I seriously saw this ad in a Video Buyers Guide, basically a catelog for video stores to order movies.

"Val Kilmer is Moses in 'The Ten Commandments: The Musical'"

I laughed for like 5 minutes when I saw this. If it was in any other magazine, I would have been sure it wasn't real. Pretty much no one else I've told so far has believed me at first. It's just too ridiculous. Snakes on a Plane (though awesome) makes more sense than this.

Yet another sign of the impending Apocalypse...

You mean Hoffpocalypse, given that David Hasslehoff is the first horseman.

Makes sense to me. Kilmer's done quite a few biblical epics for church mail-order companies; a lot of middling-big name actors do. The roles are memorable but easily played, the risk of critical backlash non-existent (who disses straight-to-video Bible stories?) and the fees are huge for the work involved.

Think of the target markets for musicals. Compare with those for bible stories. Note the crossover? That's why we have things like "Joseph", "JC Superstar" and "Godspell".

But, he already sang/played Moses AND God in Prince of Egypt (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120794/).

This isn't new territory for him.
