Vehicle questions way down below since no one has interest in what I wrote up here. :P

Two things:
THING 1: So. Is there any sort of WBL equivalent in the Core Rulebook for higher levels? I don't think there is. I mean, obviously you can only have a rough guideline considering one class can get 35,000+ credits a level, easily. Was wondering what you lot had come up with for starting people at levels higher than one?

I was thinking of sorting it by 'types', and letting players pick their track:
Ascetic Academic

{table=head]Level Range|Rewards
1 - 3|Starting Credits
4 - 7|Starting Credits, one priceless artifact such as a holocron, Sith Talisman, or rare crystal, one other piece of equipment worth 3,000 credits or less.
8 - 12|3,000 credits spare, two priceless artifacts (such as a holocron, Sith Talisman, or rare crystal), one other piece of equipment worth 6,000 credits or less.
13 - 17|6,000 credits spare, three priceless artifacts (such as a holocron, Sith Talisman, or rare crystal), one other piece of equipment worth 12,000 credits or less.
18 - 20|9,000 credits spare, four priceless artifacts (such as a holocron, Sith Talisman, or rare crystal), one other piece of equipment worth 18,000 credits or less.
Flight Jockey

{table=head]Level Range|Rewards
1 - 3|Starting Credits
4 - 7|Starting Credits, one other piece of equipment worth 2,000 credits or less, any huge or smaller vehicle worth 30,000 credits or less.
8 - 12|2,000 credits spare, any gargantuan or smaller vehicle worth 60,000 credits or less, one other piece of equipment worth 4,000 credits or less.
13 - 17|4,000 credits spare, any colossal or smaller vehicle worth 120,000 credits or less including upgrades, one other piece of equipment worth 8,000 credits or less.
18 - 20|8,000 credits spare, any colossal (frigate) or smaller vehicle worth 250,000 credits or less including upgrades, one other piece of equipment worth 16,000 credits or less.
Show Me the Money
Best for someone who wants to have lots and lots of little stuff.
{table=head]Level Range|Rewards
1 - 3|2,000 credits or starting
4 - 7|8,000 credits
8 - 12|18,000 credits
13 - 17|32,000 credits
18 - 20|50,000 credits
Standard Spacer

{table=head]Level Range|Rewards
1 - 3|Starting Credits
4 - 7|Starting Credits, one weapon or armor they have proficiency in, one other piece of equipment worth 2,000 credits or less.
8 - 12|2,000 credits spare, two weapons or armor they have proficiency in, one other piece of equipment worth 4,000 credits or less.
13 - 17|4,000 credits spare, three weapons or armor they have proficiency in, one other piece of equipment worth 8,000 credits or less.
18 - 20|8,000 credits spare, four weapons or armor they have proficiency in, one other piece of equipment worth 16,000 credits or less.
Equipment here counts as droids or items, not vehicles. These numbers obviously need work, and I could probably do with something more inventive for the Ascetic Academic. Numbers are in addition to money gained through Wealth talent. The flight jockey gets a huge bonus in terms of straight money, but I figure it's allowed because vehicles tend to be a party investment as well as a personal one.

This would not be a guide for the DM while leveling, but for smoothing out character creation above 1st level. Thoughts?

THING 2: Bacta tanks are 130,000 credits to get worked out properly. And at most they add 20 hit points - for a level 20 - regained per surgery. A dedicated medic can perform surgery every 5 minutes, and restore on average... I'd guess 1.5x character level. The number restored is even higher with some medic talents and higher still if you're a medical droid. What the heck.

You're right, WBL doesn't officially exist. But, it's because it isn't really necessary in this system. Unless you're buying starships, have really pimped out equipment, or wanna buy a lot of thermal detonators, you just don't need that many credits.

In my own experience, my players just reached level 6 and I'm allowing new players to start with whatever basic weapons, armor & equipment from the core book that seems reasonable so long as they don't go overboard with it. Plus a decent d% x 100 credits for spare change.

That's how I'm working it right now too, 'whatever seems reasonable', but with the very high cost of a lot of armor and ships and the lack of cost for stuff like holocrons and saber crystals, I thought it'd be good to try and work out a system of some uniformity.

Also - quick q about skills listed in vehicle statblocks - are they bonuses to the pilot, or the skill set of an average rider so a DM can more easily pre-use them in an encounter?

The listed skill modifiers are the total modifiers for the listed crew quality.

That's what I thought, but I wanted confirmation - there were two speeders where one was supposed to be higher quality but crewed with a normal pilot and the other with a skilled pilot, but they came out to about the same, making me unsure. Thanks again, Mando.

The listed skill modifiers are the total modifiers for the listed crew quality.

The same is also true of the ship's attack bonuses.

More vehicle questions, as no one has interest in what I wrote up here.

What are the options available for upgrading speeders and speederbikes, if any? They don't have emplacement points, and Advanced Template doesn't even list improvements for the size category of a proper speederbike (Large).

Sadly, there isn't much support out there for non-starship vehicles. Tech Specialist modifications should work, and you might be able to use some of the starship modification rules from Starships of the Galaxy. I would assume that other vehicles besides starships also come with 1 unused emplacement point, but there doesn't seem to be a great way of gaining more of them. Let's see....

Most of the movement systems are out, but you could put atmoshperic thrusters on an airspeeder.

Armor is fine, but shields are probably a no-go unless the vehicle is at least Huge size.

For weapons, you might be able to swing something small on a larger vehicle, but otherwise you'd have to mount personal weapons on it.

And starship accessories are pretty much all not usable.

So... that doesn't leave much. There might be a couple usable upgrades in Scum & Villainy, either in the starship section or in the general equipment modification section, but there's not too much there to begin with. Unfortunately, until they put out more material for speeders and other vehicles, we're pretty SOL on upgrades unless we wanna make it up ourselves. :smallannoyed::smallsigh:
