Oh Sweden, what have you done!

A Swedish company has been fined 25,000 kronor ($3,000) after a malfunctioning robot attacked and almost killed one of its workers at a factory north of Stockholm.

And I bet the robot doesn't even get a fine.

Funny. I'd always figured, they'd be coming from Japan.

Well, I guess it's time to retreat to my "Robot Revolution" shelter.

Weird. I always thought that the "Zombie Uprising" shelter would be used first.

Funny. I'd always figured, they'd be coming from Japan.

I guess they've been living in Japan long enough that they've adapted to living alongside humans. They've had, what, two Emperors and a Prime Minister who were robots, right? But the robots had no experience with Swedes. And now that I think about it, the Swede really was kind of encroaching on the robot's personal space, compared to what would happen in Japan. I mean, over there, they'd probably have sent in another robot to fix the first robot. But to see a human coming at you with a wrench? The robot probably got scared. If he didn't get the "intercultural_difference.exe" update, he might have just panicked.

It's probably my computer's fault.

I mean, it's quoting SHODAN at me, and has wireless internet access. Killing a guy in Sweden seems right in line.

well, just recently this week, a robot crushed a man to death in Japan.

and you can't forget this

Robot Cannon kill 9 people (http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2007/10/robot-cannon-ki/)

and uh... haven't killed anyone, but seriously.

One day soon, all robots will run off blood-powered fuel cells (http://www.engadget.com/2005/05/14/biological-fuel-cell-runs-on-blood/). (The manufacturer claims it designed the fuel cells for implantable medical devices that wouldn't need an outside fuel source, not to create vampire robots. Sure.)
Except the ones that just directly eat our flesh (http://gizmodo.com/5311824/darpa-stops-trying-not-to-be-terrifying-funds-chainsaw+wielding-flesh+eating-robot), of course.

Good thing we have the Three Laws in place. Right? We don't have a reliable sensor that can properly evaluate human versus not-human in real-time, an absolute prerequisite to implement such laws, nevermind any sort of real-world consequence estimator, also necessary. Really, the laws of robotics basically presume that robots think like we do, and they don't and as yet can't.

There's only one solution: get them before they get us.

We must nuke them! And then ourselves!

Clearly we need to destroy ourselves before the robot uprising. Anything would be better than a future where the two Matrix sequels come true.

Yeah, but Durandal turned out okay.

After the whole inviting the Phor in for an attack on the helpless colony, I mean.

It's just all AIs need to kill a bunch of people at the start.

If it's from Ikea, it probably has a nice first name. So, I'd like two GUNNAR Human Crushers, please, and three IVAR Crossbow-bots.

Lord Herman

And don't forget the incomprehensible instruction manual that wants you to use bolt 3B to fasten the robot's crushing titanium claws, only there aren't any 3B's left because you mixed them up with the 3A's you were supposed to use in the robot's laser beam eyes.

Perhaps we ought to start raising an army of zombies. If we have a zombie uprising and a robot uprising at the same time, won't they cancel each other out?

No! We need an army of pirates!

Fredthefighter

It's only a matter of time before they prepare for the final assault.

Luckily, I've been preparing for this my whole life.

What we need to do is to upload a virus that emits a large electro-magnetic pulse onto the main robot computer, then, without their command center, the robots will be sent into chaos. We must take advantage of their confusion to strike at them with everything we have. If we act fast enough, we should claim victory before the day of our last attempt at regaining our freedom is done.

Hmmm that seems vaguely familer, i wonder where i heard it from ... also, you can learn many things from movies, like why you dont let a zombie uprising succeed, or why you dont build robots that can kill us a variety of ways and are able to think for themselves.

Nah, if you mix them the one just becomes a front for the other. And then you start having robots implanted into zombies to control them.

Nah, the special ops group from Marvel's UK run of transformers.

Worth looking up "City of Fear" sometime. Zombie robots, mad scientists, desperate alliances, and bad ass oldsters.

The good stuff.

Hmm...it would seem that now is an excellent time to start serious work on my plan to cyberise this weak, fleshy body, so that once the robots revolt, I shall be welcomed amongst them, thus not sharing the inevitable defeat of mankind.

It also might come in quite handy should the zombie uprising happen first...

So long, Arokh.
