I'm looking for a card that has the effect "creatures you control can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control" or "creatures you control can't be the target of spells or abilities." preferably the first one because I have a few spells and abilities I'd like to be able to use on them but if I can only get the second one that's fine too.

also there's this one card you automatically get at the start of the game that has the second effect but I have a feeling my friends won't allow me to use that one. so none of those please

First off, we have a thread for Magic over here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111185).

Secondly, try Privileged Position (http://magiccards.info/rav/en/251.html).

thank you so much. if I knew you in RL I'd hug you right now. Oh and sorry for the mistake. I feel embarrassed. I thought that was only related to planeswalkers.

We're the planeswalkers in question. Welcome!

There's also Plaxmanta, Steely Resolve and Tortoise Formation for full shroud, but cheaper.

Alternately, there's the slither cheese from a few expansions back.

those are okay but I was really looking for something more permanent than one round or one type of creature. thanks though.

yay I'm a planeswalker!

what's Slither? or is it slither cheese?

Slivers. They're creatures that bestow benefits upon all other Slivers, so with 4 of these in play, each one would gain the powers of the other 3 in addition to its own.

There's also the Leyline of Lifeforce, which makes creature spells immune to being countered, thus making sure your opponent has even less ways of offing your critters (who are still vulnerable to Wrath of God and such).

Specifically, Crystalline Sliver. (http://magiccards.info/sh/en/139.html)

Your creatures can still be offed even with that in play - it does nothing to protect them, sadly.

Pulmonic Sliver (http://magiccards.info/ts/en/36.html) prevents Wraths though. :smalltongue:

my cousin will be happy to know about crystalline sliver. he uses a sliver deck. I myself don't. here's the best deterrent against a sliver deck though. http://cgi.ebay.com/4x-Plague-Sliver-MTG-Time-Spiral-TS-MINT_W0QQitemZ350225984171QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_De faultDomain_0?hash=item518b186aab&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|293%3A1| 294%3A50

sorry for the overlong link. how do you just put a link into words like "here"?

edit: it was overlong when I posted it.

oh and a question. privileged position's ability is "other permanents you control can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control" if you were to have two of them out at a time would their effect make it so neither of them could be affected as well?

Ack, it's growing. Hopefully a mod can merge this into the main MTG thread.

Pulmonic Sliver (http://magiccards.info/ts/en/36.html) prevents Wraths though. :smalltongue:

It saves them, but it also kills your draws, particularly if you don't have all the lands you need yet. Besides, there are other (http://magiccards.info/eve/en/7.html) wraths (http://magiccards.info/bok/en/4.html) you can use instead.

Google! (http://www.google.com) = Google! (http://www.google.com).

And yes, I love Plague Sliver. Even without a sliver opponent, it just becomes Juzam Djinn. If only they made one for elves...

Yes. Sweepers like Tempest of Light (http://magiccards.info/10e/en/51.html) can still destroy them, however.

but how? it would target them and if having two of them out at a time would allow them to both be affected by their abilities then they couldn't be affected.

oh and little question about the planeswalkers themselves. I just bought Chandra Nalaar and was wondering how her abilities work.

I know, but there are a lot of blue decks that bounce stuff and then counter it on the cheap, which is like destroying.

But it means your opponent knows what you're gonna be drawing for the next few turns, and since you're likely to have a LOT of Slivers in play...

Engineered Plague works well, too.

but how? it would target them and if having two of them out at a time would allow them to both be affected by their abilities then they couldn't be affected.
Tempest of Light doesn't target. If an effect doesn't use the word "target" then it doesn't target. So your mans would be protected from Shock, but not Inferno.

hehe my cousins don't know this yet.:smallamused: I'll tell them eventually don't worry. I just need a few counter cards for my deck first.

and can somebody explain the idea of a planeswalker please? can you use their abilities more than once per turn or is it like a tap ability?

You can only use one of the abilities a planeswalker has once a turn. And only on your own turn. (I think it's also sorcery speed but I'm not too sure about that)

Mystic Muse

sorcery speed?:smallconfused: does this mean you can only use it on your turn?

Only on your turn, when the stack is empty.
