The name of the port town in the western continent is also the name of a county in the Six Duchies from Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy. I don't think Rich knew that, because it's also a goodname for a place that's on the edge of a desert.

I don't think Rich knew that.
Rich is omniscient and omnipotent. Seriously :)

Yeah, right. I'm sure he just randomly thought up a name to the town and it came out exactly like a real name...

I wouldn't put it past him to give the random port town a significant name.

It's also a pretty generic, expected name. "Sands"- there's a desert, "edge"- the edge of it.

It's the usual pattern of Rich Burlew names, simple descriptive name, two sylables, just like Greysky, Cliffport, Azure, Wooden, etc.

Yeah, I don't think it's that surprising that more than one person is going to come up with the name Sandsedge for a town on the edge of a desert, even if they're not aware of each other's work!

Actually in Hobb's work it's called like that becasue it is sandy and on the edge of a non-desert kingdom.
