The Worst Thing Possible
Necromancy, Death, Evil
Level: Cleric 9, Sor/Wiz 9
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates; see text
Spell Resistance: Yes
This spell banishes the victim's soul to a private demiplane of nightmare and torment where it will suffer forever. The demiplane is based off the person's worst fears. It will alternate between psychological torture, often depictions of loved ones suffering that the victim will believe as real, and excruciating physical agony. Their body immediately enters a coma that cannot be healed while their soul is absent. The body continues to age, and can starve to death if it isn't fed.
The only way to free the victim is to use a spell like Plane Shift to physically travel into that demiplane, which will defensively create horrific creatures and environments to protect its prisoner. CR is up to DM discretion, but is correlated to the prisoner's own level. Once inside, the rescuers must find the prisoner's soul and cast Freedom on it. This destroys the plane and sends the visitors back to where the came from. If the victim's body is still alive they will awaken, otherwise they will need to be brought back to life.
