let the horror begin

Every member of the group has come to the castle for their own individual reasons, as each of you approached the gates, you could feel the twinge of magic around you. The gates open and allow you entry. As soon as you enter you feel a burning sensation all over your body. You awaken to find yourselves chained to a wall inside the foyer. A strong voiced figure speaks *who are you, what are you doing here?*

Christian is hauled in for his usual interrogation as well.

Tymio, a beatifull young woman with dark blue hair and wearing a polished chainshirt over a set of carefully arranged blue and black clothes, slowly wakes up and moves her head up, trying to look around. Upon hearing the voice, she answers in a sweet innocent tone:

I-I'm just a passer by, looking for a place to pass the night. Please don't hurt me mister, I'm not a thief or anything like that!


What do I see in the room?

You see 4 armed guards, each armed with blades. You see several people chained up next to you, and the stone your standing on is a slight gray color. There are 3 doors leading off from here, excluding the one you came in. Although you can see the remnants of a blood stain n one corner.

The young man with short black hair looks around warily. Tugging experimentally at the chains, he looks over at the man after he speaks. "Then let us go at least, if you mean us no harm."

Tymio puts her best vulnerable face and, figning like she's in severe pain, keeps speacking to the guards in her sweet inocent voice:

Well, can't at you least take those chains off me? They're too tight and heavy, they're hurting me! I'll sit down and behave nicely untill the warden comes. I'm just a lonely girl after all, I couldn't do anything against all four of you strong guys...

The unassuming looking albino woman with hair to her shoulders, wakes up screaming. Shut up!! Its too loud Looking around she realizes that it was just a nightmare, and yet... the real situation is in some ways worse than it. Sweating profusely, she looks around and tries to take stock of the others in the room.


"Who are y'all," she asks. Trying desperately to figure out what is going on. "Where are we?"

I come to investigate the strange occurrences that are rumored to have been occurring here at the castle. I can see the rumors are true..." When he spots the armed guards, he glares viciously at them.

Edward, brought in for an interrogation, looks neither worried nor afraid. Good morning, or afternoon as it may be. Perhaps the evening, though I often remember meetings here taking place in the earlier hours of the day. He sighs, as if inconveinianced by the chains. How may I help you? He asks, tilting his head at the guards. A small rat, with discoloured fur and two different colored eyes crawls out of Edward's vest, and then scurries back down. Shh, Vincent, you must be quiet. Edward whispers quietly.

Knife, actually, there's only one. And I'm not *hiding* it anywhere. Hiding would imply that I have to hide it, and I should hardly have to hide a spell component, which my knife is. He shimmies in his chains, apparently getting more comfortable. I don't suppose you could loosen them, sir? The chains, that is, they're rather tight, and Vincent doesn't particularly like them.

"You could've asked us before chaining us up! And I've already told you why I'm here! In the name of Heironeous, I demand that you let me go!" Toran pulls at the chains with all his might, though obviously in vain.

"I came to this castle on behalf of the church of Heironeous to investigate strange happenings. Now that I know what is going on, I will be on my way to report back to my church. If you would be so kind as to release me..."

Eric's stomach rumbles, Man I'm hungry, what I get for not eating before I'm taken prisoner I suppose. So who is this king?

Im afraid none o you can leave until the warden removes the spell from you, you can certainly try though. We will set up a nice room for each of you though. We can wait until the warden returns from block g-4, he unlocks the everyone but christian

Toran picks up the sack containing his possessions, but doesn't take anything out of it. and takes his longsword out, swinging it at the nearest guard.

Taking a subtle approach with your diplomacy, I note. Edward remarks dryly as the other prisoners leave. He looks at Toran, swinging his longsword. A bit confrontational, though I suppose with these types that's the best approach.

A man bursts through the doors with a flourish. He has wild eyes and wild black hair and wears a travelling cloak. He stares about the room then spots the guard and walks up to him brandishing a spoon.

"Felicitations good man and once more I must ask that my spoon be replaced. It appears that I have bent it with my teeth again while carelessly eating my food..."

He turns around and notices the other people in the room. "What is this! More peoples in the endless game of cards that practically nobody calls life? Greetings and marinations to the peoples, you must try the spoons they are to die for!"

You are in the prison fortress/asylum for the kingdom of Grenteria, We are located on the northern continent, There has been a small occurrence as of late. We have 100 guards on staff, that number is now about 10. Out of the 8 levels of this castle this is the only safe one.

"What kinds of occurrences? And would they have anythin to do with the decrease in guards?" Said Eric ignoring the mad man who just burst in.

Edward looks at the now-restrained Paladin. Don't chain him up with me, he's insane.

"I'd say there are an awful lot of insane people around here right now."

"...I'm not an inmate at this asylum, am I?"

Glancing at the Paladin the man looks puzzled.

"Why is one of the peoples out cold? I thought this was meant to be the happy floor where there weren't dead bodies and such. Which reminds me, i have been meaning to ask when I may be going up stairs. You can only wander aimlessly around the halls for so long before realising that there's only so many halls to wander around in before realising that there must be other halls to wander aimlessly in elsewhere."

The occurences, a week ago creatures started rising from the castle, the warden went downstairs, to find the cause of these. As had some of the prisoners that volunteered, none have returned for several days. We managed to barricade this floor, We don't know how long it will hold though.

Having attempted to rouse the unconscious man he then walks over to the blood stain and tastes it.

them, there are many different kinds, if they aren't shambling corpses, they are hideous deformed monstrosities, beasts with many mouths and eyes, beasts with tongues longer then you, creatures that can devour a man in seconds. Ugh he shudders just thinking about it.

Eric starts eating his trail rations while the guard talks. Well seeing as those things are going to come up here sooner or later I think I will go down there and fight them, anyone else inerested.

Looking puzzled, Lena stammers. "Well, now that makes things different." She starts whistling as she picks up her pack and gear and draws her sword and shield. She whirls back and starts taunting Christian "So... you want privacy, but for what reason?" Inching ever closer to his face she starts laughing, and asks a guard which room was his.

OOC: I figured since this is a horror game, the DM may make some special rule decisions. That would be a good one where even a PC could have some of his actions dictated when something could be considered scary /shrug

A bit of a hothead, aren't you? Edward dismisses, not making an attempt to resist. Vincent crawls out again and hisses again. From this close a range, Lena will notice, if she hasn't already figured out, that the little rat is an undead, before he settles in Edward's pant pocket.

Eric goes to Edward's room. "Let's see what is so scary."

Michael puts the rope away. "I'd rather not be caught unawares in his room. Can I load my crossbow when I get there?" Michael says as he walks to the stairs.

Edward is still downstairs, having not been unchained by the guards, so he's certainly no help to Lena. Assuming SOMEONE opens the door...

The inside of the room is very dark, as well as disorderly. There's a bed, if it can be called such, though really it's just a lumpy mattress and a pillow. On the bed is a small mirror, a sling, and a large book. The floors and walls are stained with large splotches of blood. In the center of the room is a dead man, clothed only in a loincloth. His chest has been carved open, and his heart removed, which sits on the floor next to him. Mostly obscured by the shadows, a few other humanoid corpses in various states of mutilation lie against the walls. To a smart eye, a small brown bag may be seen underneath the pillow. Though somewhat disturbing, the corpses certainly aren't the monsters the guards were discussing. Still, there's quite a bit of complete darkness in the room, where nothing at all can be seen.

"Nice place." Michael pulls a small, teal colored cube from his pack. He spits on it, and it bursts into bright teal flames that don't seem to be hot at all. He lobs it into the darker part of the room.
That's Hearthfire, from P159 of Races of Stone. Gives off a heatless flame when wet and lights a 20-foot radius like a torch.

Lena walks in slowly, skin glowing a sickly blue/white color in the flames light. "Follow slowly," she says, eyes scanning the room intently.

I can kill him. That's helpful. I could tell you if he were poisoned, I suppose, but there should be nothing poisonous in my room. Vincent crawls out of Edward's pockets and crawls over to the napsacks still in the prison, sniffing at them. Edward nods in approval. Smart thinking, Vincent. If you're looking to heal him, perhaps you'll find something in one of those sacks.

Tymio aproaches Edward and says in a sweet soft voice:
Well it's very nice of you to burrow us your medical supplies. Anyway, why do you keep so many dead corpses in your room? Are you studying cirurgy or something similar?

Then, using the tip of her guisarme, tymio tries to open the Edward's sack so she can check the contents from a safe distance.

Edward makes no facial expression. Those corpses are necessary for my research. He says without elaborating.

Edward doesn't have a sack. Presumably, all his possessions are back in his room.

back in the main room of the prison you find a small sack containing 3 cure light wounds potions. The guard looks at you and says this is for you, if you are to be exploring the prison and helping us out that is.

We might also let the paladin out if you can keep him under control.

Toran wakes up, still groggy. "Ugh, am I still in the castle?"

Michael quaffs the potion handed to him before leaping to his feet. He maintains a quiet tone of voice somehow. "What the hell were you thinking? Were you expecting hitting the dead monster with your sword to accomplish something?"

He notices the pus and gore on his body. He raises his voice.

"Yes, I'm sure it is. Well, will you be needing any help with those monsters you spoke of?" Toran says as he picks up his shield and sheathes his sword.

Edward returns, carrying a dagger in his hand and a sling on his side. Everything else seems to be in various pouches on his clothing. He continues to look at the guards, as if not quite sure whether to do something or not.

"Bah, no-one is sane." Scoffed Eric, "Shall we head down to the monsters then?"

Edward sighs. I've done nothing here, as much as I would have liked to. Keep silent, or else you'll be the next corpse I use for study. Despite his words, Edward's tone is fairly nonchalant.

"Can we just get to killing the monsters so we can get out of this light forsaken hell hole?" Asked Eric starting to get annoyed.

Now, with a definite purpose in mind, Lena no longer remembers why she was frightened. All she know is Edward gives her the creeps, and she turns her aggression towards him as a result. "Dont try to threaten me, Necromancer or not, two swings from my sword would solve all the problems I see right now."

Still visibly pissed, Lena pulls out a trail rations and eats while she has the chance.

the guard speaks, you might want to try the side armory. Go back to edwards room and its about 600 feet down, and a right turn. You will need this key to get in, hes brandishing a key towards you guys.

This is geting out of control...Everybody breath deep and calm down. Anger doesn't solve anything, nor does infighting when there's something out there trying to catch us. And we shouldn't critisize Edward for his field of study. Necromancy can be quite an usefull tool when used properly, just like a sword can kill both the wicked and the good.

Tymio takes the keys and proceeds to follow the guard's directions, taking however extreme care all the way in case something jumps out of the shaddows.

there is nothing at the end of the hallway, when you make it to the turn however you see what looks to be a solid wall of human bodies.

Tymio gets as far away as possible from the wall of corpses whitout losing sight of it, then draws her sling and tries throwing a bullet at it.

Tymio retrieves the bullet with care and then swiftly retreats and goes search for a guard to tell that there's a wall of bodies on the way to the armory, and after the exploding body incident she doesn't dare to try to cut it with her guisarme.

Tymio proceeds to slash at the wall with her guisarme, trying to get Eric free, while keeping a safe distance.

Ackroyd moves back away from the wall of bodies waving his sword as he does so. Assuming I can attack it and then move back our of its reach (my full 30ft) I'll hit it again before running (hard to tell whats happening turns wise) to hit [roll0] damage [roll1]

Eric lowers his bow but keeps it at the ready. Addressing the guard he says "Are you friend or foe."

Michael backs away and begins a spell. A slick fluid coats the floor under the corpses near Tymio.
Grease in the squares occupied by the corpses, avoiding Tymio if possible. DC 16 Reflex or they fall prone. It takes a DC 10 Balance check for a creature to pass through without making the save, and they're flat-footed unless they have 5 ranks in balance. If these are zombies, they'll have to waste their single action standing up. If they're not, then we know they're not.

Also, move 30 ft away after casting. the spell.
