Myst Island [ACRO-Plot-Closed]

Remember this old game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myst)?

Well... that's what it is. The Island of Myst. With a few changes since Calublufiok got his hands on it that is. Those appearing through Calublufiok's gate will show up in the main building, where Calublufiok keeps his gate for return trips.

Something about this world prevents flying, jumping (beyond normal human jumping capabilities), teleporting, swimming, or turning incorporeal/intangible. How annoying.

"Welcome to an island paradise. Completely uninhabited... now that I took care of some ingrates anyways." Calublufiok grins at Alexis.

Didn't this become a computer game in the Mortal World? I don't really remember...

[Reinholdt]

"Yeah. I possessed a guy and programmed it myself. Course none of them knew about the virus I spread doing it, but... well... worked for me anyways."

Cal barely refrains from killing Karuka for breaking the fourth wall. He hates that and then has to patch it up with IC explanations.

The gate Outside and here shut off and reset their coordinates so it's unknown where they went or came from.

So, Boss, what's the plan?

[Reinholdt]

"Patience. You'll see when she wakes up. Also, don't touch anything." Myst puzzles have gotten a whole lot more dangerous.

"Or, if you're the impatient type, I can send you back to do whatever you will."

If so, Cal sends Karuka back to the open thread of her choice. Otherwise, Calublufiok deadtimes to wait for Alexis.

She deadtimes to wait for Alexis as well.

She pops out of deadtime to make a comment. You know, there was this girl... maybe 10, who offered to come with us. I said no, as I didn't want witnesses. They seemed to know each other...

"That's nice." It seems he doesn't care. At all.

He goes back to deadtime.

She shrugs, and has a look around.

She's stepping on the air. So as not to touch anything.

Alexis slowly wakes up and tries to get her bearings.

Hi. Like this place?

She narrows her eyes. Not really, no. Needs better decor. She says sarcastically.

Hey, I think it looks nice. No Shinigami, and little possibility of them coming. Except me, of course.

She sounds a bit bitter as she says this.

Thanks, but this is the last place I'd want to be... She remembers the White King. Okay, second to last.

Karuka's a bit disappointed that she didn't get to do a monolouge about her motivations. :smallfrown::smalltongue:

Cal would be mad if I did. He said that the island was a bit dangerous.

She rolls her eyes at her. So are you like Cal's sidekick or something?

Recently, yeah. I want revenge on a certain group.

What group? She asks, hoping it's not GLoG.

They're called the Gotei 13, and they tried to kill me 500 years ago for somthing that wasn't my fault.

Pretty much. What was the name of that girl? Not sure why I didn't bring her... residual pity? Need to get rid of that.

Her eyes go wide before narrowing in anger. She pulls hard on the sap. If you touch Misaki I swear... She growls.

Karuka swoops in. I don't hurt somone unless it serves a purpose. I have two purposes. Revenge on the Gotei 13 in general, and revenge on a certain man for foiling me. I want to see them utterly destroyed, and I want to see him know he's failed utterly, with everyone he care about dead or their lives ruined, before I kill him.

At the moment, I don't think Misaki has anything to worry about from me.

Oh, stop straining yourself. I really don't think I could break that if I tried.

She keeps glaring at her. Leave her at GLoG.

She glares in annoyance at her before hanging her head, knowing it's useless.

Karuka gets a chair. You comfortable in that thing?

OF COURSE! I knew I had forgotten somthing! I'll ask the Boss when he wakes up!

Karuka is suddenly right behind her. Good luck on that.

She tries to turn her neck to glare at her. You're insane.

She walks back in front of Alexis, and sits down.

I could help you with that and just end everything if you let me out of here. She growls.

I might take you up on that when I've had my revenge. Until then, stuff off. You'd be the one dying.

He looks over at Alexis and puts on his best showman voice. "Why my dear, don't be silly." Calublufiok flourishes, spreading wide his arms and bowing close to her. "I don't want you dead."

He looks up and his voice takes on a far more sinister voice as he leans in, face to face. "I want you to suffer."

No, I'm fine. There isn't much I need to do, and I might as well stay.

Alexis pales a significant amount along her face. Why? She barely whispers.

"Because it hurts someone else of course. Why else?" :smallconfused:

"But first..." Alexis tipped her hand earlier with his minion. Calublufiok starts magically scanning her looking for magic and/or magical objects.

The only thing he'll find is something magical in her pocket. She has no magic herself. Just that ring from Astir.

Karuka watches. So, boss, do you have any idea why the White King wanted her?

[Reinholdt]

"Hmmm... what has we got in our pockets precioussss?"

Calublufiok will magically have a small hole drilled in the sap leading to her pocket then try to levitate the ring out and to him to hold and look over.

"I thought I already said. Didn't you watch the replay? He wants to make her his Queen. More powerful than him, loyal, and very different."

I know that bit, but why her?

And it seems he does get the power levels of the King and Queen.

Alexis watches in disbelief as the ring leaves her possession. Give that back! She demands.

[Reinholdt]

"I don't why her. Perhaps this? Say... dear. Have you pissed off any liches lately?" The White King seems to have an obsession with people who insult him. AN OBSESSION.

Calublufiok simply twirls the ring in his hand.

[Kaelaroth]

What a beautiful ring.

Apparently while I was under a spell... She doesn't say when she was wearing that ring. I insulted him. Now can I have that back?

[Reinholdt]

"No. I'm no idiot. But what you will tell me is what it does."

Calublufiok snaps his fingers and threads on the borders of Alexi's mind should tug as the the compulsion tries to take affect and force her to follow his next order (symbolically of course!). "Explain this ring in as much detail as you're aware."

She has nothing to stop him and reluctantly spills. It makes me evil, strong, and almost indestructible. I can also manipulate the energy around me. I got it for marrying Astir. She hangs her head.

Now that's a reason.

[Reinholdt]

"I see. Astir..." He knows about him.

"Well then, I thank you for giving me your power my dear. It'll come in most handy." Calublufiok pockets the ring for now. He'll put it on later, you can be sure. First things first though.

"Come precious." Alexis will probably find herself magically dragged as Calublufiok takes them to the... library? :smallconfused:

Yep. It's a library. But a very small one. And a very weird one. Instead of a bunch of books and bookcases there is a single long wrap around reading podium on which several single books sit as if waiting to be opened and read standing up.

Karuka follows. Nice library.

She walks up to one of the books and has a look at it. Not touching it.

Her only chance of getting out of there, taken away. Maybe even her only chance of surviving everything if things get out of hand. She notices the odd library and barely perks her head up to look around. For now, she's silent.

It's a pretty plain looking green hardcover book. Instead of a title, it just has a name on the spine though.

Calublufiok makes no reply. Instead, he just goes to start and begins walking, looking at each in turn. He gets to one and opens it.
"Ho Ho Ho! Merry Ch-"

"Oh shut up Nick." He slams the book shut and keeps going until he finds one he likes. He purple one. "Ah. Here we go." He takes it to Alexis. "Do you know what this is?"

Karuka saunters over. This is interesting. Boss, can I make a guess of a prison of some sort?

[SeptAngel]

She shakes her head. Her guess is as good as mine...

[Reinholdt]

"Her guess is good enough. It's an interesting unique little prison. It transports you to what I call a cell world. A world that exists only within the book and can only be left via the book. There's two tricks. First, one can only release the current occupant by replacing them with another sentient being. So someone is always trapped. Second, the book will not allow a switch to occur if all the pages are not in it."

Calublufiok calls out. "Poggle! Come!"

A small goblin opens a door and scurries over, kneeling. "Yes master. What do you require of me master?"

"Go retrieve the page for this book."

"Right away master." Poggle scurries off as quickly as he came.

[SeptAngel]

A tear falls from her eye. So you're going to lock me away? It's more of a statement than question.

[horngeek]

Karuka watches. Well, at least you'll have company-

wait. No, you won't. Sorry, my bad.

[Reinholdt]

"Yes my precious. But look at it this way. You'll still be able to talk to your friends once I give the book to them, even if you can never touch them again. Or hold them."

He holds up a finger. "But... I am a reasonable psychopath, and if GLoG does what I ask of them, the pages shall be given to them and they may release you as they see fit."

Poggle returns with the page. Calublufiok opens the book and Poggle gently puts the page in. "Now go get the partner book's page please." Calublufiok turns the book he's holding to look at it. A hissing sound can be heard from it before words are spoken. "Calublufiok. To what do I owe the displeasure?"

Calublufiok cackles. "Your sentence is up. I'm letting you go Tabitha."

[horngeek]

Karuka shakes her head. Boss, that is...

can I take lessons now?

Alexis is silently crying in her sap. Alex, Falgorn, Quinn, Misaki, she won't be able to hold any of them ever again. Broken hearted, she simply waits to be transferred. I think I would have preferred the king... She mumbles.

[Reinholdt]

"You can consider this a lesson."

He hollows out the sap again, this time so her hand and wrist have space and can move and rotate.

"There is no greater pain than being so close... yet so far from the ones you love."

He puts the book up to her and magically tries to make her touch the inside page with the palm of her hand. One of the last things she'll likely see before getting sucked in (sans sap finally) is a cute looking platinum colored Burmese cat.

...y'know, I've had an idea, but I'll tell you afterwards.

She doesn't put up any fight as her palm touches the paper. Once in the book, she collapses having been used to the sap keeping her upright. Rubbing her eyes, she looks up and around.

[Reinholdt]

It is indeed a small world. You could probably walk around it in a week. Looks like it has enough canned food to sustain a person for several lifetimes, and a few openers. There's a river nearby too.

It seems devoid of any but plant life. If she looks down, she can see a portal. That's what she can see and talk through.

Other than this the place is pretty much empty.

There is now a small Burmese cat in the room. It immediately shifts into a snow leopardess and flings itself at Calublufiok. "I'LL KILL YOU!!" It stops midflight and gets flung painfully into the wall.

"Oh quiet betrayer." Calublufiok rips 7 pages out of the book, careful to not switch himself. This causes there to be occasional static when Alexis talks to people, but shouldn't interfere much unless the player wishes for comical misunderstanding of statements she makes.

"Speak your idea Kid."

Guy I want revenge on. I might send people he cares about into one of these.

Then burn it while he's watching.

Alexis lays down near the portal, listening to the others. I miss Alex... She whispers to herself.

[Reinholdt]

Cal puts the book down for now, not yet responding to Karuka.

He does hand Karuka one of the pages. "You keep one. I'll keep one. I'll hide the other five here."

Poggle returns with a page. Calublufiok takes a different book, puts the page in and holds it out to Poggle. Poggle winces. "Oh come now Poggle. It's temporary. I'll snatch a random bum off the streets to switch with you." Poggle nods and places his palm on the book before getting sucked in, a Calico-Russian blue cat mix appearing in his place and rapidly changing into a regular leopard, and like the last, being slammed into a wall across the room, falling next to Tabitha.

"Vygor?"
"Tabitha?"
"Idiots."

Cal rips a page out and puts the book back.

She takes it

I though you said you'd give the pages to GLoG.

[SeptAngel]

Alexis is just curled up in the book, helpless. But she's cute while doing it.

[Reinholdt]

"After they do my very simple request, remember?"

Calublufiok looks at the two cats. "You two remember your hatred for Reinholdt? Good. He's alive and kicking." The two start hissing. It's clear this makes them unhappy. "You'll mentally screw him up big time when you show up at his doorstep. Which you will do if you don't want me to hunt you down and put you back in. Capiche?" The two nod and glare, obviously hating Cal just as much if not more than Reinholdt. "Good."

"Come." He grabs Alexi's book and heads back towards the gate to open it. Alexi may want to take note of the co-ordinates right now since she can still see and they may come in handy later.

Tabitha and Vygor get kicked into the portal and Calublufiok waits for Karuka to enter.

Karuka comes.

Alexis does look at her surroundings, this place did hold some of her pages after all. Remembering might be important.

[Reinholdt]

Good. Then if the group decides to go questing here for the pages to get Alexis out instead, then they'll be able to use her knowledge to get here.

And off they all go.

Back to Outside.

The ring, wherever it may be, shrivels to dust. Beautiful dust, but common dust, all the same. Not even world-forging dust.

A shimmering portal opens from GLoG, and Ryuan steps through.

Alex, carrying Alexis' book under one arm, follows.


Quinn and Misaki step through a minute later.

Corentin Apollinaire and hopefully Vidalia also step through.

Misaki is holding Quinn's hand for now.

Alexis goes wherever the book goes.

Ryuan looks around. Well, this looks interesting.

Alex steps off to the side, and carefully holds the book, looking at Alexis.

He'll see her sitting next to the river that runs through. She looks over to him and gives a small smile. Hey.

Alex smiles back, just the smallest bit. Hey, yourself. I wish I was there with you right now.

[SeptAngel]

She shakes her head. No you don't. This place is horrid. I wish I was out there with you.

[horngeek]

Ryuan looks at the book. Did Cal say how you'd get out of there when we had all the pages?

[SeptAngel]

She hangs her head. I can only come out if someone takes my place.

[The Bushranger]

We'll be together again, I promise. Alex whispers. Maybe we could lock away a criminal or something...

A Devil, maybe?

Just a thought, but a fiend would be the best option. An Evil one, however.

Because Ryuan actually met a Succubus who was a Paladin once.

Long story.

They just have to put their palm flat on the pages. She explains.

But that assumes that all the pages are in. If they aren't, I assume nothing happens. Also, we're getting static on this end, would you know about that?

[SeptAngel]

Right. You have to put all the pages back before the switch can happen. She shrugs. I guess cause he took too many pages out.

Alex nods, listening. Just hang in there, milady. And I won't let you be alone.

Interesting... was this Cablufiok's invention, or somone else's?

Thanks for being my knight. She smiles to Alex before shrugging to Ryaun. I'm not sure. I don't think it's his.

He pulls out one of his various rods and passes it over the book. Interesting... it's magical, obviously, but not the sort I use...

seems to have more in common with the sort of magic Truenamers use, where you make somthing happen by describing it.

But this... can you give me a description of what's in there?

He then slips into semi-deadtime/follow-the-group mode as his player has to leave in a few minutes.

She gives the best description she can before deadtiming as well. Obviously, she goes wherever they cart the book.

Ryuan pulls out a book and starts scribbling stuff in Draconic down in it.

It looks like truenaming, but it's far too complicated for that. Truenaming shouldn't be able to create that, unless you wrote down the truenaming...

He takes a look at the panel, and then at the writing.

Then, he goes into study/waiting mode.

You'll probably need someone else's notes or to actually dissect the book to truly understand how it works beyond some of the basics I'd imagine.

Inside this main room is the stargate Calublufiok uses and your ticket home. Unless you go and blow it up for some reason. To the left of it is a door, to the right of it is a door, and behind it is a door.

Opposite of it is the pillared, open entranceway, much like roman buildings of old. You can see a path branching to the left and right of the building and straight ahead. What appears to be a sundial of some sort is in the middle of the path straight ahead. The path continues past it, but trees block the view further.

Otherwise it appears to be a nice, big, open, and mostly empty, room.

Alexis undeadtimes inside the book and tries to look around through the portal.

Alex shugs off that nasty deadtime ooze as well, and looks around at the others.

Misaki holds Quinn's hand as she waits.

Corentin is polishing one of his pistols idly.

Quinn gives Misaki's hand a gentle squeeze.
Are you going to be OK, sweetie?

Misaki looks up at Quinn and nods. "So long as we save Alexis and Scarlet and Irene."

[SeptAngel]

Alexis hears that and smiles.

[horngeek]

Right. We should get started. Stay back.

Ryuan casts some protective spells, then investigates the sundial.

Quinn nods. We'll save them all, sweetie.
She steps back as the sundial is investigated.

Alex smiles a little, himself, and looks at Alexis fondly.

Alexis blushes at the way he looks to her before giving a soft wave.

[The Bushranger]

Alex lifts a hand to wave back. You alright in there, milady?

[SeptAngel]

As good as I can be, I guess. She shrugs but smiles to him.

Alex nods. We'll get this fixed as soon as we can.
He seems quite cheered by the smile, and looks like he wants to say more, but doesn't.


Quinn, meanwhile, watches Ryuan's investigations with interest.

I know I'm in good loving hands. She puts a little emphasis on 'loving' and her smile gets a bit bigger.

Alex's cheeks turns a bit pink at that, and, lost for words, he can only nod and smile affirmatively.

She smiles and shyly looks to a rock in front of her to move it around.

[Reinholdt]

Oh my. That seems to be an interesting sundial. Seems to be patterned with lots of small... glass or something. And it looks like you can rotate it too.

And since everyone appears to have left the main building to investigate the sundial first, they can see various other places too.

Like the cabin that's near a huge redwood tree further ahead. Or that clocktower sitting in the middle of the ocean past that.

Turning around to face the main building they were just in, there's some docks to the right with an old fashioned wooden ship. Just to the left of that, but still to the right are stairs leading up to a giant cog.

Behind the main building and up a bit appears to be a tower of some sort.

And to the left is a rocketship.

Edit: The sundial is currently saying it's 12:00 o'clock. That doesn't seem right.

Corentin frowns a bit as he looks around. "This place is quite large. Finding 5 pieces of paper may prove difficult."

Misaki slips her hand out of Quinn's and goes over to the sundial. "What's this for?"

[The Bushranger]

Alex, very carefully, steps over to investigate the rocketship.

((Alas, dinner approaching very fast))

[Reinholdt]

Alex wanders away from the rest of the group to investigate the rocketship!
Alex is eaten by a grue.

Careful now. These places aren't next to each other. You can see, but you must travel.

Luckily for Alex nothing happens to him. There is a walkway leading up to a door in the side of the rocketship and a mirror on a stand next to the door. Looks like you can turn the mirror every which way.

Corentin moves to follow and accompany Alex.

Misaki continues to look at the sundial curiously. She tries to move it to say 11:00 o' clock.

It moves! And when Misaki stops it clicks in place.

It starts lighting up. How beautiful.

Misaki is torn between a desire to back away from the strange glowing sundial and a desire to stare at it in awe. She does scamper back to Quinn, though. This place is strange. And scary!

Corentin approaches the walkway leading to the rocketship door.

[Reinholdt]

Hiding behind Quinn may help. When all those light points gather and shoot out a concentrated beam of heat and light designed to cause great damage to living (and unliving) creatures. Especially since it's aimed at Misaki.

The walkway appears to be a normal walkway leading from one rock precipice to the other rock precipice in which the rocketship sits, door waiting.

Corentin puts out a foot onto the walkway, trying to test how strong and sturdy it is.

Poor Quinn is always getting hurt.

The walkway is pretty sturdy. Unless you're dragon sized or something. Corentin should be fine. From the looks of things.

Corentin considers the walkway, before settling in to wait for someone else to undeadtime. He's not crossing that without a harness to catch him if the thing gives way, and he needs a second person for that.

And Quinn gets blasted backwards!

Probably landing in a heap on top of Misaki.

Alex, at the base of the walkway, spins around in startlement.

"Quinn! Q-quinn, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to! I..." Misaki tries to worm her way out from underneath Quinn.

Corentin follows Alex's look.

Quinn has a rather nasty burn on her stomach. Good thing it didn't hit higher, might have caused heart problems.

Woulda made her indecent, too.


No, it's...it's OK... she gasps, going to roll off of Misaki - and gasping in pain, curling up.


Alex, unsure what to do, has 'fight or flight' come up 'freeze'. :smalltongue:

Crying, Misaki tries to hold Quinn in a comforting way that won't hurt her.

Corentin glances at Alex and sighs before jogging over to help.

Help her. She says to Alex from the book.

Alex snaps out of it at Alexis' words, and starts heading back. How? I'm not a healer...



Who heals the healer?
Quinn winces again, but hugs Misaki back as best she can with one arm, while trying to Lay On Hands with the other.

Just let her know a friend is there for her. She says encouragingly.

Misaki is still crying. "I'm so sorry.. I never want to hurt you, Quinn..."

Corentin arrives on the scene. "This island will not prove amusing."

Alex nods, and kneels next to Quinn and Misaki.
Giving Corentin a 'ya think?' look.

Quinn still tries healing, and sitting up.
It's OK, sweetie...you didn't know....ow...

Alexis helplessly watches.

Misaki tries to support Quinn as she sits up.

Corentin examines the sundial from a distance.

Calublufiok respectfully disagrees with Corentin.

Healing causes Quinn to implode violently.
Quinn is lucky to be alive, but can heal.

The sundial is now at 11:00 o'clock and is sitting there not doing a thing. Not lit up either.

And Quinn will take a few minutes quietly sitting and trying to recover. And trying to comfort Misaki.

Alex decides it was probably a good thing he didn't touch the rocket ship.

Misaki rubs at her eyes and tries to stop crying, trying to be a brave girl.

Corentin tries to see if anything else changed when the sundial was moved.

Alexis watches everything sadly inside the book.

Nothing visible has appeared to have changed with the sundial. Don't you hate that?

Corentin doesn't actually. Oddly. He feels rather mellow about the whole thing.

Misaki sits next to Quinn, feeling terrible.

Quinn holds Misaki as tightly as she can.

Alex sighs and joins in contemplation of the DHD sundial.

Alex feels one step closer to enlightenment as waves of peace and calm wash over him, similar to what one would experience when contemplating their navel.

That or gets frustrated by the lack of information the sundial is giving him. So far you know that it appears to be able to be rotated to any time.

And can shoot out high powered laser beams apparently.

Ryuan casts spells that protect against frickin laser beams, then tries to turn the sundial to 10:00.

And then casts a shield.

Let's see what this does.

So he... casts something, moves dial, casts something else, while getting shot at?

Well then I suppose the beam of heat and light hit the shield at just the right moment and scatter every which way, putting everyone in danger instead of just him, including a few trees which burst into flame.

The sundial is now at 10 o'clock.

Misaki gets down just in the nick of time, letting out a loud whimper as she hits the dirt.

Corentin was already tensed and dodges the beam.

The randomly scattered beam misses. Unless you count those trees on fire. Fortunately it looks like it won't spread.

The sundial is still and quiet.

I really think we can agree - don't touch the sundial.
The sarcasm is strong in this one as Alex slowly stands up.

Quinn hurriedly checks Misaki. Are you OK?

"I second the motion." Corentin stands to dust himself off.

Misaki sits up. She scraped one of her knees a bit. "I'm okay."

Alexis watches from the book, giving a sigh of relief when she sees no one gets hurt this time.

Quinn gives Misaki a very tight hug.

Alex sighs and, shaking his head, gives Alexis an apologetic look. Seems he covered the book with his body to protect it when he dropped...

She looks to him with a reassuring smile. Thanks for being my protector.

Corentin regards the sun dial quizzically. "Is it just a trap, or are we missing something?" He isn't about to touch it, though.

Misaki hugs Quinn tightly back.

Corentin goes over to Alex. "Let us examine that strange vessel. I need you to secure a safety line for me, in case the walkway proves treacherous."

Alex smiles back at Alexis, his cheeks a little pink. It's the least I can do for you...
He looks up as Corentin approaches. Hopefully it's not booby-trapped like the sundial is, he observes in a dry tone. But I guess I can do that, yeah.

Quinn settles back, and looks around their surroundings with a sigh.

Corentin beckons Alex to follow, then produces some rope. "Find something sturdy to secure this to." Once the rope is secured, Corentin will walk out onto the walkway with the rope fastened to him as an impromptu safety line.

Alexis watches from the book, looking worried.

Quinn's surroundings are the same as before. One Main building with three doors and a stargate copyrighted Calublufiok gate. One sundial. One clocktower off in the distance. One cabin near a large redwood tree. One spaceship being investigated. One docks with one wooden ship. One giant cog at the top of some stairs. And one tower behind the Main building that appears to be inaccessible from here. Details are harder to make out of any of the places without approaching and investigating.

Like Corentin is doing now. The walkway holds fine. He reaches the door of the spaceship. It has a door handle like any other door and is closed. There is a mirror that he can reach from here and manipulate and rotate if he wishes.

And deadtime for a bit.

Corentin considers the door, and then the mirror. "Alex! I'm going to test out the mirror. Tell everyone to find somewhere safe to be."

Quinn ponders the clocktower as she keeps an arm around Misaki.


Alex nods to Corentin. Prepare for investigation! he yells to the others, making sure he's between the book and the mirror...

After everyone is ready, Corentin tries to swivel the mirror so that it is pointing at an unimportant piece of ground, making sure that its path doesn't cross anything important, in case it suddenly becomes a laser or something.

Misaki is looking down at the ground, quite cowed by her error with the sundial.

Quinn gently brushes Misaki's hair, trying to be as comforting as she can.

The mirror swivels. And catches a bit of sunlight, which is reflected at the ground, but the beam is pretty weak. And rather uninteresting.

No harmful things occur.

Corentin frowns, and then tests pointing the mirror at various things. The clocktower. The other tower. The sundial.

[Reinholdt]

Interesting because those three things and the main building are the most visible things one can see from here!

The clocktower is shined on. There is a dot of light there. Nothing seems to happen.

The other tower is shined on, the dome-like roof has a dot of light there. Nothing seems to happen.

The sundial is shined on. The dot of light kinda ricochets a little, but otherwise, nothing seems to happen.

Corentin tries to see where the light is ricocheting to off of the sundial.

It's kinda random actually due to all those little mirror things that help gather light to create the IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZOR effect. The slightest tilt of the mirror he's at ricochets it somewhere else.

Alex remains ready to dive for cover at a moment's notice...

Quinn keeps trying to reassure Misaki.

Misaki isn't going to be easily cheered up. She hurt Quinn! That's almost unforgivable...

"It seems to be nothing more than an ordinary mirror." Corentin frowned. "I'm going to examine the ship."

[Reinholdt]

It looks like... a toy rocketship that's sitting on its side. Even has that antenna at the tip which is probably purposeless.

It's kinda undistinctive actually and would fail miserably at being a real rocketship most likely. I mean I wouldn't try to fly it anyways.

Be careful, Alex admonishes, probably unnecessarily.

Corentin tries the door. Cautiously.

Misaki looks into Quinn's eyes, still feeling guilty.

The door handle doesn't seem to budge. It appears to be locked. But there's no keyhole!

What there is, is a very sharp needle that pops out when Corentin tries to open the door and attempts to jab him in the wrist, preferably painfully and with some bleeding.

Corentin was already stepping back when the door was refusing to open. He doesn't avoid getting pricked, but the needles only just catches him, and the wound is shallower and lighter than it normally would be.

Still, he isn't taking chances. He's trooping over in Quinn's direction right now. "Madam Quinn. I need your assistance."

Alexis watches everything from the book. Check that for poison. She suggests.

Quinn looks back into Misaki's eyes, brushing her hair back and smiling. I know you didn't mean to hurt me, sweetie. And I forgive you. I'm okay and you're okay and that's all that matters.

Corentin isn't okay though!
Quinn looks up and over in startlement.
What happened? Alex beats her to asking.

Indeed, he'll likely feel woozy and ready to fall over in 3... 2...

Corentin stops walking and tries to minimize his movement. "Poison, it seems. Quickly, Madam Quinn."

Misaki will probably feel better when she does something to contribute to the group. Until then, she'll probably remain a bit forlorn.

Ryuan thinks. I think we're supposed to reflect the beams off this sundial with the mirror or somthing.

Quinn quickly excuses herself and rushes over to Corentin. I don't have any spells for curing poison...
She does cast Detect Poison, though. That is, thankfully a first-level paladin spell, and, thus, is one she does have. :smalltongue:
She also rummages in her pack, seeking a potion...



Is everything here booby-trapped? Alex asks with a sigh.

At least... not in a way that Corentin set off anyways.

Alex looks gently at Alexis, and shakes his head. I made a vow to help you, Alexis. I'm not going to abandon that just because things aren't safe.

She had to give it a try even though she knows it was useless. Nodding slowly, she looks up to his eyes. Just be careful.

Corentin will be shaky for a minute or two, but fine.

Corentin rested for a moment or two, sighing. "We are not off to a good start so far."

Alex looks back into her eyes, nodding, his own gaze showing a promise. I will.

Quinn leans back and sighs. I'll have to agree with you there...

Listen, if we can alter the mirror so that the beams from the sundial hit a particular spot... that might do something.
