, whichever of those came first.

Since it's just me, I'd probably live on Naboo. If nothing else, Palpatine using it as a summer home probably kept it from getting into as bad a shape as some planets.

If I had the resources though, I'd hire a bunch of Ugnaughts, make them wear beards, and build a city on Mustafar. That city would be known as Boatmurdered and all problems would be solved with the liberal application of magma.

Pantolomin (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Pantolomin): it's mostly a resort planet covered with oceans, but with enough land I'll bet they have some really nice beaches. Plus, submarine casinos!

Sure, Thrawn attacked it, but he didn't attack the planet per se, he was just after a passenger on the Coral Vanda, one of the aforementioned submarine casinos, because he supposedly knew the coordinators of the Katana Fleet.

Alderaan would have been nice ('cause I like mountains), but it "got blowed up real good." And really, Ryloth, despite being full of nummy, lithe, nubile females, is really inhospitable.

Hm... Naboo and Coruscant seem like fairly good places considering the other choices, if a bit to urban. Tatooine would be interesting, especially with the...rather lax law system. Or Kashyyk, pre-firebombing. Woods=awesome. Woods with Wookies=uber awesome.

I think I'd live in Cloud City. Bespin is pretty nice, there's beautiful scenery, and it's fairly upper class despite being really out of the way. Plus you don't have to worry too much about the Empire or the Hutts or most other nasty groups you'd normally encounter elsewhere, most of the time at least.

Togoria is a nice world. Great hunting, time away from the wife because the culture says I have to....

Corellia (or one of the other worlds in the system) would also be nice.

Csilla very nice, but a tad chilly. Great people though. Free from invasion. Strong military. Good morals.

But the ONLY world to live on. To be free? To chart your own destany and never be conquered or ruled by the outsiders?

Yelsain is a good choice for me right off. It's a heavily forested planet of huge trees with lots of mountains. The trees produce lots of oxygen and eat up carbon dioxide, leading to a cool climate with nightly thunderstorms. The people there are mostly rural, live in the trees, and have advanced universities. Their society is anarchist in nature, which suits me just fine. It's also mostly human, which is a big plus for me.
The high oxygen content and lower-than-normal gravity are just icing on the cake.

The downsides, I suppose, are that the thunderstorms are likely to cause fires in the trees. I can't imagine it rains every night along with the storms, though- that would be too fast of a water cycle, and the ground would be perpetually inundated. Also, there are huge animals, including some large predators. Of course, we have guns.

Of the other anarchist planets?
Deyer has too much water. Antar 4, despite the fun tidal patterns, weird electromagnetism, and irregular light/dark patterns, is full of Gotals, and as an autistic I really don't want to live with a bunch of natural empaths. Tuulab would be okay, but I hate flat-boring plains. Also, the total population on Tuulab is less than the nearest city to my home.

So, I choose Yelsain.

Practically no one lives in peace with nature on Ithor. They live high tech lifestyles in orbital platforms above Ithor. It's like having a perfect beautiful and sexy wife you're not allowed to even touch and can only talk to through a glass screen.

Mustafar, hands down. I'm actually terrfied of volcanoes but for some reason I'd really like to live there.
