So, having seen it brought up on a few other threads, I just remembered how much I used to like this cartoon. Anyone else remember the zany adventures of Coop, Jamie and Kiva? What about that simply amazing Glorft leader, Gorrath? :smallbiggrin:

Well, you can get the episodes off iTunes. Xbox Live has them too, I believe. Not sure about DVDs, though.

And yeah, Megas XLR was awesome. Though I think my favorite joke wasn't the buttons...in one episode, Coop is using a video game handgun to control Megas and make it shoot things. Unfortunately, it runs out of ammo. Coop then aims the handgun away from the window, fires it, then ammo is restored and he keeps firing. I loved that...

Megas XLR would be awesome to see in Super Robot Wars, along with Iron Man. As mentioned however, it'd probably be a wildcard unit capable of indiscriminate destruction (as per Coop's tendency to screw up his allies horrifically) and storywise he might be more of an Antihero Jerkass who would burst into the middle of battle to challenge the villains, though also cause all sortsa hell for the protagonists (getting into a grudge match with Sanger, eliminates most of your weaker units, etc) before being "befriended" Nanoha style. Could use humorous copies of others' weapons, such as tag-teaming with Gurren Lagann, with GL using it's drill and Megas pulling a Jackhammer out of nowhere as a rough equivalent.

Jamie... Would probably be useless as always save for being slapped around by females for hitting on them and Kiva might just get her own thing to pilot (with gainaxing aplenty for special attacks).


The latter two could already fit into an Anime setting, seeing as Jamie is voiced by Steven Blum and Kiva by Wendee Lee (making this the closest to having Haruhi in a game like this, sorta).

A Western cartoon is widely considered a better Giant Robot Show than any Japanese Giant Robot Show, even though the Japanese (I think...) invented the genre?

Not necessarily better than any other Japanese show (Hello, Gurren Lagann! Hello, Diebuster! And that's just from Super Robot shows, as that's where Megas belongs - it's definitely not a Real Robot).
But definitely pretty sweet and something we'd really like to see in a SRW game.

Megas looks around for a moment, shrugs and throws the largest part like a football.

IIRC, Ultimate Iron Man once protected an island from a nuke by surrounding it with a giant forcefield.
