Om Nom Nom Nom!
-Many a traveler to Cibus

Cibus, the eternal banquet, was willed into existence by the craving for sustenance of all living things throughout the multiverse. It is a plane of foodstuffs, of mountain sized cakes, cuts of filet mignon the size of fields, unstable hillsides of pancakes, and seas of wine. Cibus is infinite though individual areas within it have a fixed size, and only the Withering is truly infinite.

The landscape is continually shifting, sucking consumed areas underground and pushing fresh delicacies up to the surface. Unwary creatures caught in these occasional foodquakes may suffocate or be crushed.

-Cibus consists of two areas, the Dish and the Withering. Dish is a perfectly circular area consisting of 8 concentric rings. Each ring is over a hundred thousand miles wide. The Withering is an infinite area surrounding the Dish.

Special Traits:
-Most of Dish is mildly positively aligned, while the Withering is negatively aligned. Both areas of Cibus are completely neutral, though both good and evil creatures reside in them.
-Organic matter does not rot in the Dish, including the base food of the plane or corpses.
-Creatures never need to excrete on Cibus. All food digested is converted entirely into energy.
-Normal gravity.
-Normal time.
-Normal magic.
-Alterable by normal physical means, though most construction is rendered moot by the regenerating landscape.

Petitioners
Souls that migrate to Cibus are usually gluttons, gourmands, or those that die of starvation. Depending on circumstance they usually take one of four forms:

Gourmand
Gourmands are the souls of experts chefs, who forget all knowledge they had in life except for their cooking ability. They appear as portly rosy cheeked humanoids with pig snouts, and are constantly laughing as they whip up new creations and improve recipes.

Obesoids
Obesoids are the souls of the gluttonous. They appear as shapeless masses of giggling flesh with crude outlines of arms, and massive yawning mouths. At first they appear and behave almost as they did in life, but over centuries of ceaseless consumption they become more and more inhuman and grow in size. A giant obesoid will devour anything and anyone in its path. Once an obesoid becomes colossal the ground will no longer support their weight and they'll plummet into the ground, possibly to merge with Cibus.

Hungry
The hungry are undead outsiders trapped in the Withering. Armies of them longingly reach for the meat ring of Carrion, only to be repulsed by the Dish's positive energy. They devour any living creature within reach. Their appearance is that of gaunt zombies flecked with undead flies. They are subject to a cleric's turning ability, despite also being outsiders.

Edible
Skinless versions of living creatures that willingly allow themselves to be eaten though it still causes them agony. Most of them are animals slain for meat, but Carrion contains edible versions of sentient humanoids killed by predators. Edibles have fast healing and fully regenerate unless their skeleton is also destroyed.

Environment
The air and temperature of Cibus is generally pleasant for all living things. Clouds of fragrant steam float high overhead, cooking the rare flying creature that doesn't avoid them. Occasionally there are rainshowers of wine and syrup, or hailstorms of meatballs.

Cibus has no sun or moon, but the sky overhead has a persistent red glow flecked with black, like glowing coals. The Big Rock Candy Mountain also emits a faint white light, illuminating all the rings of Dish up to Eden with pleasant natural light, and giving the sky a blue appearance until Carnos. There is no nighttime on Cibus, though eternal darkness occupies the farther regions of the Withering.

Rings of Dish

Big Rock Candy Mountain
The center most ring of Dish is not a ring but a circle. It contains the Big Rock Candy Mountain, a massive peak of crystallized sugar thousands of miles high covered with powdered sugar snow. Plateaus on its side contain forests of peppermint trees with chocolate bark, jelly sap, and leaves of sweet edible mint. Truffles and sucking candies grow from bushes, and lollipop flowers sprout amidst green taffy grass. Small streams of dessert wines and mead trickle down the sides of the mountain. Towards the top the temperature becomes bitingly cold and there are glaciers of ice cream.

Not many creatures can survive exclusively on the sweet candy of the mountain alone, and it contains few living creatures. The highest peak in the exact center of Cibus is entirely bare and so positively charged that it proves fatal to most creatures after a few hours, even if they don't succumb to the cold. From on top the mountain one can see all the way to the Withering.

Native creatures of the Mountain include small populations of Candy Elves, which are similar to elves but small sized. They have the ability to magically sculpt and craft candy, and live in little towns of gingerbread cottages. The barren peaks contain the Sugar Giants, crystalline creatures of giant size that roam the slopes eating boulders to replenish the fragments constantly fracturing off their bodies. Colonies of formians dig complex labyrinth colonies deep underground beneath the mountain. Dreaming children sometimes manifest in physical form on the mountain, and vanish once they awaken back in their home plane.

Cookie Hills
The second ring of Cibus are the cookie hills, the land of sweet baked goods. The area closest to the mountain consists of immense cakes, cookie ridges, interspersed with swamps of chocolate mousse and cheesecake. Cupcake mushrooms and gnarled trees of licorice sprout from these masses. There are fruits and vegetables made of marzipan. A river of milk flows from the foothills down through Carbos to the Broth sea,

Living jello slimes roam these slopes, being devoured by creatures larger than them and consuming creatures smaller than them. The ground is filled with burrowing gummi worms.

Carbos
The third ring is the ring of bread. The area bordering the cookie hills starts with mountains of sweet bread and croissants, eventually becoming rough flatlands of sourdough. There are rare bubbling hotsprings of pure dough that function like burning hot quicksand. Some areas are arid deserts consisting of crumbs that whip around in blinding storms.

There are no trees, but there are occasional plateaus of slice bread, covered in vines of thick pasta. The border of Carbos is a coastline of crumb sand facing the Broth.

Carbos is home to Gastros, city of chefs. A massive kitchen citadel of bone is situated on the shore, filled with the fires of thousands of ovens, and gleaming counters where millions of cooks combine ingredients from across the Dish into more complex and delicious forms. Obesoids devour their creations in the surrounding restaurants, though visitors from other planes frequently visit to sample the finest food in all creation.

Broth
The fourth ring of Broth is a thick churning sea that is connected to every part of the Dish by underground rivers. It's filled with numerous ingredients from all over the plane, some that float to the surface as massive unstable islands. The salty broth is thin but nourishing, and deliciously spiced. The sea is filled with countless edible sea creatures and boats roam the surface to catch the delicious fare. Some massive creatures like whales and squid may consider the boats delicious though.

Aquas
The fifth ring is an adjacent sea to Broth, this one made of pure fresh water. Unlike Broth this area contains little sea life, as impurities are completely dissolved. The surface of Aquas is safe to enter and drink, but once a creature travels deeper than twenty feet the liquid acts like acid, and utterly eliminates any trace even of creatures with acid resistance. Drinking from Aquas instantly neutralizes all poisons. There are portals to the elemental plane of water in Aquas that take the form of sudden fierce whirlpools.

The few islands in Aquas are mountains of crystalline glass, filled with grottos and lagoons of top shelf liquor. Retrieving this alcohol is perilous though, as sharp glass rocks await all but the most carefully piloted ships.

Eden
The sixth ring is a ring of plant life. Oversize fruits and vegetables the size of cows sprout from a rich earthy loam. Fruit that falls doesn't rot, but becomes sweet edible dried fruit. Immense fruit trees several miles dot a landscape of fields. Eden contains giant bees and other beneficial insects that rarely attack unprovoked. Immense ladybugs attack anyone who would harm a plant for purposes other than food. Rivers of juice flow into lakes of wine, and eventually spill into the purifying waters of Aquas.

Eden has been colonized by several mortal races, primarily halflings, who grow oversized as well as normal crops in the fertile soil. It is also home to the Druids of Good Eden, an order of fertility druids who erected several giant stone Food Pyramids to worship at. The jolly green giants, humanoids about a hundred feet tall, roam through Eden taking care not to step on smaller creatures.

There are two giant apple trees on opposite sides of Eden twice as tall as any of the others, one rumored to grant knowledge and the other immortality. Both are guarded by armies of powerful good creatures.

Carnos
The seventh ring of Cibus is the ring of butchered meat. The ground itself is made of giant slabs of various meats, though all are raw. Rough mountains spurs of bone sprout from these soft fields. Carnos contains living creatures in the forms of Edibles, food elemental versions of domesticated and hunted animals. These appear as normal creatures, except all are exposed flesh without fur or skin, and all are fully cooked. They will approach visitors and willingly allow themselves to be eaten, though they still moan in pain while consumed. It is rumored the Edibles are the souls of animals killed for meat. Vast flocks of vultures roam the sky, and packs of wolves are too busy consuming the land to attack visitors.

An immense river of wine flows through Carnos into Carrion, but once in Carrion it becomes a river of blood. Carnos is home to packs of Bacchae, wine nymphs, who depending on their mood will invite visitors to feast and drink with them, other times attack and devour them, sometimes all in the same night.

Carrion
The eighth ring is Carrion, the land of pestilence. In many ways it is similar to Carnos, except here all the meat is covered in dangerous swarms of carnivorous vermin. A turgid river of blood flows through its twisted crags of flesh.

Edibles here include versions of sentient creatures but here all are raw, and parts of the landscape consists of immense partially devoured giant human remains. It is a place of horror, and creatures that die here soon rise as Edibles.

The Withering

The Withering is hunger. It is eternal longing. It is the anguish of your own body consuming itself. It surrounds the dish and stretches into infinity, becoming more and more negatively charged the further it goes. Mortals without protective magic suffer health loss merely by being there, and the negative energy eventually becomes fatal even to undead if one travels several million miles outward.

The Hungry, the souls of those who die of starvation, amass in thick crowds several miles wide just out of reach of Carrion. They longingly reach for the gruesome meat but are repelled by the Dish's positive energy. The Hungry will attempt to attack and devour any living thing that enters the Withering.

Beyond the crowds there is only desolate gray waste, much like the negative energy plane, and the two regions overlap in various places. Devils and demons sometimes maintain citadels out in the Withering to serve as bases for forces that recover food from Carrion as victuals for the blood war.

There is a single city in the Withering, Mirage, that randomly teleports every few hours. The city inside is charged with positive energy, and filled with endless banquets of fine food and drink prepared by Gourmands. It is entirely safe while in place, but when it teleports it leaves everyone but its staff behind, suddenly stranding guests in the perils of the the Withering.

And the Nobel Prize goes to... Lysander! For curing world hunger!

I like the idea, but I think it should be expanded to include a plane for each deadly sin. Gluttony, sloth, wrath, etc.

A giant obesoid will devour anything and anyone in its past.

Although their hunger may give them time-traveling abilities, I suppose you mean to say the will devour anything in their path.

I want Elemental Plane of Sex and Elemental Plane of Hard Drugs.

I assume you mean the Elemental Plane of Sex, Elemental Plane of Drugs and the Elemental Plane of Rock & Roll. Don't forget to stat the nexus where they meet: Mick Jagger.

Those obesoids will fit right in on the Elemental Plane of Flesh, especially in Obee City (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3045029#post3045029). :smallwink:

If this was for a video game, I can imagine this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMWi7CLoZ2Q) being the theme song for this area.

This is too awesome for words.

Are the Hungry the third type of petitioner? If not, what is?

My mistake, there are four. The hungry are third, edibles are the fourth kind.

Bumpity bump.

The Withering description is in place. Also, a few additions to the rings like the Bacche and the Food Pyramid druids in Eden.

That was absolutely cute. Seriously, I am gorshing* at the seams here, but this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4rG5nB7wB0) would be another fitting song for this place.
*Gorshing GOR-shing. (rhymes with gore swing)
To be so endeared by cuteness that you start talking in squeaky gibbering baby talk.

A very interesting plane. It will be interesting to see the crunch (pun not intended) as well.

Someone gave me a creature idea, which I shall now pass along to you:

Chocolate Chip Cookie Does (and the occasional Buck)

That's awesome. There may be cold weather varieties on the ice cream glaciers.

On the inner rings there are a lot of food animals I imagine, like kangaoreos, elephondants, and lemon-lions.

If you are headed in that direction, I strongly suggest you consider including Ursula Vernon's fruit and vegetable creatures (http://ursulav.deviantart.com/gallery/#Weird-Fruit).

Regardless of whether you include those in the setting or not, someone really should stat out a Pearaphim (http://ursulav.deviantart.com/art/Pearaphim-25026952) one of these days.
