I just wanted to ask if the SAN rules were only for Call of Cthulhu or if they were applicable to D&D as well. They seem fascinating to play with in a game, but I don't think there is a Knowledge (Forbidden Lore) skill in D&D.

I'm looking at that right now. (That's the thing that got me into the rules of the whole thing--it's surprisingly complicated, but weirdly easy to understand... if that makes any sense...) It doesn't tell me which game it matches to, though.

I've been trying to figure out how to integrate SAN rules into my homebrew. Thanks for he reference. I really like the idea of having sanity damage be an unusual but well defined system in a fantasy campaign - it gives demonic encounters far more potential to be interesting.

They are a good idea to balance spells, too.
I guess that transform yourself in something else (Polymorph line) and play with time (Celerity, Timestop) demand something from your mind.
