I'm ne of those players who likes to have models of his favourite characters and usually i manage ok, getting something close to what i envision my character to be if not perfectly. I'm stuck on two of my current characters though. Usually i get my minis from www.reapermini.com (they have a great mini search engine there) but on these two chars they haven't got what i need.

One is the classic 'barbarian queen', sort of the in the mould of 'Red Sonja' from the Marvel Conan comics but a little more practically attired (ie not a chainmail bikini). She wields a two-handed greatexe, single-bladed if possible.

The other is a Soloman Kane / Van Helsing type, with pistols and/or rapier, perhaps with pilgrim's hat (not sure what they are called). The campaign world includes tech up to about wild-west style era, so shotguns/revolvers are also possible. (The guy might be undead as well but that's not as important for mini purposes).

If anyone has any suggestions for minis, or good sites to search, it would be much appreciated :D

Heresy miniatures (http://www.heresyminiatures.com/) have a small but very good range of miniatures...especially their monsters (including a WIP dragon that, simply put, is the best model of a dragon I've ever seen...and it's not even finished! I just wish I had the money to get one :smallfrown:)

You might also try Iron Wind Metals (http://ironwindmetals.com/d/index.php) or for more traditional imagery Otherworld Miniatures (http://www.otherworld.me.uk/). The Miniatures Page (http://theminiaturespage.com/oldlib/fan/25mm.html) contains a directory of other possibilities.

I usually go with Reaper. Failing that, eBay.

That's damn near perfect for what i had in mind... greatsword rather than rapier but it's a mishmash of cultures in this world, it should still do fine. Thanks for all the suggestions guys... i've checked every manufacturer i can find and it seems none of them have any female human barbarians with greataxes... plenty of greatswords, but not axes? I think I may just have to improvise in the end.

www.miniaturemarket.com because they are only about twenty miles from my house, so I can place an order and have it here the next day. www.trollandtoad.com for anything obscure or in large quanties because they always have whatever it is I'm looking for, even if they take forever to ship.

Ebay is the best place for minis because people sell them wholesale. I bought 100 assorted D&D and Star Wars minis for 60$.

Has anyone come across a good mini that uses punching daggers? The closest I've ever come to what I'm looking for are ones that use a punching dagger and shortsword or something of the sort.

I buy mine from www.thewarstore.com

<^_^> Neal just has such great service it's kinda unworldly. (I've ordered from him twice; been very pleased both times).

Once was WH40k, the second time was WHFB and War Machine.

Unfortunately due to Games Workshop policy you can't browse their minis on his store site <-.->;

But what I've done both times is just use the official GW site (and the Warmachine site that one time) as a catalog of sorts and then emailed him what I wanted.

*edit*

Minis with punch-daggers? Hrmm... I actually can't think of any except for a Dark Elf Corsair model; but that's in kind of a big box-set to buy for just one mini >.>

That's the kind of thing I'd personally convert because it's easier to find a model in the pose you want and change it's weapons (usually) than it is to find one in a pose you want already equipped with the proper weapons >.<

Hasslefree (http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=56) Miniatures (http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=60) to the rescue (http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=764)!. Granted, the last is not a regular axe, but even for that, here (http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=768) is a remedy!

Lol, we have some like that too. The halfling sometimes uses a Jawa for his miniature.

In this case, it looks like some people found you some good options. (I was going to suggest the Warhammer 40K male Witch Hunter Inquisitor, as he is VERY Solomon Kane, but they apparently don't sell him separately anymore.) But... in general...

If you like the miniature hobby, and you really want your minis to look like your characters--and mind, if you have the time and money--you might consider getting into mini conversion. Or, alternatively, find someone who will do it for you.

It does require buying tools like clippers and pin vises, and if you really get into it, epoxy putty and sculpting tools. Just something to think about.

But for example, for your Barbarian Queen, you could take this gal:

http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/female%20barbarian/latest/02808

Then use clippers or a saw to neatly cut off an axe blade from another miniature or from one of Reaper's weapons packs, like this one:

http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/weapons%20pack/latest/02202

Or this one:
http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/weapons%20pack/latest/02189

And glue it to the end of her spear. Bam, you have an axemaiden.

If you feel comfortable/creative, buy some miniature sculpting epoxy putty (Green Stuff (http://www.thewarstore.com/product18832.html) and use that to help stick the blade to the spear, and/or sculpt around the blade to really make it look like it was always intended to be an axe bearer instead of a spear bearer. Working with putty takes a little practice.

Alternatively, take a model like this:
http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/female%20barbarian/latest/03019

And cut off her sword with clippers. Get an axe like from one of the weapon packs linked above.

Get a pin vise (commonly used for mini conversion) and a drill bit that is roughly the size of a small paper clip in terms of diameter.

Carefully drill a hole through her hands, where the weapon was.

Slide the axe through and secure it with glue.

I realize this may not be your thing, but if you find yourself really wanting perfection with your figures, it might be worth the time to learn to do.

Since the original request is pretty well filled, I thought I might step in with another request.

I am going to be DMing a campaign soon that is set place in a fantasified 1920s chicago. I'm trying to find some minis for my players, so I need some kind of uncommon figures. Its kind of off the wall, so I'm not really expecting to find anything but figured its worth a shot. I've found lots of human miniatures that work fine(copplestone i think it was if anyone is interested), but the more exotic things have proven difficult:

Minotaur in a suit. Extra points if he is wielding a chain.

Gnome in a suit. Extra points if he has a saxophone.
