Using a completely random number generator (based on atmospheric noise) I managed to roll up these stats, even after performing my usual rites to the gods of chaos and randomness.

with a roll between 3 and 18, In order:
3, 3, 5, 7, 13, 12

Yeah... that's gonna be one heck of a bard :smallannoyed:

Now tell me your stories of tragic rolls, and the poor heroes created by them.

Holy... or Unholy, rather.... wait, you want to play a BARD!? You must be insane.. this is just not going to go well. Let's see... if I was playing a bard, I'd:

STR: 12 (Do you want to carry ANYTHING AT ALL!?)
DEX: 5 (Yup... You'll be as nimble as a... potato...)
CON: 7 (Hit Points? Who needs Hit Points!?)
WIS: 3 (Common sense? Not so common afterall...)
INT: 3 (Durr..)
CHA: 13 (Needed for Bardic Abilities/Spells)

Aren't the official 3.5 rules stating that you can reroll if you roll "this low" on a stat roll? I mean... your ending result is a negative modifier... so I think that qualifies...

Edit: Oh, didn't see that you wanted us to tell you our stories. Well, my worst stat roll wasn't all that bad... 90 points total..

The ending result was:

STR: 18
DEX: 14
CON: 18
INT: 10
WIS:8
CHA: 10

Not that bad, but it wasn't up to par on this campaigns stat rolls..

9 stats, 3d6, rolled in order, 2 4d6b3 rerolls that I can place after rolling. My numbers went from 5-10, mostly 7-9, with one 15. Rough character to play in a system where death is much easier than in D&D.

Not actually gonna play with this array, the comment was for pure comedy gold :smallwink:

Oh, heh. Didn't notice that... figured I'd see if I could make the stats work, and apperently I can't. That thing wouldn't last a half a day.

(Edited previous post with my tale of low stats...)

My group instated a point-buy system way back in 2nd edition specifically to combat these sorts of situations.

That said, I think before we decided that, I had a player roll up something like:

Str: 6
Dex: 8
Con: 11
Int: 12
Wis: 9
Cha: 4

Too bad he wanted to be a Fighter. And then, the person who wanted to be a Cleric got:

Str: 18
Dex: 12
Con: 16
Int: 12
Wis: 7
Cha: 7

Yeah, rolling stats didn't last so long with us. Especially the idiotic 2nd edition way of "roll and assign in order".

I once rolled 10, 11, 10, 11, 12, 7. DM would not let me reroll.

I played an Expert. Game made it three sessions, I was the only one who didn't die.

The one time that I decided to just take whatever stats came my way, instead of point-buy or re-rolling, I got these:

STR 9
DEX 4
CON 11
INT 4
WIS 7
CHA 5

It's crap like that that led to me creating the Oaves (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2216051#post2216051), which is the only race that I know of that can benefit nicely from poor stats.

I've always been very grateful for:
A) The Line the in PHB that say you need a minimum highest bonus of +2
B) My DM's rules for your minimum total roll (85) (We use 5d6 take away 2 lowest, 7 times)

I cannot remember the exact numbers, but I had rolled up an array that had 4 as it's lowest point and 9 at the highest. Twice in a row.

The DM joked that if he wasn't allowing the optional reroll rules, he would have handed me the standard monster array instead...

B) My DM's rules for your minimum total roll (85) (We use 5d6 take away 2 lowest, 7 times)We came up with a system of 4d6 drop 1 six times. Player with the highest total keeps his as is, the rest get half, rounded down, of the difference, assignable as they wish. Have to start with a legal (total bonus minimum of +1) set of stats.

It's suprising how that balances out. Sure you have less points, but if you really roll bad you have a half dozen points to place as you want.

I told my PbP players to roll 4d6b3 six times, and that a player could reroll as many times as he or she needed, if his or her total modifiers added together were less than 3, or if his or her highest score was less than 16.

One of my players got 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 16.

He put the 16 into Strength and made a fighter.

I think... that if I got that stat spread, I might possibly actually be a Wizard for once.

...Nah, I'd just be a Psion.

My worst, was one of the most fun. Played an archery based Ranger with:
Str: 11
Dex: 18 (+2 for being an Elf, so 20 at level 1)
Con: 9 (7 after modifier)
Wis: 9
Int: 7
Cha: 8

At level 2 I multiclassed Rogue to pick up sneak attack damage with the bow. Eventually I got some good con boosting equipment, grabbed weapon finesse, and became a combo archer/dual rapier wielding killing machine.

10, 10, 11, 10, 9, 12, 12 with 4d6b3 dropping the lowest. I dropped the nine, but ended up with crap anyway. I think I played a Cleric that game.

Back when comeliness was a stat, rolled 3d6, reroll 1s, and got 6, 6, 9, 6, 6, 6, 9.
