Also, good to know it's considered attractive!

Very much so.

In fact, from what I understand in the olden days men actually preferred paleness/fairness. Supposedly it was a sign that the girl/woman was most likely wealthy, since she was never outside working in the sun. Something about said woman's health as well I believe.

Now the paradigm has shifted to being tanned for many people (but not all by far!). This is something I do not understand myself, since my race has a natural full-time tan and it hasn't done squat for me. :smallannoyed:

p.s. Hmm. I wonder what the kid would look like if I married a Scottish redhead.

Hey, I'm pale like that(and more) the entire year, so shut up! :smalltongue:

Like the tattoo and the sentiment :smallwink: Keep on rocking... or tattooing, as the case may be

Haha, thanks mate. I've been using it as my motto for the past few years. It actually helps a cynical person with trust issues like myself... well, actually do some good in the world.

I'm stoked to have finally gotten the tat, but I'm hesitant to go to bed, lol. I'm not particularly sure if I'm allowed to sleep on it, I forgot to ask, haha.

From what I remember of tattoo care: try not to put pressure on it, it will hurt. What are you using for aftercare? Bloke's tattoo artist recommended nappy rash cream to speed up the healing process. It worked, too.

Yep. I have a quote to that effect buried somewhere.

For those curious to compare, I have two decent pictures of my old hair-- one of me as a small child and one from two or three years ago.

http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v75/23/78/1378710262/n1378710262_30045488_3300.jpg

As Boo said, the red hair looks much better with my fair skin!

Why does the picture of you of a small child have a date stamp of 2007? Do you live in some alternate timeflow where 2 years lets you go from being a little kid to 18ish? (or is it just that someone doesn't know how to set the date on their camera...)

The hair of you as a child looks a lot darker then the later one. A brown I think would work too. I like red hair, but I don't really care for artificial red hair, since it is usually pretty clear that it is.
The hair in your second picture looks fine to me too, but its hard to really give them a good comparison when one picture is just random and the other has you all dressed up.

I think you would look good with whatever you decided to do with your hair (well short of shaving it off). I'm also fond of fair skin.

I don't have a scanner, so I had to take a picture of the picture so I could save it on my computer. Confusing, I know, haha. And I've actually had people be really stunned that red isn't my natural color-- people just tell me it looks more natural dyed.

I am Canadian, as is one of my best friends. Okay, all of them are, but I'm talking about one in particular. I despise ketchup myself, but his views are...different. For 8 years, macaroni and cheese with ketchup was his lunch at school. Every damn day. 8 years. Yeah.

We're past that time, but that's not to say he never eats it. It's definitely one of his main foods. He doesn't have the most varied diet, to be sure. :smalltongue:

Fill pot with water. Put pot on stove. Turn stove on. Do stuff. Check after every 5-7 minutes to see if it's boiling. If it is, proceed to step two - put in the macaroni. Turn heat down a bit. Check back in 5-7 minutes to see if they're soft enough for your tastes.

This coming from a boy who cooks... never.

Its not me...I guess it doesn't really fit in a YOU thead, but it was so funny and I had my camera with my and everything. It was on a trailer, and is probably a warning not to attach 2 trailers together, but it also serves as a hillarious warning to keep dogs and teenage boys away as well!

I don't make the noodles and cheese, of course. But it just sounded like she implied that people would buy it in a TV dinner package.
I mean, it's so easy to cook, you could just cook it yourself and make it taste omnom.

I could do noodles fine, but it's impossible to duplicate the powdered cheese substitute thing they use. Normally I would say "great!" and just use sprinkled grated cheese and some milk, but I have a cheese allergy. Which the powdered stuff, being strange and not-like-cheese, doesn't affect. Thus, I am forced to make it from a box.

But not the TV dinner package kind. Yuck ew gross.

The only gaming store in Armidale is also a hobby store that sells paint and the like, so I guess it's not such a big deal for girls to go into that one... Although the owner was very condescending when I asked about dice. "They're sets of dice, with d20s and d8s, not just ordinary six-sided dice."
I've been in there many times, bought - and ordered! - several D&D books from you, and even had a brief conversation with you about why I'm not interested in 4th edition. What on Earth would make you think I'm not after those sets of dice? :smallconfused:

Soooo, GitPeoples.

My hair is purty long. 20 inches or thereabouts when pulled straight, several inches shorter in its natural state (that rhymed!).

It's difficult to get a picture, but:

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t3/soggypoptart/100_7950.jpg
(the sweatshirt is my grandma's. :smalltongue:)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t3/soggypoptart/100_7954.jpg
(the layers don't usually look that choppy)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t3/soggypoptart/100_7613.jpg

...and I'm toying with the notion of cutting it off. Last time I had it short (2006), it was a pretty standard bob

Enjoy these pictures, by the way, because it took me half an hour of trolling through albums to find them. Apparently at some point I had a vendetta against that period of my life and deleted any decent photographic evidence of it.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t3/soggypoptart/fishystatue.jpg
Bad eyebrows and a baby face. >.< buhbuhbuhno. Also I parted my hair on the opposite side.

It was a boring haircut and if I cut it again I'll probably go for something more like this (http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlpix/view/4573/__scurlpix__sindex__s__qsearch_text=__aGallery%5B% 5D=62__aLength%5B%5D=42__aLength%5B%5D=41__aCurl_T ypes%5B%5D=29__aCurl_Types%5B%5D=13__aStyle%5B%5D= 65__ax=42__ay=13) or this (http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlpix/view/2621/__scurlpix__sindex__s__qsearch_text=__aGallery%5B% 5D=62__aLength%5B%5D=42__aLength%5B%5D=41__aCurl_T ypes%5B%5D=29__aCurl_Types%5B%5D=13__aStyle%5B%5D= 65__ax=42__ay=13__apage=3). With a lot of layer, in other words.

I LIKE having long hair, but I go through literally a bottle of conditioner a week, and also it's to the point where it's too heavy to wear up. Whether or not I cut it, I'm giving it another three months, because in November it will have been three years since I got the boring bob (above). I'd do the locks of love thing and . . .

Anyway, the point is:

Should I cut it?

Deary: Well, if you cut it, how short are you going to go?

Because, y'know, there are crucial differences between going shoulder length, ear length, neck length, and just getting enough off that you can wear it up again.

Also, y'know, it's understandable that you still have a baby face, you are still but a babe anyway. Though I am starting to wonder about your photo-taking...technique...

Edit: Hmm... Long hair or bob. Long hair or bob. Um... Are you sure we can't just opt for Deary getting a trim?

I LIKE having long hair, but I go through literally a bottle of conditioner a week, and also it's to the point where it's too heavy to wear up. Whether or not I cut it, I'm giving it another three months, because in November it will have been three years since I got the boring bob (above). I'd do the locks of love thing and . . .

Anyway, the point is:

Should I cut it?

Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

As someone who loves long hair, and the rare extremely long hair girl, don't do it!

Plus, you really do look much better with it long. And lots of guys (including myself) are kinda turned-off by short haired girls. Nothing like a girl with beautiful long flowing hair to bring a smile to your face.

(Perhaps this is the case for me, due to my long history of loving fantasy?)

Whose Eyebrows?

Deary: 1. ...I'm going to look at those two pictures again, but I'm having a hard time telling the two bobs apart.

2.
Edit: Hmm... Long hair or bob. Long hair or bob. Um... Are you sure we can't just opt for Deary getting a trim?

Or maybe a photograph which actually shows how your hair looks now with your usual clothing so we have some references other than closeupshots....

I mean, as far as preferences go for women, I could go either way, really. I know some girls with shorter hair that is curly and I know some girls that keep their curly hair longer. It's about equally attractive to me as long as it suits 'em. Some people are just not suited to certain looks though.

I'm not sure how your baby face would mesh with a bob like that, though it does seem to have elongated some and developed some finer detail over the last three years as well. In the end, I'd say I'm-a have to wait for additional photographic reference.

It's pretty hard to think of you in a sexual light anyway due to the face and image you present, so we might be biased around here as well in favor of an idea of innocence that may or may not have as strong a basis in your actual existence.

Phaedra: I'm just annoyed because I can't really read off how it would look from other angles from the two reference photos. As far as I can tell, the second one has a bit more bang/side close in to the face and the first has it less on the face and more down over the ears. Which is probably interpreting it wrong since I don't really know how to read...hairstyles

Deary: Though I am inclined to agree that, hey, if you feel like having a change, then change it. My ex had hair past her shoulderblades and then she cut it really short and that was an interesting and novel change that sort of added an extra spark and pizazz to ...things... for awhile there. So, yeah. Might attract some attention you actually want. :smalltongue:

I personally wouldn't want to cut it if it were that long. =P

Don't cut it as short as the hairstyles you've linked. Shoulderlength, or slightly longer than that would suit you much better.

@Dragonrider: Personally I don't think most women with short hair look as good as they do with at least shoulder length hair.

I really didn't like either of the possible cuts you had linked to.

I think you could go a lot shorter and fix some of your issues without going that short. The older pictures of you with short hair still look good, I just don't think they look as good.

Coidzor
2009-08-17, 04:43 PM
I'd say if you do go short, try to stay below the half-way mark of your neck, preferably the first quarter mark.

Don't think curly hair with your level of curl does very well in feminine styles (or really many masculine styles for that matter) when it gets much shorter than that. If I'm remembering my lore correctly anyway.

Pyrian
2009-08-17, 05:02 PM
Kara! Where've you been hiding for so long? Good to see you here again. :smallcool:

SweetRee, trim it if you must, but don't bob it with any of those styles. Your face is round enough as is without accentuating the effect. Anything less than shoulder length is, well, less flattering than it could be.

Dragonrider
2009-08-17, 05:10 PM
Hmmm.

My face has changed substantially since I was fifteen (looking back through what pictures I have made me realize just how much!). Also, my hair is much healthier and therefore has more volume and curl. It's therefore hard to judge.

Pros to cut:
I'd go through a bottle of conditioner a month instead of a week;
Much, much lighter - my hair's really thick and a ponytail has about a 6" circumference, which is a lot of weight;
My hair grows really fast so if I hate it I won't have to handle it for long, ha ha

Cons:
Apparently many guys like long hair? :smalltongue:;
I like long hair, it's just a bear to handle;
I'm not actually sure how the curl will react to a shorter length - it could go crazy curly because it's not being pulled down, but it could also not have enough length to curl the way it wants

I don't think I want to do shoulder-length because I hate having hair that length: whenever I do my mind goes in to one of two modes: Growgrowgrow faster! or let's chop it because I can't stand this!

In any case, even if I do decide to cut it I'm giving myself three months.

And it's SO HARD to find decent curly hairstyle pictures! :smalltongue:

Also, eyebrows are a bit thick and probably shouldn't have that much attention placed upon them. Shouldn't really call attention to eyebrows even if they're pencil thin either. ... Eyebrows are annoying, actually. they're only good if they're not noticed but you can't get rid of them because that makes their absence felt and very noticeable. argh.

It is ok, Slayer. We still love you. Well, I don't, but that's mostly out of courtesy, since I think you would find that rather annoying and unpleasant. It is all a-ok though. Especially since it wasn't that sexual say it in the first place. More of an unintended double entendre than a freudian slip. Unless it was a freudian slip.

I'm gonna have to come out and say it though. ...You look a lot better without the wig, Kara.

Since your target audience doesn't know the difference though, I don't think they'll feel the difference.

And yes, you are quite attractive, Miss Kara Kuro. I don't think I can really say more than that.

As for the poses/pictures, I would say that I prefer the second one, since you're putting your hips into it. Also gives us a better view of you, since any butt you'd be showing off in the first pose is at least muted by the sarong and the second just seems to do a better job of what the first was doing anyway. Also, the photo quality itself came out better.

...I probably would have preferred to have you beside the sign with more hip in it than the angle which the photograph is at relative to you and the sign, mostly to better show off your sarong.

Why isn't anyone laughing at my sarong puns! Well fine! That's saright! I'll just laugh at them enough for everyone else! Ahaahahaha ha. ha.. ha...

So alone...
I was actually too busy facepalming and getting the neosporin for all the pun damage you were causing me to laugh. My responses were flattened by the PAIN.

:smalleek: Suddenly I feel like a very old, slightly dirty man. :smalleek:

DragonRider - as a guy who adores long, curly hair, I will shed a silent and manly tear for your shorn locks. But do what's comfortable for you. As others have said, while your hair is quite the asset, your face is even more so.

Kara Kuto - It's a great look either way, but I vote for the second one.

DragonRider: I am a bit biased (who isn't?) but I really prefer shorter hair styles on women. So I would say go for the shorter cut if you want to. And if you don't like it, you can always just let it grow out again.

Kara: They both are great, but I too will have to put my vote in for the second one.

Kara: Gotta agree with almost everyone on saying the second one. Both are good, the second one slightly better.

Dragon: Think you would look good with short hair too. Short of getting rid of all of it, I don't think you could do too bad. :smallwink:

^: Sorry, someone stole the limelight. Also, I got hit by sarong puns all last summer so I'm a bit desensitized. *hug* Sorry.

Sans the wig? Which hairstyle are you talking about? I've been going through them quite frequently over the summer.

Well, I thought the middling-length light brown hair was natural the last time you posted the cosplay costume in progress on here. Selkie, I believe 'twas.

...I might just be biased towards it due to the way it covers up part of your face though. :smalltongue:

K. These are the two that turned out the best, which pose likes you guys better?
I'll reiterate that the second looks better. It accents your curves more properly. It's also in better focus.

(Did I mention I am a faces guy? I know, a bit strange that I would rather stare at a girl's pretty face [like yours] rather than a bit lower my male friends tend to tell me...)
Not that strange at all, actually.

Thing about chainmail is that it's made up of a series of rings and there are gaps between those rings. From a distance, it can look like a solid sheet, but up close, you can see the holes and gaze through it.

Also, there is a thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122001) I made for it in the arts and craft section.

Yeah, I tried to craft it more like a fedora, but chainmails A LOT heavier that fabric so certain properties of the hat had to be altered.

:smallfrown: I don't think I have time to grow it another inch. I have to get it cut in at most two months time. I'll probably cut it sooner though so that I don't look like a total dork with tons of pale white skin where my hair used to cover.

Indecently, I looked through all the other 'Blond Kara' pictures and I couldn't find another where there wasn't hair over my face... lawl. Nope, I'm on a last gen 18" mac laptop and the keyboard's just fine for my snausage fingers.

Because to be honest, the ones you've posted to devART, not really erotic...

Yeah, making silly faces is one of my many talents. Along with...uh...something like...um...well, I'm really good at...erm...

...well, I'll get back to you on that one. :P

And thanks. I was just wondering if I should cut it because:

a) I've never had my hair much longer than this before...although it's kind of hard to tell how long my hair really is because of the curls. It doesn't really grow that long, but it doesn't really grow that far out (i.e. a full jewfro) either, so after a certain length, it kind of seems to stop changing.

b) I've never had short hair for a period longer than a week, and I'm considering it. Because change is good. Hopefully.

Awesome! I keep moving my head and being startled because it's so easy. What was really weird was styling it after I got out of the shower...I don't do much with it anyway, but it took about a tablespoon of conditioner and a tiny bit of gel, as opposed to twelve times that for when it was long. :smallwink:
