In #526 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0562.html) Kubota is reading a source book and I can't figure out what it is, though I recognize it. Does anybody know?

It's a 4E book, either PHB or DMG (I don't know which.) Likely he was looking for advantages to aristocrats for upgrading.

That strip was the same day that 4E came out in stores and Rich was making a joke about getting it in the mail himself and the evil noble at the same time.

Looks like the 4E DMG to me.

Definitely the DMG, from the color scheme and orientation of the shapes. Which I find appropriate...he seemed the sort to glance at the DM's notes if offered half a chance.

Would Kubota be in a position to affect the change in mechanical rules for organizing power centers in urban areas? It must be fairly awkward for him to have the LE alignment removed.

I'd like to see someone comment on 4E alignments in the strip. Perhaps a god like Thor, or maybe LE IFCC director?

He was probably looking up the 4E poisons. But decided that that he liked the save or die effects associated with the traditional Con poisons.

We're lucky. If it had been the Evil Overlord Guide, he might still be alive today.

The other two books in the box could very well be the 4e Monster Manual and Player's Handbook. He's just looking at them one at a time.

Definitely the 4E DMG. He may have been an evil bastard, but he had excellent taste.

Maybe he was reading Twilight? If he was, then V should be praised as a hero for ridding the world of one more insane Twitard, whether shi knew about it or not.

...Okay, sorry. No completely random Twilight bashing on Giantitp, Carnie, even if some of your friends have been complete tards about it lately. Bad girl. -goes and sits in the corner-

The colors of the book Kubota is reading kinda matches the 4th ED DMG for the red and blue and yellows, but there is something on Kubota's book that looks like a grey sword blade extending from the lower left hand side to about the halfway point that I'm not seeing anything to match on the 4th ED DMG.

It's not exact, but it most indeed is the dragon encircling the orb-globe of that book.

Not unless it was also a Manual of Bodily Health.
