The Mandate of Heaven was first written upon the arch of the sky by Sol Invictus’s mighty hand, proclaiming the Solar Exalted as masters of all Creation. As long as the Sun’s Chosen stand within their mandated sanctum, all beings must bow before them and their cosmic power. Whenever the Solar casts a spell to summon a spirit, be it elemental or demon, he need spend no Willpower to do so. In addition, if a roll is required to subdue the summoned being’s will, the sorcerer receives bonus successes equal to his Occult. The character does not gain these bonus successes when attempting to bind demons of the Third Circle, although he still does not have to pay the Willpower cost. This Charm is of no avail to the Solar if he is not within Creation or Yu-Shan; alien realms pay no heed to what mandates the Incarnae have handed down.

Sorcerer’s Limitless Mastery

Prerequisite Charms: Solar Circle Sorcery

Having mastered the pinnacle of sorcery, the Adamant Circle that is the sole right of the Solar Exalted, all lesser arts become as child’s play for the sorcerer. His every hand motion is a potent mudra, and every word he speaks is an invocation of weal or woe. A sorcerer with this Charm can cast spells of the Emerald Circle even if he does not know them. Doing so increases the cost of the spell by 10 motes and a point of Willpower, and requires the sorcerer to take an additional action to shape the spell. In addition, when he casts the spell, he must make an (Essence + Occult) roll, with a -2 external penalty. Success on the roll allows the sorcerer to cast the spell normally; failure means the spell harmlessly fizzles and dissipates. On a botch, the Storyteller should either have the spell backfire spectacularly, or be cast normally–save that the sorcerer has no control over it.

A second purchase at Essence 6 allows the sorcerer access to spells of the Sapphire Circle, allowing him to cast celestial spells he has not learned. When doing so, their cost is increased by 15 motes and two points of Willpower, and the penalty on the (Essence + Occult) roll is -4. A third and final purchase at Essence 7 allows the sorcerer truly limitless power, bringing the Adamant Circle within the purview of this Charm. Solar Sorcery spells cast with this Charm have their cost increased by 20 motes and 3 points of Willpower, and the penalty on the (Essence + Occult) roll to cast them is -6. Any failure on the roll should be treated as a botch–there is no way to safely fail at casting a spell of the Adamant Circle.

Sevenfold Abjuration Aura

Type: Simple

Duration: One scene
Prerequisite Charms: Terrestrial Circle Sorcery

The arts of sorcery reshape reality to fit their master’s whim, letting him set all Creation in the order sees fit. Should one who has mastered such primordial arts be victim to blades or errant arrows? When a Solar invokes this Charm, his anima banner flares to its totemic state, and remains there for the duration of the scene. Whenever the Solar begins shaping a spell, his totem winds about him, forming a defensive guardian. While shaping a spell, the Solar’s soak is increased by +10B/+10L, and he gains bashing and lethal hardness of (Essence), if his own hardness is not already higher.

Prerequisite Charms: Solar Circle Sorcery

Sorcery was once the sole domain of the Primordials, its essence emanating from their numinous souls and shaping the world from chaos. Stepping over the threshold of humanity, a sorcerer can open his mind to the patterns of Primordial essence. Upon learning this Charm, the sorcerer gains a point of permanent Limit–in opening his mind to the true nature of sorcery, he risks his very sanity. The sorcerer finds he can shape sorcery with the greatest of ease. Any Shape Sorcery or Cast Sorcery action he takes has a speed of 3.

At Essence 6, the sorcerer gains even greater mastery over sorcery, though he must accept another point of permanent Limit to gain the benefits. Any Shape Sorcery or Cast Sorcery actions he takes are treated as miscellaneous actions, allowing him to flurry them with other actions as normal. He may use reflexive Charms and Combos normally while casting spells, and may use excellencies to enhance any Cast Sorcery actions he takes.

Prerequisite Charms: Genius Transgression Method

By the power of sorcery alone did the Primordials impose order on the shifting Wyld, casting it in the shapes they chose. A sorcerer willing to forsake his claim to humanity and sacrifice his sanity may call up the same power the titans of old wielded, mastering the Wyld. Upon learning this Charm, the sorcerer gains a point of permanent Limit as his mind encompasses the god-like power of Primordial Sorcery. While in the Wyld, the sorcerer gains the power to cast sorcerous spells with no mote or Willpower cost. He can cast spells of the Emerald Circle without cost while in the Bordermarches or deeper; spells of the Sapphire Circle within the Middlemarches or deeper, and spells of the Adamant Circle in Pure Chaos alone. However, when he does so, he gains points of (temporary) Limit equal to the circle of the spell (one for Terrestrial, two for Celestial, and three for Solar). Some things man was not meant to know.
